We are the travelers craving some Chinese food! After looking at other Chinese places in town, we choose this one based on their Google/Yelp reviews. We ordered takeout sesame chicken, orange chicken, and swapped our white rice with 'fried rice'. Pro tip if you're ordering fried rice: look at their fried rice menu section, (or view their online menu in advance). Do you expect vegtables in your fried rice, ham, etc? Be sure to order that. We told the staff exactly, "I'd like to have some fried rice," and they packed us plain rice that was fried. Nothing else mixed in. See my photo attached. Hopefully that's on us for not reading their menu correctly and not their misunderstanding. Pro tip if you're ordering orange chicken: be sure to confirm the spice levels. There's no spicy symbol on the orange chicken, but I couldn't finish all of mine because there was a kick to it. Could it be they used general tso sauce? If your sensitive to spicy food like me, be sure to ask the spice level; if I had some milk I would've finished it, it was otherwise tasty. Obviously, the sesame chicken was the biggest hit at the table. It was as expected, not spicy AND satisfied our cravings. Their speed of making and preparing our food was in about 10 minutes. They were very fast and convenient with our takeout order. If we're ever passing through again and craving chinese, we'd come back - but would make sure not to run into the previous call outs again. read more

Siam King was a short walk from our motel, so we decided to give it a try for lunch. The menu is huge, with Chinese, Japanese and Thai choices and a few American dishes here and there. We both decided to get lunches off the Daily Special part of the menu. I got the "Double Seven", which is Fried Chicken Chicken Chow Mein, Egg Foo Young along with an egg roll, Crab Rangoon, Ham Fried Rice and Egg Drop soup. My wife got the "Gold Made Combination", which is Egg Foo Young, Chicken Chow Mein, Almond Chicken and also came with an egg roll, Crab Rangoon, Ham Fried Rice and Egg Drop soup. I used their website to see their menu and prices. After making my selection, I tried ordering online, but it was impossible. There are no buttons to add your selection, and the prices are wrong. According to their online prices, the two meals I ordered would total 25.09 with taxes. However, I end up paying almost $32. So, only use the website to look at their menu selection instead of for the price of the food. Overall, what I ordered was yummy, and the restaurant was excellent and clean. We are two foodie Asian Americans road-tripping for the last month through the Southwest. I also just returned from a decade living abroad in Asia. En Route from Grand Canyon to Jackson Hole, we decided to take a risk on small town Asian food. Yelp had nice reviews of Siam King and we were pleased with our Red Curry beef and our stir-fried garlic shrimp. The white rice was as good as Mom made and she is very particular. Our server, cashier& bus boy was attentive and warm despite several tables and on-going phone orders. COVID strictures are still lifting. They didn't have it on the menu but they added garlic for me, and it was damn good... for lunch I had the beef salad, asked for medium spicy. It came out great. I am open minded so I gave an honest try but concluded that French fries do not belong in a bowl of curry. The other veggies were good and the curry was good but would have been much better with cauliflower or red potatoes. The waiter did not ask how my meal was. We got there about 30 minutes before closing on the 4th of July. I'm pretty sure they were itching to get out of there but they very still very courteous and friendly. My fiance and I stopped in here for dinner on our way back to SLC from Denver. I looked at this menu and there was only one thing I saw: sizzling rice soup. See, there's this Chinese place by my parents' place that served the best sizzling rice soup. That stuff was like crack for me growing up, but then there was a fire at the place, it took them months to reopen, and when they did nothing was ever the same again. You know how it is. Not many menus seems to have sizzling rice soup. I'm not sure why. And on the rare occasions they do, it was some weird version. One in Chicago had sweet and sour broth. Don't tease me like that, people. This was it though: great broth, nice variety of veggies and meat, and the sizzling rice! Awww yeah. I sat there in the booth, eating my soup, drinking a delicious glass of wine and taking in men's synchronized diving (which, as you all know, is the greatest of all Olympic sports). It was beautiful. My fiance had the pad kee mao with pork. It was noodley and spicy and delicious. But they had the soup, you guys. THE SOUP. Thanks, Rock Springs. I won't forget you. read more

Siam King is a gem! I have (slightly) boosted its star quotient based on its location, but not by much--in short, Siam King has excellent food and attentive service at fair prices. I must admit that I came with some California snobbery and assumed that any place serving Chinese, Japanese, AND Thai food could not know what it is doing, but my snobbery is now firmly in check. I went with a large group and we ordered a variety of dishes from all three "regions" of the menu, and all were excellent. Fresh ingredients, lots of spice, and beautiful presentations. Because of the restaurant's name, I decided to go the Thai route and ordered a red curry, which at "medium" spicy was perfect; my BF's Massaman curry had some interesting twists, including pineapple and French-fry-like potato sticks instead of sliced or diced potatoes. We did break from the Thai pattern to order some tempura and sushi appetizers, which were also fresh and perfectly prepared. My miso soup was a bit seaweed-y for my taste, but for those who like a lot of seaweed, it would be ideal. A note on portions: they are enormous! The curries are three times the size of a typical Thai curry, and the Chinese dishes that others in our party ordered were heaped onto large plates. For example, there were eight in our party, and we passed around the fried rice that one person ordered and *everyone* had a couple of spoons and there was still a lot left over. The pad thai plates must have had three pounds of noodles on them! So come hungry or be prepared for lots of leftovers. :) Service was also excellent, with friendly and attentive staff. They even gave us some lovely complimentary strawberry cakes when they realized we were celebrating a birthday. If we are ever traveling through Rock Springs again, we will definitely be stopping at Siam King. read more

Pleasant surprise for such an isolated small town. We stayed in Rock Springs one night after leaving YNP and visiting Grand Teton NP on our way back to Denver IA. This place would be a big hit in the city I live in, which has a bit more than three times the number of people in Rock Springs and only about one decent restaurant. One reviewer mentioned the 'sizzling rice soup.' We had it and thought it was quite nice. The Sushi was ok enough and the other dishes were adequate. This beat our expectations for such a backwater town. On the other hand, the service was surprisingly odd. Our soup and appetizers arrived very quickly. Then there was a very long delay for the sushi my wife had ordered. Then there was an even longer delay for the non-sushi dishes my daughter and I had ordered, with my dish arriving with a long lag after my daughter's dish. 4 stars "for the food" in such a town. I generally judge a restaurant on the quality of the food, simplicity of the meal, and the friendliness/attentiveness of the wait staff. Quality of the food: 1. Both myself and I wet sick with diarrhea after our meal. 2. Way too many items on the menu to be able to prepare all items expertly. Literally hundreds of items on the menu. 3. I had the Larb, a simple dish of lime, brown sugar, fish sauce, meat, pepper, lettuce, mint, basil, red onion, and fresh veggies. It's intended as a spicy meal to accompany a night of drinking. What I got was a lettuce, shredded carrots, tomato, deep fried chicken, fish sauce and some kind of vinegar. No basil, no mint. No onions. No brown sugar. None of the aromatics that makes Thai food amazing. 4. My wife had a Thai curry. This is hard to mess up. It's a curry paste, coconut milk, potatoes, and meat. This curry was average to good. Needed salt. 5. We also had a couple of sushi rolls that I don't remember. Simplicity of the meal - This speaks to the quality of the ingredients. Everything appeared to come from a can or have a very long shelf life. This is not a bad thing, with such an extensive menu, they have to make all items with shelf stable items. Average to below average for the quality of the ingredients. Friendliness of the Staff 1. Please don't do the finances for the business in plain site of the patrons, we don't like to see your invoices and calculator. 2. Wait staff was kind and responsive to our needs, glass was empty multiple times, but I drink a lot of water, however we were the only people sitting for dinner so I would either expect a pitcher or a full glass. Overall: I probably won't return due to the illness, but maybe visit the bar next door that obviously keep the restaurant open. read more

i mean, for rock springs, wyoming - this place is legit. stopped here on my first (possibly only? - this remains to be seen) cross-country roadtrip and i was pretty skeptical of an asian restaurant tucked away next to some random hole in the wall bar and holiday inn-express. well, siam, good job because you took me pleasantly by surprise. portions were huge, food was pretty authentic and the decor (read: buddhist statues) made me feel a mixture of at home and like i could trust the owners / people preparing our dinner. plus they had ma po tofu and mala string beans. thanks for the good eats, siam! my friends and i were impressed. read more

Rock Springs is a town devoid of any good food. I can confidently say that. However, my husband and I chose Siam King as the path of least resistance (and because it was next door to our hotel). We read the reviews 90 miles away so we would make the right choice in Rock Springs. Pro travel tip: you can get your food quicker here than you can at a fast food place. Here's how -- call ahead when you're fifteen minutes out. Get your order to go. When you arrive at exit 102 (west bound) get off, pay, and get back in to the car. They give you everything you need, and pack it neatly in a box. (We had to get ours to go so we could make it to little America before the pool closed) We read the reviews saying portions were generous, so for four of us, we ordered three items total (and had plenty left over): 1. House lo mein -- it has chicken, shrimp, and beef. It was my favorite. 2. General Tso's chicken -- just the perfect combo of sweet, tangy, and spicy. 3. Massaman Curry -- wow! This was really good. I'm spoiled because I was just in Thailand a couple months ago, so it definitely wasn't the same, but helped satisfy my craving. My husband got the mixed tempura and really enjoyed it.
