So today I ordered from the Tyson's location. The item I received today is now over 2 months past its best by date (05/29/26) and it should've been removed from the shelves. They need to check their stock and remove expired items. The DC store had a best by date of 7/9/26.

I went into Giant last year. I was having problems with my Giant rewards account and logging in, I called support for help and spoke to a local person. Giant support is still in MD and PA. That impressed me. I had been shopping a lot at Lidl and when I was walking around Giant o saw many of the prices were compatible. I also love how Giant had many local food products including Ben's Chili, Ledos pizza and local bakery items. It's nice walking into a grocery store that anywhere you turn you see a Giant employee and they are always friendly and happy to help. Giant is my go to grocery store now and it has been for the the past year and don't know why but I get excited when I pull up to my local Giant.

I was able to get all of my pre-ice storm charcuterie and snacks, along with some fresh fruits and veg to hold me over until the world defrosted again. Despite they're being so many people in the store, I was able to get parking fairly quickly and the store wasn't really crowded. There were a lot of people there but the layout made it easy to move around. What I loved most about my last visit was the absolutely gorgeous selection of flowers they had. I was able to leave with some beautiful options, including some flowers I've never heard of, to create some gorgeous bouquets to decorate the house. I was impressed with how long those flowers lasted. They didn't even start to wilt until about 2 and 1/2 weeks after I brought them home. They looked good for well over 3 weeks and it was a sad day when I had to finally toss them. I've never had flowers last that long from any other store, including other Trader Joe's locations. I'm not sure what love and affection they're feeding those flowers but keep it up! Of course, as always, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful... One of the reasons why I absolutely love shopping at Trader Joe's.

They also have some outdoor seating and have both cashiers and self checkout-- the self checkout line does tend to have somewhat long lines anytime I go though. Second, there never seems to be enough staff working the checkout lanes. Regardless of the day or time, even during busy evening hours, customers are often forced to use self-checkout. On my most recent visit, I had a very large order and was still directed to self-checkout. It took an unreasonable amount of time to complete my purchase because I needed repeated assistance with machine and scanning errors. I understand that self-checkout is a convenience for some shoppers, but it should not be the only practical option for customers with large orders. I am a customer, not a grocery store employee, and I shouldn't have to struggle through checking out an entire cart of groceries myself. Safeway has a great location in a wonderful neighborhood, but the customer service and overall customer experience need significant improvement.
