The biggest issue was the portion size. The special only came with two tacos, which only contained 6 shrimp in total, which felt a little light for a meal. I was also surprised by the bar. I asked for a mojito and was told that they couldn't make drinks that are not on their menu. Not a deal breaker, but still disappointing because from the looks of it, they had a full-service bar, which I wouldn't think a mojito would be an issue to make. And no, I wasn't asking for a mojito during a busy time when the bartender was slammed. Overall, the food tasted very good and the waterfront location was hard to beat. The ground steak was tender, the gravy delicious, and the onions and mushrooms were yummy. The huge baked potato was perfectly cooked and they provided tons of butter and sour cream. The fresh broccoli was in a large container, tender, and not overcooked. There was even a nice soft roll. My son ordered the Delmonico steak, prepared, fairly rare, a big fat, baked potato, fresh broccoli, and roll. He thoroughly enjoyed every bite! I get it many places have their distinct look with the old 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' mantra, but it doesn't hurt to have updates here and there to bring newbies back. They have a stage area which has seen better days. And the bathrooms are set up in a way which can be uncomfortable. I didn't even bother using it here. With the food, it was okay. I had their seafood combo of clam strips and butterfly shrimp with fries on the side. I can tell the food wasn't homemade, especially the shrimp, but it was plenty to where I took some home for leftovers. Now here's where we run into issues. First off, the service was very slow. Keep in mind, it wasn't packed inside so it was no excuse for the waitresses to keep us waiting, especially for delivering drinks. Second, I ordered a Hoss's Hawaiian drink which was underwhelming. There wasn't even garnish on the glass. A drink with no pineapple, cherry or an orange slice....come on. Finally, their music selection was suspect. The first couple of songs included Judas Priest, Linkin Park and Nickelback, typical rock songs at a bar. Then, came acts like....Lisa Loeb and Dave Matthews Band??? I thought I was in a dive bar where bikers hung out, not a supermarket shopping for groceries. Me and some of the people were even laughing about it. Overall, not a good experience. Our group was able to snag a table right across the bar with no issues. For the whole night, foot traffic wasn't heavy. For the pub itself, it is a bit dated, but nothing where major updates are needed. They also have a separate section for billards and you can also smoke while enjoying company. All of us did order food while some sang karaoke (I didn't participate). For myself, I selected a fried petals basket which came with their house sauce. It was good enough for me since I ate earlier. The food was very good. Each fried onion was very crispy and their house sauce was a great compliment. I also decided to have one of their house drinks. The fruit bomb which consisted of Three Olives Loopy vodka and Red Bull. The drink was very good. Not too strong and just right. And for you diabetics out there like myself, the vodka is sugar free. The Red Bull does add sweetness to the drink, but your carb intake will be just fine. For a first timer, it was a good experience. A nice staff with some good food and spirts on hand.
