We kept noticing Lew's, both on the road and in lists of restaurants, but no one said we should try it. We decided it looked interesting and wish we had tried it earlier and told others. My wife had Chicken Parmesan with a starter of Broccoli Cheddar soup and was very happy. I had the Glazed Blackened Sesame Pork Chops with a salad and was also happy. Lew's is a nice find in a culinary-challenged town. In Rock Springs you come to expect a little different dining experience and Lew's is no different. The place is set up as 1/2 dining room and 1/2 bar. There are a few big screens to catch a game and some high top tables in the bar area to eat at. There are deep wood tones that make the place feel warm, a friendly staff, and the place was spotlessly clean. The menu was diverse. Pastas, some great steak/chop options, a little seafood, and Asian food. Like I said, you expect diversity in Rock Springs. I opted for the breaded veal (excellent) with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies (also excellent). My partner chose Asian food and picked a chow mien dish that I would call the Kitchen sink." It had pork, chicken, shrimp, and a ton of other stuff in it. Enough food for 3 entire meals. Everything was tasty. Lew's is a definite recommend. It's off the path of other restaurants in RS but worth driving to the next freeway off ramp. read more

I'm not quite sure why this had an average of 4 stars. The food was mediocre - I ordered from the Chinese side of the menu and it had a decent flavor but was very oily. We ordered drinks, which we watched sit on the bar for at least 5 minutes before they were delivered to our table. The waitstaff seemed more motivated to engage in conversation with each other than provide service to the diners. The woman's bathroom was broken, and when the waitstaff was notified they didn't seemed surprised. Overall, very underwhelmed and I will not be going back. read more

Other then the server not knowing all of the beers on draft the service was great. I had the Singapore chow mein. I picked the soup to go wth it which on this particular evening was clam chowder. Be warned unlike most restaurants it was a full bowl not a cup. Tasted great. I'm a pretty big eater and took home over half of the entree. Wife thought the salad she had was excellent. It says online that they close at 10 so when we got there at 9 after traveling all day we were looking forward to eating there. We were told as soon as we walked in that they were closed. We told them it says 10 PM online and the lady told us they had to change closing time because of Covid (which started 2 years ago) and that "he" just hasn't had time to get online and change the closing time. I hate to do this to their already famous reputation but it says a lot about an establishment when you receive a plate of rice that's half cooked on top, and underneath cold and dried out. entrée was good well cooked but the rice apparently he had either taken a plate of rice that had been sitting for a long time and put some fresh rice on top of it or he was unaware that he had put fresh rice on top of halfway cooked rice. It got stuck in my teeth and I had to spit it out onto my plate and when I complained about it to the waitress she said I'll have to tell him about it. she never offered to take it off my meal I even told her that I give reviews on yelp she says I don't blame you all she had to say. Here it is 15 minutes later and I'm still picking rice bits out of my teeth. No excuse for this Don't wast your money. read more

Lew's was a find for us traveling from California to Wyoming and we needed a place to stop to catch the AllStar Baseball game and so we yelped the area and chose Lew's with skepticism due to the remoteness of the area. We were pleasantly surprised to find a clean, well kept restaurant/bar with friendly service and really good food! We had the black and bleu New York steak and the pesto chicken panini and both were savory and flavorful! The steak was ordered medium and it was ever so slight over cooked but the flavor and tenderness made it not matter! The cocktails were not cheated on alcohol which is a pleasant perk too! I can't speak to the rest of Rock Springs but Lew's was pretty good. Started with the pu pu platters. Very good. The lady had a steak (she like it but didn't share so I can't speak to it). I had a cheese burger and fries. Fries weren't anything special but the burger was good. Only down side is, my craving for pizza was unfulfilled. They have pizza on the menu but we were told it is "no longer served." But it's on the menu! Sad. read more

Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon, and there were only a few other patrons in the restaurant. I'm glad to have read about the fish smell beforehand; it's prominent. My dining partner and I ordered the citrus chicken salad and a medium rare hamburger, no bun, substitute with romaine lettuce to be able to pick it up. The salad description said it came with candied pecans, but they were plain ol' pecans. Otherwise it was good. The hamburger game out as medium well ground beef wrapped in lettuce. We sent it back asking for a medium rare hamburger. Again, it came back ground like spaghetti meat done just slightly less cooked than before, still medium to med-well, and required a fork to eat. Service was cordial, not overly friendly, and infrequent. Server did not check on us until one of the meals was finished, and water refills had to be requested. A little hesitant in the beginning, this is Rock Springs Wyoming. But staying in the economy guest Village we decided to have dinner at Lowes. Very pleasant atmosphere, great menu with great selections. Very helpful wait staff. My husband wanted to order Chinese food but I talked him into the ribeye steak which was absolutely delicious. We found this restaurant by accident while driving between Estes Park, CO and Jackson, WY. It is definitely an interesting restaurant. The atmosphere is nice and the service was great. I had the popcorn halibut, it was really good and came with potato, veggies, soup, and a roll for 10.99. My buddy had a cheese burger and fresh homemade fries. After a long drive thru rain on I-80, we were just stoked to find Lew's. It's easy to find off I-80. But better yet, the service and food were just terrific. My cousin chewed down on the honey-BBQ wings and a freshfreshfresh and loaded side salad, smacking her lips and almost moaning at her food. I ordered up the glazed pork chops after reading an earlier Yelp review....gosh these folks are putting it together! Delicious! It's a BROAD menu, so I'm betting there's something for everyone. The volume of food is impressive. The table behind us ordered a couple of their Asian dishes, and they were huge. Best of all, was the sweetheart of a waitress. Just adorable! read more

Visited on Saturday, August 9 2014. Recommended by others to be a good place to eat. Although the servings were ample, the food was not good and the wait staff service was unacceptable. When questioned, server was unwilling to give us her name All staff seemed reluctant, and un-willing to do their job, and their standing around using their cell phones was very unprofessional. Food was saturated with sodium. Although assured none was used, there remained a questionable concern of the use of MSG. Family developed serious headaches and stomach distress after consuming Lew's food. The venue was extremely pricey and not worth the visit. We would NOT recommend Lew's as a good place to eat. Chopstix or, especially Wonderful House would be much better choices for Chinese / American cuisine. Very sadly disappointed. read more

Looking for a simple meal while traveling though Rock Springs. Decided to try Lew's. Outside is really nice and well cared for. Inside is upscale. I chose CAB NY strip steak with blue cheese sauce medium rare - wonderful! We also had the black sesame glazed pork chops -also great. Salad was fresh and the bread rolls are baked on site and fried, yes, like Chinese comfort food - yummy. Manager Chance was very attentive as our server. This turned out to be way better than a "simple meal," and we have plenty for tomorrow's lunch ;) read more
