I have been a member of ION bank for more than a decade since it was Naugatuck Savings Bank. Over…read morethe years I have been extremely dissatisfied with their lack of any type of customer service, but this last incident takes the prize. I deposited a 20k bank check into the ION Bank ATM on Wed evening, a check that was dispersed from an account in my name at another CT bank. The reason I had to make a night deposit was because I recently moved out of the area and had no other way to move the funds without spending another $40 on a wire transfer - which I refused to do! So the ATM spit out a receipt that indicated that the funds would not be available until the following Monday. So I called the next day to let them know that I could not wait until Monday for the funds, nor should I have to considering that it is a BANK CHECK I deposited. I was told after being run around for 10 minutes that they would not help me and that I had no choice but to wait until Monday. They will not return the check, and they will not release my funds. I asked that I speak to a manager, and then to the regional manager - who never bothered to even return my call. What a scam. Take my money, pocket any interest they make. I'm closing my accounts with this shithole bank. Buyer beware - expect to be worked by this institution if you're dim enough to start an account after reading this review. It was…read morestate of the art..flag stone patios and a gorgeous fountain leading up to double gold doors..a receptionist greets one as one enters..the tellers are there to provide a service for the public..cashing checks/deposits etc.. More involved services (loans and such) were done by a variety of employees in private offices.. Anyway..this bank Webster....hmm.. you walk in and one of the tellers robotically yells out "HI. Welcome to Webster" But they are yelling out to the customer's back..so you have to turn around and say "thank-you"..the younger tellers aren't even looking up at you when you walk in..their heads are down and they are TEXTING. yep..Webster is paying it's tellers (who deal strictly with the public) to TEXT. Also, some of the tellers are unable to wait on customers who are waiting in line, because they are loudly carrying on elaborate financial conversations with clients over the phone..where is upper managment and why aren't THEY handeling these issues? Nope..not so great..

This Webster Branch is closest to my office and most convenient to handle most of my banking needs…read more I intentionallly drive past Wells Fargo and Bank of America Branches to bank at Webster. While I have used both of these other banks for some matters, when given the choice, I will go to Webster. Semra the branch manager is most attentave and always make my wife and I feel most welcome. She and her staff almost always take care of any challange in one visit.

5/27/21 As has always been my experience in my 48 years of being a member of this credit union…read more(through several name changes), the service is quick, friendly, and exceedingly competent. It's why I've never needed to make a change to any other banking institution.. In the past two weeks, they've begun using high technology to eliminate the need to fill out deposit/withdrawal/transfer slips. One tells the clerk what you want to do, and how much, and they have a palm print reader to substitute for your signature. Pretty cool!
