This is a cute little museum featuring exhibits, shows, and interactive stations related to…read morescience, history, technology, and more. There is a very nice little planetarium (the Scidome), and viewing a show is included in the price of admission. We saw "From Earth to the Universe," which provided a crash course on astronomy throughout history and a look at our galaxy and the universe. The first floor of the space features a lot of interactive and hands-on activities, such as building a circuit, learning about your body, building and racing cars from objects like Legos, plus a 6-and-under play area. The hot shop is also located in this area, and it was very interesting to watch them work with the hot glass (and a very pleasant space to be in on such a cold day!) Upstairs is a wealth of local and regional historical information for Newark and Licking County and its citizens and discoveries. A giant mastadon skull greets you as you come up the stairs, as the Burning Tree Mastadon was found in the county. The Jerrie Mock exhibit, complete with a flight simulator and a replica of her airplane, the Spirit of Columbus, was extremely popular with the kids. (Jerrie Mock, a Newark native, was the first woman to fly solo around the world). A little historic village, complete with cash registers, scales, and games is also available to walk through on this level. Given the weather, we didn't spend as much time out in the courtyard as we probably would have otherwise, but we definitely made it over to the building housing the interurban railway car, the back end of which you can walk in and look around the interior of. There's also a really well done mural on the topic out by the parking lot. Staff was friendly and welcoming, and the museum was clean and comfortable. There is plentiful parking outside. A small gift shop, including items made in the hot shop, is available near the entrance.

My niece loves to go to another children's museum in a nearby city. Unfortunately, it's a little…read morepricey for what it has to offer beyond your 1st visit & there is very little for adults to interact with & engage. We recently went to Cosi 1 weekend instead. The Works is hands down a better experience than the other children's museum. This is now her favorite of the 3 places we've been. Unfortunately, the glass blowing was closed for routine maintenance & we have plans to return when open again. The bottom floor houses the small planetarium & hands on exhibits & play areas for kids & upstairs is more informative displays of the local area, the Works history & a brief technology over view. I've heard there's a café associated with the museum across the outdoor area but we didn't look into that the day we were there. 10/10 recommend a visit if you're in the area & looking for something new, fun & educational for kids to do.

Sweetie and I came to see Pat Benatar, who put on a great show. The building is probably from the '50s and is in great shape. Not huge, probably a thousand or so seats? The seats are old-style theater seats, and were comfortable for the whole show. Laid out in the traditional theater style, with several sections downstairs and a small balcony. Entry and exit were pretty efficient and simple. Acoustics were great, lighting was effective. The ushers were super friendly and helpful. It looked like concessions and bathrooms were downstairs though we didn't use either. There's plenty of free parking, and street parking nearby too. It was easy to get out of the lot and back on the highway. We had a great experience, and I would definitely come to see another show here.

I was excited when Groupon offered a coupon for discounted admission to The Haunt. The description…read moreon The Haunt website describes a great adventure consisting of three components: a haunted house, a 5 acre corn maze, and a haunted forest. Sounded great, but the description was FAR from reality. First of all, the order of events was not as described. The website says you go through the house, then to the corn maze, then through the woods. We actually started off in the maze, then went through the woods, and ended in the house. The maze was nothing like I would have imagined. The corn was dead stalks that were mashed down into slightly convoluted pathways. The only mystery involved was trying to figure out which mashed down sections were actually paths and which were just areas that had been smashed by passersby and "actors." Figuring it out was made difficult by the godawful glaring spotlight that was positively BLINDING and unpleasant. We were told to follow the lights on the ground leading through the "haunted forest." Problem was that the lights were blinding, which was especially bad, given the dangers of holes and dropoffs throughout. My husband nearly fell into a large hole, inside which a "monster" was lurking in wait. To top it off, the light path we were supposed to follow would suddenly disappear, leaving us without a clue as to where to go. The "haunted house" was the absolute lamest thing I have EVER seen. We entered the house through the basement, then went up the stairs, through the bathroom, and then out. There was nothing at all scary about anything in this house and it was a very short path. The scariest part was navigating the downhill path to the basement in the dark. Very dangerous. Unlike other haunted houses I have been to, this one had no special effects or animatronics. Furthermore, the actors were nearly all 7 year olds in skull masks and the make up job on those wearing it was really bad. I also take issue with the fact that REAL dead animals were used. I am disturbed by the fact that dead rabbits, who appear to have been killed unnecessarily just for the purpose of this event, were displayed and touched by unwitting patrons. There was also a real hog head. This is problematic because it is unsanitary. People touch these things accidentally and can pick up bacteria that they can then transfer elsewhere. Overall, this "haunted" exhibit was very amateurish, boring, unscary, and actually dangerous, due to the lack of visibility in treacherous terrain. It was definitely not worth the time, but had I not had less than 1/2 price admission, I would be thoroughly pissed!

Close to lots of dining options for pre or post movie meals. 4. Shows limited release movies. 5. Restrooms are very clean. Cons: 1. The theatre our movie was in was the smallest I have ever been in. Five rows of seats total. Even in the last row, it was uncomfortably close to the screen. 2. Did not seem to have surround sound and movie dialogue was sometimes hard to hear. 3. Parking situation is a little wonky. They have a small shared lot behind the theater, but there is no back door into the theatre (?) You have to walk around the block or through the grocery store parking lot to get to the front entrance.

I was here on a Friday afternoon to see Wicked. Purposefully choosing a theater showing time…read morebefore kids would be out of school and for which few tickets were sold. I had heard that people in theaters were singing along loudly to the music and I wanted to avoid that at all costs. I also didn't want to sit near anyone so I wasn't distracted. I liked being able to see the status of seating and tickets sales online and the ability to buy my ticket that way - but wasn't too happy about the service charge I had to pay to do so. Anyways, I got to the theater a few minutes before the posted start time. I waited at the ticket window only to find out that I could go right up to the ticket taker and they would scan my e ticket. Lesson learned. When I got to the theater, I was the ONLY person there. PERFECT. Unfortunately, a bunch of ladies came in right before the previews started and talked loudly through the entire preview screening. I guess that OK as I wasn't watching the previews - I just kept playing on my phone until the movie started. Once the movie started, they shut up and kept quiet the whole time. For those that don't know - Wicked (part 1) is 2 hours and 40 minutes run time - plus the previews. I have a chronic hamstring issue and quickly found out that these seats were not good for that pain. I spent the WHOLE time squirming and readjusting my sitting position as I never found a good way to sit. Yet another reason no one was sitting near me as I would have drove them nuts. In the future, I don't know if I'd come to see a movie here again. I know that Crosswoods has leather recliners and I am able to sit comfortably in them. I had considered seeing Wicked there - but there times/seating was not attractive. The movie experience itself was great. No complaints about picture or sound. The movie kept me engaged and I only thought about how long I'd been there a couple times and was tempted to check my watch - but I did not. However, by the time the movie ended, I was about at the end of my attention span and ability to sit any longer. The e ticket option - now that I know that I can skip to the ticket taker - is quite convenient. Parking was good at that time of day but I know it can be challenging for more popular show times. Food and drink prices are insane so I brought my own bottle on Diet Mt Dew in. Restrooms were good and I somehow managed not to have to use the facilities during the movie - but I sure needed it as soon as the movie was over. Again - location good. I find it easier to manage than going to Easton Town center which is equally near my house. So if you're looking for a nice, casual movie theater with no bells or whistles in seating, this is your place. It just might not be the place for me again, unless somehow my hamstring magically heals. Doubtful since it's been problematic for almost 10 years.
