Mariah was so attentive and very friendly. She checked on our group of tables and made sure our drinks were full and our food was delivered hot. The atmosphere at Tailgate is fantastic. Wall-to-wall TVs let you catch your favorite sports events. There's a nice variety of seating to include the full bar, high top tables, two truck beds crafted into booths, and spacious outdoor seating with a corn hole game set up and more. The menu is loaded with so many options. We chose Boneless Wings and Loaded Fries. Both were so tasty! The Nachos were good, too. But, the Bavarian Pretzel Bites were definitely the MVP! OMG, these soft fried pretzel bites are amazing. They're a MUST try. If you're looking for a great place to relax and unwind, or celebrate with friends, look no further. We recommend The Tailgate Sports Pub whole-heartedly. Cheers!

Apparently I'm not the only person who knows about this authentic, fun, classic sports bar tucked into the back corner of the shopping center. The service is friendly and there's a 'locals' vibe. I've had most of their many varieties of wing flavors and haven't found one I don't like yet. Good selection of beer and very affordable prices.

Wings, burgers, Philly cheesesteak, etc... The beef nachos are made with the same meat as the cheesesteak, which I didn't love or hate. Different but not bad. I've never had anything here that wasn't acceptable. My son loves the TJ's Burger. The new TJ's (the old one was torn down and is now the parking lot in front of the new one) is a big open atmosphere with TV's everywhere you turn. As a huge sports fan, this makes me happy! The servers are pretty friendly overall. My issue is the service. Since this is pretty much the only night spot in town, and they regularly have bands, they can get pretty busy. That's great for business, but it's been awful for service. I'm hopeful they'll hire more staff, but it's been a couple of months since they opened the new building and the service is so so so SLOW. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say we sat there for over 15 minutes without so much as a 'I'll be with you in just a minute.' That would go a long way with people wondering if they're even seen. Instead we made eye contact with any waitress we saw in hopes of getting service. Ultimately we had to go up to the bar and get our beers and walk it back to the table. We told the bartender we would like to eat and she said she'd be right over. More than 10 minutes elapsed and still no one visited the table. We went back up to the bar to order. From that part on, service improved. It coincided with business slowing down. This was around 9:30 on their karaoke night (I think it was a Thursday.) If they can fix their service issues I'd recommend it as a good place to have a few beers and a bite to eat. Also to note - Tony, the owner, is a nice guy. I had the pleasure of having a beer and a couple shots with him at the old TJ's. He even gave me a tour of the building of the new one, which was near to see He's been there almost every time I've gone. I hope TJ's thrives here in Poquoson! Give them a try & keep in mind every business has growing pains.

Holly was our server and she took good care of us. She had several recommendations from the menu. From that, I was sold on the wings, and got the 8-piece ($13.50) with garlic Parmesan sauce. My wife got the chicken quesadillas ($8.29). Everything was excellent, except the upcharge for using a credit card to pay. Finally, I want to add that I loved the local (i.e. not where all the tourists go) neighborhood vibe with lots of sports memorabilia.

In addition to an 8 oz. patty, the buns are soft, they don't overwhelm the burger, and they hold together. Love that! You can build your own burger or choose from their selections, which include blue cheese burger, a burger topped with North Carolina BBQ, the Bourbon one with an onion ring, bacon, and cheese, and a grilled cheese with a burger. Plus there are a few more. Quite the variety! They also come with a side. The burgers were good--not overly seasoned. The Tuesday night we went, the place was packed by 5 pm. They had two birthday parties happening. Service was really friendly and helpful, though a little slow, probably due to the number of customers. It took 30 minutes for our burgers to arrive. I don't know if they take reservations, but we walked in and were seated right away. Parking is free and right out front. They have several TVs on the walks so you can watch your favorite sport.
