We should have known not to order a wine at a "whiskey bar". Condescending gentleman tending bar quipped as we ordered. How the hell would we know? I've never been here before so we rolled with it. I also made the mistake of asking for a water before I was scolded that water "was in the brown container"! ( they have a water container but was empty). I feel my date and I were respectful and polite but were treated like the bartender didn't like us. This place is great and very near our home. The place has a bit of a divey feel but is rather large and bottle after bottle of whiskey and scotch line the walls only accessible with the bartender key. The selection of scotches and whiskeys is larger than I have ever seen which is surprising for a place off 90th and fort. The music mix is one of the best I have heard and the bartenders don't forget who you are. I came in the day before Thanksgiving, which was a very busy night, ordered a cocktail, went back to the bar about 40 minutes later and the guy still remembered who I was and what I had just finished drinking. I was very impressed - he was only one of two bartenders there. I will definitely be back! read more

Good pub for whiskey lovers. The owner was tending bar on Christmas Day. I had hunted a bit for a tavern that was open. He suggested several different bourbons for me. I settled on an Old Forester 1920. Generous pour. Friendly and accommodating of my internet needs. Atmosphere dark. They have a lot of obscure and expensive bottles on the shelf. The shelves that are not lined with bottles are lined with books. Country music in the background which I was enjoying. The owner was filling in for the bartender, who took that country off soon after he arrived. He probably would have left it on if I asked, but as a non-regular I didn't want to overstep. read more

If you are a beer or whiskey nerd this is easily one of the best pubs in Omaha to visit. Their selection of beer, bourbon, and scotch is beyond impressive. The beer selection is always changing, and the staff has a good amount of knowledge if you're looking for something special. Bar is nice and clean with comfortable chairs, popcorn, and a decent amount of televisions. Maybe my only complaint is that for a pub that has such a focus on bourbon I've never had a truly great old fashioned made here. Maybe it's just the bartender I get, but that is something I hope they improve on, but overall a good place. read more

Great place. A little out-of-the-way but if you're in the Benson area it's worth a stop if you're into beers and especially scotch. I also learned here for the first time the magic of half pint glass (critical if you're out on a beer tasting day). The bartenders were helpful and regulars seemed friendly. The location and lighting make it look lower-middle class, but they pour upper-middle-class drinks. One of the best beer tap lists in town, and probably the best whiskey selection in town, which is an impressive combination. If you want a mixed drink, try the whiskey sour, they make it with a fresh-squeezed lemon. Their bartenders don't play top-40 music. The bookshelves on the wall make the acoustics in the back pretty reasonable. It's open during the afternoons and quiet on weekdays. Quite recommended. read more

Hands down best bourbon selection we've seen in a while. The feel here is half private library half neighborhood bar. This place would be our regular watering hole- love the atmosphere and we felt like welcome friends- but I'm extremely allergic to cats and their kitty has been at home there for a while judging by my sniffling and watery eyes. I could probably double medicate myself and get through it but I'm bot sure how much I'd enjoy it at that point. A good vacuuming everyday might take care of the situation. But I'm sure they do clean the place the restroom was very clean. Maybe just a good dusting? Anyway, great place if your not allergic. read more

Love this bar. First went for a date (yay, Bumble!). While the guy was a dud, this bar is not! I love the super chill vibe, and the decor. The darker colors and wood are rich and inviting. This bar has small dance floor area, where the dud and I danced a bit. The bartenders were super cool and chill, and were able to make all the different drinks we ordered. While we were initially seated at a hightop table, we spent a lot of time at the bar itself, talking with other patrons and the bartenders. Appreciate the chill bar that was within 10 minutes of the house. Great having a location like this in this part of town. read more

This is a great bar. Excellent selection of tap beer plus an enormous selection of whiskey. Like bigger than the selection at Dundee Dell. It's pretty glorious. The Library Pub is also clean and plenty spacious. Sit at the bar and chat with the day-drinking regulars and the bartender or grab some buds and spread out at a table. Don't be fooled by the modest exterior. This ain't no dive bar (although they will accommodate your Coors Light needs if necessary). I tried Zip Line's 7-hop IPA and the Duet IPA from Alpine Brewing. Then I finished things off with a Manhattan, rye whiskey and dry. I could've stayed all night, but reason started to kick in once I realized it was only 5:30pm and I had a serious buzz going on. If I lived closer, I'd definitely make this "my bar." But I don't live nearby, so I'll gladly put it in my regular rotation instead. read more

A dimly lit interior greets you upon entry. The walls are lined with over 250 bottles of Whiskeies. there are like every aged kind you can think of.Lagavulan? which age? Tasty Manhattans (Chris K, looking at you) and generally great cocktails come from the bar. A very bartender was on and he happened to be more of a Stout person whereas I am an IPA guy. 7 hop IPA was a great start. Then I noticed the Monk's Cafe Flemish Red. Seriously one of my all time favorites. Add to the selection of beverages the music, Frank S and pals, good company, and this is a really solid bar. read more

For the longest time, whenever I mentioned to someone that I was a whisk(e)y geek, they'd invariably respond "so you've been to the Library Pub, right?" Sadly, I hadn't. Once I corrected this oversight, I immediately understood why that was the unanimous reaction. In Omaha, this place is a mecca for whisk(e)y lovers. They have an enormous selection of Scotch, organized by region and presented in a tome that is both impressive and intimidating, with descriptions, tasting notes, and photos on every page. It can be a bit out of date (particularly the prices), but that's to be expected when you're managing an inventory as large as this. They also have a great variety of bourbons and American whiskies. There's no "bible" to keep those organized, but they're nicely presented in their own nook of the bar (a recent addition). The selection is seriously impressive and well curated, making it hard to choose a dram to try. Thankfully, with their pricing, you don't need to stop at just one. The Library is incredibly fair with their prices, marking up their pours far less than just about any bar around. It's not uncommon to find a rare Scotch that they're pouring for less than half what another bar charges (if other bars have it at all). Oh, and their pours seem to be about twice as hefty as most bars offer - you may want to take an Uber here...). The one downside to enjoying whiskies at the Library is that they don't really have proper glassware, just oversized shot glasses. This might diminish the experience a bit for some people, but you know what? I just enjoy being able to try great whiskies at reasonable prices. Oh, I should also mention their beer selection. The draft list is not the largest, but it IS among the most varied in town, and usually jam packed with odd, unusual, or rare offerings. Several times I've looked it over and noticed a beer that I didn't even realize was available in Nebraska. Just like with the whiskies, it's hard to choose just one. Thankfully, the Library Pub offers flights...very, VERY generous flights. Rather than 4-5 four ounce pours (the standard for most bars, it seems), The Library offers flights in sets of six hefty pours (I think they must be nearly half a pint each). I strongly recommend getting a flight to share with a friend. This is easily one of my favorite bars in Omaha. If you like good beer and whisk(e)y, it'll probably become one of yours, too. read more

Library has a wonderful selection of single malt scotch whisky. That's mainly why I go here, and am constantly impressed by the prices and the pours. If I had one complaint, it would be the glassware used; it's nowhere near the Glencairn glasses that I use at home, and it's not easy to nose a whisky with a large-top tumbler. read more

This place is one of the best whisky bars in the country. If you've been to Jack Rose in DC or Delilah's in Chicago, then you'll be at home here. Mark (owner) has a passion for all things Scotch, bourbon or rye. The atmosphere is quaint/cozy and there's always good conversation. He has some TV's for sports but it's not a sports bar. This is authentically a whisky hang. The real competitive advantage of this place is that Mark sells pours for 25% to 50% less than the Dundee Dell or Grain. You can get anything rare here at a better price. The thing I love is that Mark doesn't suffer fools and will not just let any dumbass buy rare Scotch. I once saw a guy order Parker Heritage to go into a Coke and Mark refused. You don't treat good bourbon like that. This is a place for whiskey and craft beer aficionados, everyone else can get their Jack Daniels and Miller Lite someplace else. read more

What's not to love about Library Pub? I recently had my second visit, and I have to say that I just wish I lived a little closer to here! With all of the options in Blackstone, I don't tend to venture out of my own neck of the woods a whole lot, and Library Pub showed me that I really should. First off, the staff and the regulars at the bar were great! They were all very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a four-page craft beer list that was also outstanding! What really stands out here, though, is the collection of whiskys, bourbons, and scotches! I thought the prices were all very reasonable. The bar was clean and inviting. We had a party of 20. Customer service was horrible!! They would not let my 73 yr old father in the bar because he had an N on his jacket. They said he had to take it off or he could not come in. These were the new rules of the owner because they had a huge gang fight a couple of weks ago. The owner had on a nebraska coat though. My father also does not usually carry an ID if he is not driving and they would not let him in because of that. So we had to leave to get his ID so he could hang out with his family. This man fought in vietnam and you won't let him in because he did not bring an id. He was not even drinking. This place is a joke and the owner, in my opinion, is a arrogant POS!!! I wish when we stopped here it wasn't after a long night of drinking, but had instead been stop one. If we had come here first, I could have taken the time to read through the beer list, and perhaps decided on a nice scotch for myself. But alas, the self proclaimed leader of our group ordered a round of brews for us and no scotch was had. At least I got to enjoy the ambiance of this place.
