Disregard all other reviews!! This is by far the best comic store in the state of Michigan. It has the best selection of older titles I have seen in years. They also have the best collection of omnibus editions and graphic novel collections that you can find I could have spent much longer in there than I actually did. I will be back! read more

Pretty decent comics shop, and there's not many in this area of Macomb County. It's a fairly good size and you can find some oddball titles in with the more basic stuff. Liberty has a fairly robust selection of figurines, too, and while they're not my thing, they make for some good atmosphere and hey, word to the wise if that's your bag. What I really like here is the half off room. There's some real gems in the long boxes in there. I loaded up on these Essentials collections - huge collections on cheap newsprint in black and white but old school af, basically like a 101 for a few iconic characters. They were listed at like $13 to $16 a piece so at half off it was hours and hours of reading at less than $10 a pop. I read the original Iron Mans, Dr. Strange, the first few dozen Captain Americas when he was brought back in the 60s, a collection of solo comics from the Fantastic 4 Human Torch and a collection of 80s X-Men. X-Men and Dr. Strange especially lost something by lacking color, but I absorbed a massive amount of comics history at a bargain basement rate there. They had a Hulk collection I might go back and see if I can still pick up, too. Service might be a bit slow but that's only cause they're passionate and like to run their mouths with likewise opinionated customers. I remember I was in here after The Last Jedi came out and had to do the old AHEM! to get waited on at the register as the guy in front of me was already cashed out but he and the clerk running the register were just jawing away about the movie. It was no big deal, and their analysis was pretty entertaining, but don't be shy, just butt in if you need help. It's known this subculture can be fairly Aspergers but they seem like well intentioned folks here. Believe me, I've seen way worse... read more

My husband and son went there a few weeks ago and they told me that this place has a large selection of Marvel Selects, so we went back the next day to buy the Thanos figure for my son. We were greeted right away and my so. Ran right up to the Marvel Selects display and grabbed the Thanos. We browsed around at a bunch of comics and protector sleeves. My son put Thanos on the counter and the man at the register engaged I. Conversation with my son (he's four) about Thanos and playing with it, which was awesome and my son loved talking to someone about his cool new toy. The gentleman gave me a discount and when we asked about a rare figure, he gave us the owners card and told us to give him a call. Super nice and helpful! If you need a comic shop, look no further than Liberty Comics! This is, without a doubt, my favorite comic shop on the planet. The selection is outstanding, and you'll never have any trouble finding a newly released comic. The store layout is open and spacious, with an amazing selection of both old and new comics, as well as figures and collectibles. What really wraps everything together is the staff. Everyone who works there is extemely knowledgeable, and can help you find anything you need. They're also incredible kind and easy to talk to. This place reignited my interest in comics over the summer, and I am forever grateful. Wednesday can't come soon enough. read more

The staff come off as a little socially awkward, but hey it's a comic book shop so I didn't know what I expected really. Whenever I would ask a question I felt like I was bothering the employees, which is kind of sucks. They did take down a list of comics I wanted, to attempt to order them for me, which I thought was really cool. read more

My east side love affair! Big selection, easy to find, always a large clearance section, and it's easy to navigate. I always spend way too much money here because it definitely encourages browsing since it's so spacious. For some reason I feel like I get asked if I need help a lot here though..... Hopefully it's just good customer service though and not sexism! read more

This is a great comic book store very friendly and helpful and informative. It's a lot of space and they have just about every new comic or back issue that you were looking for. They also have some real nice key display case issues that are good priced lots of vintage classics. If you live outside of the east metro Detroit area this is definitely worth the drive because you won't find a better comic book store anywhere else. So I suggest stopping by here and seeing what the buzz is all about. read more

In my opinion you cannot find a better comic book store than Liberty Comics! It is small from the outside when you pass it on the street, but when you go inside it opens up and is filled with everything you could want. There are new comics/back comics/collectable comics, statues, action figures, trade paperbacks and much more. The owner is really nice, he is willing to give you deals on items if he can, and as a female comic book fan I felt totally comfortable in his store (which is hard to find in some comic book stores even in 2014). I am so happy I found Liberty Comics it is my new comic book hangout! read more

This place is fantastic. The most spacious comic shop Ive ever been to, and with a great variety of wares to peruse. More than just comics, you can find toys (boxed and unboxed), tshirts, posters, statues, and other miscellania. Theyve got a great bargain bin selection as well. Several shelves of trade paperbacks, separate from the periodical comics makes this a great place for the uninitiated and casual readers. Their monthlies shelves are bulging and many, offering not only DC and Marvel, but all the major indie publishers and a few really unusual choices as well (it is the only shop I know that carried the Barack Obama biography comics). The proprietor made a point to introduce himself to me when he recognized me as a new customer and made it very clear that he was there to help if I needed it. My only complaint is the tiny parking lot. Its a small quibble and doesnt change the overwhelmingly positive experience one gets from this shop. If you live on the east side and you dont already have a committed, monogamous relationship with another purveyor of comic books, this should be your first choice. read more
