This is a SCAM albeit a good one. From the start they mail you a test kit and tell you to mail…read moreeverything back, should have been a first red flag (if you receive this in the mail keep it and send it to the city) but we had just received a letter from the city so we were curious about getting our water tested. Then they called in said we had 70% dissolved solids in our water and i asked for supervisor when the lady didnt know what i was talking about when i said are you sure its not ppm parts per million. Supervisor called and clarified it was ppm. Next a tech came out. From the get go it sounded very aggressie sales person pitch. At one point he asked for my wife to come down and said they require both to be present. I asked whose "they" and he avoided answering, he kept saying they require it and I kept asking who they is and he finally said his company. Clearly trying not to give up the ruse that they're not affiliated with the city. So clearly they're trained to not do anything "illegal", pretty scummy. I told him no my wife isn't coming down. I asked what he was trying to sell me and he said nothing, we provide solutions. Disolved solids in the water. First thing, disolved solids in your water is not inherently bad. They know this because when i asked about any EPA regulations, they avoided it and kept going back to the EWG. Though at one point the sales person did lie to me and said the EWG standards were set by the EPA as i was asking too many questions. At this point Tracy got confrintational and went back to the ppm of disolved solids. To keep this brief, they try to get you to freak out that stuff is in your water (this is why they wanted my wife present and tried to 'require it'), very scummy. I asked, if they were specifically going to test what was in my 119 ppm disolved solid water (whichs pertty good!) and he said, "no". I asked, "How then could i know if i need a 'solution' if i dont know what is in the water, it could be harmless or even beneficial. At this point the salesperson, Tracy, got aggressive with their sales pitch. "Oh your an engineer, how could an engineer want poop in their water". He scraped his shoe at some point in the interaction to try and suggest that the disolved solids in my water were poo poo. First, cities are required to keeps pipes pressurized greater than the outside pressure so that if there is a leak, it goes outward. Pretty efficent, not perfect but its extremely unlikely that there is poo poo in your water at any harmable amount. His last comment was extremely aggressive in tone and also just a really bad way to try and get anyone to buy anything. I asked him to then leave and he did so and was pretty respectful after that. All that to say, do not do anything through this company. They're trying to hide under the guise of being the city (they wont say it but they will use "they" a lot). Don't let them intimidate you or your wife (how f'd up is that). If you have been affected by this and beleive it is a scam you have every right to report them to the FTC for being fradulent, contact the consumer protection division, and/or send a message to your local city provider and tell them what occured.

Very dishonest and deceptive. They attempt to mask the fact they want to sell you something and…read moregive the impression they are with the city or some independent agency testing the water. Clever name, they got me to open the door. That being said, I don't know what the guy I talked to on the phones position is, but "Jim" was out right an ass hat. Told him I wanted to do more research and look into the company and he almost verbatim said, "What research? We already do/did it for you. Do you think you are a scientist collecting you own samples?" The audacity of these people. Really great way to sell your product.
