Last year our 9-year-old brought home lice from school. It was a nightmare, but we dealt with it. So THIS year when I found bugs on our 11-month-old boy, I wasn't completely shocked, just highly annoyed. Do they even screen kids anymore in school? When our big one came home I went though his head and found what I thought were eggs (which now I think it might have been lint) so I bought the same old shampoo and "de-loused" everyone and everything in the house. 5 days later.. see the same tiny bugs I pulled off of the baby. NO WAY. I pulled off at least a dozen and a half of these pinhead sized bugs. That night we called Lice Happens. Emily came by the next morning at 9 am. She was incredibly informative and very nice, patient, and attentive with the boys. Paper towel after paper towel proved that we were all lice free. I thanked her, she left, and I started to think I was crazy! The next day I found several more of these tiny bugs, so I bagged them and went to the pediatrician. They were clueless. She thought it was dandruff until she held it up to the light "oh yeah, it does have tiny legs! Maybe you can call an exterminator and ask them?" So 100 google searches and 3 hours later, I went to the dermatologist and They pronounced it lice, and sent me off to buy a prescription shampoo. After calling BACK lice happens (Carol and Nancy) and telling them the whole scenario, I sent photos of what I had bagged. It so happens Nancy had these pesky critters before and they were NOT in fact lice. They were seed ticks!! A.k.a. baby ticks. These girls are awesome. We offer professional, confidential, and complete in-home head lice treatment and head lice removal services in just one visit, using all-natural products and the most effective professional head lice removal methods and tools available today.

History

Established in 2009.

I've dealt with hundreds of families affected with head lice during my sixteen years as a nurse, especially during the last seven years as a school and camp nurse. I find it very rewarding to help families get their lives back to normal by providing hands-on treatment to eliminate the infestation, and straightforward, accurate information to help families avoid the cycle of re-infestation. The feeling of satisfaction I have after helping a family through this experience, and giving them the tools and knowledge they need to tackle the problem, is what I love most about the work we do at Lice Happens.

My past experience as a licensed cosmetologist and the skills I gained as a hairstylist are a natural fit for the Lice Happens team. I wanted to make a valuable contribution to my community, and when I discovered how great the need for head lice removal services was in Delaware, I contacted Lice Happens. We discovered lice on our 6-year old's head on a Sunday night. We were horrified as this was our first experience with lice. I called the number and immediately was connected to a very kind and understanding Emily, who set up an appointment for early the next morning with Jacki. In two hours, our family of four was checked, cleaned up, and empowered with knowledge about all things lice- related. It's actually not as horrific as we thought. Totally treatable. Jacki was patient and very efficient. Other people I know who dealt with lice tried all kinds of toxic products that didn't work, and ended up spending more than I did. Money well-spent here.
