I arrive for my appointment and while I'm waiting the receptionist comes over and tells me that they don't take my insurance and that they would not be able to see me. I explain to her that I told the lady on the phone my insurance had changed and was told they did take my new insurance. She very rudely tells me when we are training and that's not her fault and before I could respond she storm's off. I tried to speak to the doctor about it and she told me it wasn't her problem and shrugged me off. Terrell Eye Associates will NOT be getting anymore business from me!

Dr. Cleetus has wasted half of my rare off day, and I still don't have a new prescription. I am not going back, and if you have Superior Vision, you should also avoid Target and LensCrafters locations at this time. It was difficult to find a provider who was in network and available on weekend days. I initially appreciated the online methods to make an appointment because in my line of work, I can't make a phone call during normal business hours to schedule an appointment. I did my due diligence: I was informed of my benefits and I searched for in-network providers on my insurance website. Chose Dr. Cleetus because she was listed for both services I was seeking--routine exam and contact lens fitting--and because she had recent, good reviews on multiple platforms. In the days leading up to the appointment, I filled out all the forms I was sent. Arrived 30 min early, which was great because I found out that the location is different from Target Optical. Target Optical sells glasses and is inside Target. Dr. Cleetus' office is outside. During the check in process, I learned that there was a discrepancy. From my insurance website, I expected contact lens fitting to be covered by my plan with only a copay on my end, but on their end (they use Luxottica for their online portal), they didn't see contact lens fitting among my benefits. As such, I was asked to pay for the contact lens fitting out of pocket. I verified that there would not be a penalty for day-of cancellation, and then I left to call my insurance for clarification. My insurance company explained that because of the website portals that optometrists affiliated with Target and LensCrafters choose to use, there is currently a technical issue. They are unable to see all the benefits a patient has. This location had not reported the issue to Superior Vision and had instead been charging patients out of pocket for what is supposed to be covered. It is each clinic's responsibility to notify patients of these issues when scheduling the appointment. I was never notified of this. My insurance spoke with Dr. Cleetus on my behalf. The office confirmed that I had shown up for my appointment. They refused to offer me a free contact lens fitting for my inconvenience. The best they could offer was to submit a claim. When asked what compensation she would be able to offer me for my wasted half-day and gas money, she said she did not feel obligated to do so. I was advised by my insurance to go elsewhere. Of note, they also offer additional services at an additional out-of-pocket cost. I had already selected to opt out on the online form prior to my appointment. Upon checking in, I again felt pressured to change my mind. We only moved on after I explained that I had undergone some of those portions of the exam before but did not have the budget for them today. As a young healthy person, I would not have derived much benefit from such services. I wish the healthcare professionals would have considered whether such harmless but pricey tests were truly indicated for me instead of just pushing anyone to pay for additional services. This practice failed to communicate with my insurance company when there was a technical issue. This practice failed to communicate to me in advance of my appointment. This practice feigned ignorance and said this situation only happens on occasion. The only way that might be true is if they don't have any Superior Vision patients. From the way they responded, it's clear they don't need me as a customer. I hope they see their other paying customers as patients and not wallets.

I went here for new glasses…read more The experience was uneven. I went in to ask if they do eye exams for new glasses and they said yes but were "completely booked" for the day. It was about 11am. They gave me some options for the following week which did not work for me, so I was just standing there thinking about what to do when the receptionist said "can you come today at 1pm?" I said sure, not questioning why the booked schedule had changed suddenly. I arrived at 1pm and no other customers were in line for an exam or anything else. In fact, during my whole time there I saw zero people there for an exam, so where the "full schedule" came from is a master to me. They tried to start off with an eye exam but their first machine broke or was not functioning. Luckily, I had recent paperwork from my other eye doctor that they could use, otherwise I was wasting my time and would have to come back another time. They accepted my paperwork so we were in business. After the exam was completed, I chose my frames--they have a decent selection with different price tiers--and Issac worked with me on the price. At the point of purchase I was told that they would text me when the glasses were ready. A week later, I had heard nothing so I called and was told the glasses had arrived. I went in the next day to get my new glasses. I am happy with them, they fit well and I can see clearly again. The day after I picked up my glasses I received a text that my glasses are ready for pickup.
