My experience with Lexus has been extremely disappointing. I purchased a Lexus LS 500 from Lexus of Memphis. After taking delivery of the vehicle, I discovered that it had scratches on the paint. I immediately requested that the dealership correct the issue and repaint the affected area. Initially, they asked me to wait one week before bringing the vehicle in. I accepted. One week later, they postponed the appointment for another week. Again, I accepted and adjusted my schedule. When the new appointment date arrived, I proactively contacted my salesperson, Ricky Tran, for an update. To my surprise, I was informed that the vehicle still could not be painted and that they wanted to reschedule yet again for the following week. At this point, I can no longer continue waiting. The dealership keeps making promises and then delaying the work. This repeated rescheduling shows a lack of respect for their customers' time and commitments. What concerns me even more is the explanation I was given. How can a luxury automotive brand be planning to repaint a vehicle outdoors instead of in a professional body shop? Why should a simple paint repair depend entirely on the weather? And how is it possible that after three consecutive weeks, the work still has not been completed? Meanwhile, I am left without the full use of the vehicle I purchased, yet I am still required to make my monthly loan payments. I am the one bearing all the inconvenience, while the dealership continues to postpone the repair without providing a clear solution. There seems to be very little consideration for the customer's time, money, and expectations. In this situation, the customer is the one who continuously suffers the consequences. This is not the level of service, professionalism, or accountability that I would expect from a luxury brand such as Lexus. I am extremely frustrated with the way this matter has been handled and would appreciate advice on how Lexus intends to resolve this situation promptly and fairly. Thank you. read more

I had an 11:00 a.m. appointment on Monday at Lexus of Memphis for what should have been a very simple visit: a diagnostic and an oil change. The diagnostic ended up showing that the gas cap needed to be replaced, which is hardly some major repair. Even so, I did not get my car back until 11:00 a.m. the following day. That is completely unacceptable for an appointment that was scheduled in advance, especially for routine service. The whole point of making an appointment is so your vehicle is actually looked at in a timely manner. Instead, this turned into an all-day and overnight ordeal for basic service. What made the experience even worse was the lack of any effort to make it right. I asked the manager if he would do anything to make up for the excessive delay, and he was very clear that the answer was no. No accommodation, no goodwill gesture, no acknowledgment that keeping a customer's car that long for an oil change, diagnostic, and gas cap replacement is poor service. Very disappointing experience. Poor time management, poor customer service, and no accountability. I would not recommend this service department based on how this was handled. read more

Please do not get service or repairs done at Lexus of Memphis. I have owned four Lexus vehicles and have been a loyal Lexus owner for over 15 years. This was my first time bringing one of my vehicles to Lexus of Memphis for repair service. My Lexus GS 350 radio stopped working, so I brought it in to have it diagnosed. I was told that I needed a new radio, which would cost $4,200 including labor. Due to the high cost, I decided to get a second opinion to ensure the radio actually needed to be replaced. I took the vehicle to a radio repair shop, where they removed the radio and sent it to a repair facility to determine if it could be fixed. They discovered a burnt fuse, which they replaced for $450. The amplifier was also found to be working properly, despite Lexus stating that the radio could not be contacted and needed to be replaced. I later spoke with the service manager, Gary York, to discuss my concerns. Unfortunately, the interaction was very disappointing and unprofessional. He was dismissive of my concerns and made it seem like the issue was my fault. He was a complete Ass. I was told that they completed their service check and did not find any burnt fuse. I was also told that fuse replacement was considered aftermarket and not covered under warranty. This experience was extremely frustrating and not what I expected from a Lexus dealership. Due to this experience, I will not return to Lexus of Memphis. Instead, I will continue to have my vehicle serviced in Little Rock, where I originally purchased it and have always received reliable service. read more

Dropped off vehicle for OLF and Tire Rotation and Service Advisor stated they did OLF's at 10,000 mile intervals. Picked up vehicle and the service repairs noted; Inspect/Adjust Fluid Levels, Rotate Tires, Inspect Brakes, Complimentary 21 Point Inspection, Complimentary Car Wash and Vacuum. Absolutely pathetic. I bought a new Lexus SUV from them and specifically asked if there would be an issue for them registering it in my home county as I don't live in Shelby County. The sales rep and the sales manager ensured me it wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately i believed them because i have bought vehicles all over the state of Tennessee and all over the country for that matter having served over 20 yrs in the US Military. But somehow do to their ignorance, laziness, incompetency or illiteracy they screwed it all up and debt me a letter basically saying we're lazy and dumb and now you need to go do it correctly because we couldn't figure it out how to do basic correspondence. As a side note they over paid the taxes for the plate because they registered it, not only in the wrong county but also incorrectly. The cheaper dealerships in the area can figure it out with no issues at all but not lexus. Absolutely pathetic. read more

The battery went out on a Friday and they sent someone out Monday morning to replace it for me. Coming from another state with Lexus dealerships on every corner, I hate that there's only one here in memphis. I usually go to Toyota now for service because it's easier to get an appointment. It also doesn't help that Lexus is closed on the weekends, but they told me to call back Monday morning and someone was out by nine am and I was back in the streets by lunch! . Before buying a Lexus car from the Auto Universe we ordered Pre-Purchase Inspection to Lexus of Memphis. We ordered to check all mechanical and cosmetic issues of interior and exterior. Based on evaluation as an excellent conditions we paid full asking price for the car and made it shipped to California to find out that half of the car has been repainted poorly. I talked with Bryan Smith who denied that his so called 'trained hardworking' technician failed to do a proper inspection causing us more that $10K damage. This man can't take responsibility for bad working business. Very disappointed. P.S. What you "explained" doesn't help. Returning used vehicle isn't possible - you know that. That is why we paid for Pre-purchase Inspection prior to buying. And we relied on high Lexus standards when we ordered this service. Our experience at Lexus of Memphis is not what we had in mind. I was in the market to buy an IS250. they had one that was priced at $18,000 for a 2011. This is over $3500 over the average market value. The sales person spoke over me as I was trying to explain that right now I could get one at $14,500. He insisted that this was the market value, and there was no flexibility in the pricing. He lied, but this was new inventory as a trade-in a couple of days ago according to CarGurus this has been in the inventory for a while. It may be the car gurus got the fax wrong? Needless to say being rude to a customer and dismissive there's not when your brownie points. I have faith in the brand, but have a little faith in Lexus of Memphis, when straight out of the gate, the sales person ruins, the relationship albeit nonexistent by lying and being rude. I have driven a Lexus for 24 years. My mother out numbers me, and my husband has bought 5 LS 500. My Sc 430 was totaled in a wreck, and it was not my fault. Love the car for the engine kick, and one was available in the Hamptons through another dealership This dealership sells vehicles to the Belz family in Memphis. I don't drive a lot, and my car was due for maintenance. Jasmine was extremely rude, and also a service tech. I can not help the dealership did not have the car that I preferred. Jasmine was beyond rude. My parents and husband gave purchased many vehicles from this dealership. My husband was in a bad wreck that totaled his car I'm April. I suggested that he looked for a Lexus that was not in Memphis. We located a beautiful LS 500 F sport AWD with a 4K miles, and in perfect condition. The dealership in Lexington, KY was superb. Lexus of Memphis, do better with your customer service. As your rude tech, list you a nice chunk of change. Lastly, I will never by another vehicle from this dealership. I was in the market for a new ride so I could comfortably chauffeur my precious mother around. It's hard for her to ride In my Camaro SS as she has back problems. As I walked around the parking lot to observe the inventory available I was thankful that I wasn't hounded by car salesman. As I was approaching the front door while looking at the newest options available I was approached by Jon Lau. I advised my situation and Jon directed me to two vehicles where I test drove the F Sport Performance RX500h and the Luxury TX350. I wanted to venture out to see more options so I went to other dealerships test driving one other and looking at several different models, but nothing compared to the Lexus. The safety features are comforting, the technology is amazing, the ride is smooth sailing plus THEY Are Just Downright BEAUTIFUL! LITERALLY the Only Thing the car cannot do is Fly lolol. When coming down to the Lexus and a Cadillac I wanted my Mother to ride in both where we both decided On the Lexus TX 350. I saw this vehicle on the Lexus of Memphis website. I wanted to purchase this vehicle for my daughter after I went by and saw it. There was no price on the sedan except paperwork with "As Is No Warranty" on the vehicle. Went home and called Lexus with a credit card. I was transferred to a salesman by the name of Paul Martin. Of course he was pleasant at first when I told him I wanted to buy the car. When I described him the car and told him the price he laughed at me condescendingly and told me I couldn't find this type of a Lexus for this price. I told him it's what was listed on their website. He then said to me "Ever heard of mistakes?" My response was "Have you ever heard of proofreading?" He then told me the car wasn't for sale and hung up on me. Paul Martin is a rude man. I implore you not to do business with him if you must do business at this establishment. He owes me an apology. Better yet, the owner owes me an apology. I'm a Lexus girl (specifically a Lexus SUV girl). I have been one since 2006 and I'm 90% certain that I will be for the rest of my life. I'm on my third and have loved every one of them. My first Lexus SUV literally saved my life - they said any other car and I would be dead. It was flat as a pancake when I rolled down that hill (an 18-wheeler fishtailed into me during an ice storm) and yet I crawled out of the car with just scratches. My second one I adored so much that even when I hit 100,000 I didn't want to get a new one SO I was super excited when I got my exact car (black exterior when tan interior) except the 2014 version...and honey, let me tell you something. Those upgrades are worth it. Air conditioned seats in Memphis heat? It is the only way I'll drive. I got a rental this past weekend in California and didn't realize how much my Lexus spoiled me...and I'm ok with that. Did you know that you don't even have to put in the address in your GPS? You can CALL someone by pressing a button and they will do it FOR YOU! Anyways, the service guys are great too. They always give me a loaner and clean out my car for me. My only issue was when I bought my new car. It was the first time my dad didn't go with me. And while the car guy remembered my dad had passed and expressed his condolences, he still played hard ball a little bit too hard. He wouldn't even negotiate price. It was more of a "this is the price" and I always thought they would give you a little something or take a little bit off...at least they did with my dad. These people are amazing... I was treated like royalty from the minute I pulled into the parking lot and had an incredible experience with this dealership from start to finish. They detailed my 2011 Camaro and practically restored it to factory. I couldn't believe it when I saw the end result. Let me preface by saying, I love my RX330. A few people who work at this Lexus seem to think their customers are idiots... when we went in to speak to one of their salesman, they weren't helpful in the least bit. It wasn't until we returned to make more inquiries did they realize we were serious buyers. Still not exactly luxury-car--buying-standards that I'm used to. Of course, we also made it a point to drive my crummy old and dirty piece of crap car there instead of my husband's flashy sports car :) Were they judging us through that? Maybe... who knows. When we ordered a brand new car and told them the specifications we wanted on it, they gave us an approximate time it would take for the car's delivery. Everything went smoothly. On my birthday about six weeks later, they called to tell me my new car was here - early! Talk about perfect timing! We got there and saw a car just like the one I ordered (same model and color). But I was annoyed that a few customers and another salesman was inside the car already. I could only hope that this would not be MY car... anywayz, they told me it was. We got into the car and nope, not my car! Wrong stereo, no navigation system, wrong color interior - all wrong! Turns out the specifications we ordered on the car we wanted wasn't a possible combination. But no one told us this!! I was upset 'coz that meant we had to re-order another one and wait for another two months - for a car that wasn't exactly what I thought I was going to get (the stereo and navigation system combo). Not only that, when I eventually telephoned the purchasing manager on the phone - the person, I was told who 'made this mistake' and didn't let anyone know - he was not only non apologetic, he was pompous and rude! I asked if that was the way Lexus Memphis did business and he was trying to give all sorts of excuses that didn't make sense. So I started to say I was disgusted with his non-professionalism when... get this... he yelled these words "do not speak when I'm talking". SOB! Yes, we went back down there IMMEDIATELY and got our deposit back and went to the BMW dealership. To cut the long story short - 'coz aren't these always the longest most pain-in-the-ass to write and worst to read... the son of the owner called the next day and apologized and gave us a big ass discount (didn't ask for the deposit back) and gave us permission to drive any car we wanted whenever we wanted until our new car arrived. We actually didn't take full advantage of it 'coz my husband is a good honest guy. I would have done it differently, of course :D Anyway, the story doesn't end there. They then kept promising on a date of delivery on car #2. I kid you not! Some of the excuses they made... the car has been shipped but it's Golden Week so it's not coming on time - huh?! You mean the Japanese on the ship go "oh it's Golden Week let's anchor here and drink sake till the holiday is over" - hey, I don't make these things up - they really told me this! Then it was... "good news it's on the truck on the way to Memphis" - then it was "bad news the truck has gone missing" - yeah a gazillion dollars worth of cars 'gone missing'? So as much as I love my car, I would never buy another car from this bunch of idiots. These people here need to be taught how to treat their customers right and certainly not lie to them - and stupid lies! Maybe they should get some training from the people I've dealt with in Lexus Singapore and/or Melbourne (Australia). I'm not saying all of them are morons. I think this service center does a great job. They have maintained a high quality brand over the ten years I have been having my cars serviced there, and have really never disappointed me. They aren't inexpensive, but I intend to keep my car for a long time (150,000 miles is my goal), and it needs to be serviced so I can avoid high repair costs later or having to buy a car earlier than I desire. You are always given the opportunity for a loaner car (a must for me) at no additional cost. If you want to wait, which I rarely do, they have a very comfortable lounge with internet cubicles, TVs, free snacks and beverages, and comfortable, quiet seating. Everything in the service garage is clean, and my car always is returned to be cleaner than when I brought it in. read more

Buyer beware! Don't come here if you are looking for a "Lexus experience", but most importantly, if you must come here (they have a monopoly in Memphis), make sure you double check all the numbers in your contract and make sure they don't "accidentally" make some errors which will conveniently always be in their favor. Having owned two previous Lexus cars (Lexi??) and having patronized 7 dealers in CT, TX, and UT in the past, this was the most unpleasant Lexus dealer I have ever dealt with. Our salesperson Greta was actually quite nice...knowledgeable, pleasant, and low-pressure. Her superiors? Uh, not so much. We were negotiating for an RX350...she went to her sales manager with our offer of $500 over invoice on an end-of-model-year floor demo (an offer we received on an out-of-town car that we would have had to drive several hours to get)... she returned with her manager's offer of about $1300 over invoice. We countered with $800 over invoice but they refused to budge and whined that that represented a profit of "only" $800. It included a pitiful claim that they had to pay their detailers $500 to clean our car. Funny, isn't that what dealer prep is all about? When I questioned the manager about this, he suddenly became hostile and abruptly dismissed us! He also mumbled that the hour we took up of Greta's time should count for something! WTF? Who the hell is the customer? Since we already knew about the car, we did not even take it out for a test drive!! The kicker is the next day, we received a call from Greta apologizing for our treatment and that she spoke to her general manager and they decided to accept our offer. She gave us a total. However, the number did not agree with mine. I asked for a complete accounting of figures and costs from them. Hours later, I had to call to remind them to send the numbers to me. Reluctantly, they sent me the MSRPs of the car/options...very helpful indeed...Not! Fortunately, I had acquired all the invoice prices on my own, including the little known holdback price (additional dealer profit BEFORE the invoice is calculated) and the regional ad sales price (a total ripoff that they charge all customers). Bottom line is that their anticipated profit even at "only" $800 over invoice would have been in excess of $2000, yet they still felt the need to try to fraudulently slip in an additional $200 over our so-called agreed-upon price. When I called them on it, I was met with a pause before they magnanimously agreed to give in to my figures with no explanation whatsoever! The final straw came when we went in to sign the papers and have our trade-in appraised. Kelly Blue Book (which is apparently the biggest waste of time since no dealer ever agrees with their numbers) placed our car value at $8000. Even Black Book value was $5500-$7500. They low-balled us at $2000...then, when I questioned this valuation, I was again attacked. WTF?? Who the hell is the customer? Where is the courtesy? A simple "I'm sorry, but that's the best we can do" would suffice. This was the last straw...we stormed out. We would have expected this kind of bush-league penny-ante nickel and diming hucksterism if we were looking at used Kias or Yugos...but Lexus??? Really??? By the way, we finally bought our car in Nashville at $500 over invoice, and sold our old car to CarMax for $6000. Suck on that Lexus of Memphis!!! I had a similar experience with Lexus of Memphis. It was too late for me because I had already bought a car. The car will not downshift smoothly. After multiple attempts at repairs, the service rep said it was my fault because of the way I drove the car. He said I needed to learn how to drive that particular car. WHAT? I have been driving for 30 years. Hello! It is an automatic transmission. During the visits, the service was substandard. After one visit, I was handed the keys. I went out expecting my car to be out front. It was not. Since there was not any one around, I had to go search for my car on the back lot. On another visit, the car was pulled around front with mud splashed across the hood. I wrote a polite but firm complaint letter. I received a reply from the store manager, Stefan Smith. Basically, he told me to pound sand. He specifically told me that he had no problem with me going to a different dealership to buy my next car. I sent his letter to Lexus USA. They called and apologized for the content and tone of Smith's letter. Regardless of the Consumers Report evaluation, Lexus has quality issues.
