The self-checkout area is easy to use, and there are always friendly staff members nearby if you need assistance. Parking is convenient, and you'll receive 90 minutes of validation with a minimum $10 purchase. The entrance and exit to the garage are a bit narrow, but I've never had trouble finding a parking spot. One thing to keep in mind: the parking garage at The Boro can be confusing. I had an extremely frustrating experience at Whole Foods. Cashier #4 did not complete my transaction, but while I was packing my purchase, she abruptly declared, "I am done," and called the next customer. I was still entering my credit card information and had to finish the payment with the next customer standing right next to me. Her demeanor was rude, unprofessional, and made me feel unsafe. I went to the customer service counter to ask for a manager. I explained the situation and asked whether it was standard practice to interrupt a transaction in a way that exposes a customer's payment information and creates discomfort for both the customer being interrupted and the next one in line. The staff member replied that this was "common" and "good practice" because there were only a few cashiers, even though the store was not crowded in the early afternoon. When I asked for a higher-level manager, he claimed to be the manager but refused to provide his name or contact information, saying, "You may not have it." His name tag says "Bryan". The entire experience--from the rude and abrupt cashier to the dismissive customer service supervisor--was incredibly uncomfortable and, frankly, bizarre. I am left questioning whether it is acceptable for Whole Foods staff to expose customers' payment information and create such a stressful situation. read more

We have all heard the jokes on the high prices although I have found other supermarkets to have even higher prices for the items I normally consume (e.g., Wegmans). However, the high review I am providing today is for the expertise and sincerity shown by a fish monger. Yesterday, I had a dinner party and was planning to do mussels. I headed to Whole Foods and as you could imagine asked for a lot of them. The person behind the counter went to the back and pulled several bags. She started inspecting each mussel for its quality and after some time she was honest enough to tell me that most of them were already dead and that she could not sell them to me. She went ahead and discarded over 6 pounds of the product. I then asked about getting oysters. Because I had told her that I had a party at night she suggested that she could have all 48 oysters chucked in 15 minutes or so, but if I was consuming them at night, that I should chuck them until much later (I went in the morning hours). I know this all sounds like a nightmare, but I saw it as an extremely knowledgeable person guiding me as to what was best for me and my guest. I ended up with fish fillets. read more

Love the urban vibe of the Whole Foods at The Boro. The fresh pasta particularly the ravioli varieties are delicious - Spinach and Cheese Ravioli, Mushroom, and Lemon Artichoke. The fettuccine pasta is quite tasty and cooks al dente! The rose sauce is my pick (not as big of a fan as the marinara, alfredo, and pesto sauces). Love the Whole Foods brand of frozen lemon pepper tofu, pairs well with pasta! There's an impressive selection of iced tea, kombucha, cold-pressed juices, sparkling water, and 0 and low cal/sugar drinks. There's a great wine, cider, and hard seltzer selection too! The Yoju cocktail 4 pack tastes likes a creamsicle and East Ciders 4 pack of cider is my go-to! The fresh crispy corn and flour nacho chips are tasty! Definitely check the expiration date on the bags as some batches are fresher than others. The guac is also quite tasty as well and the top shelf always has the freshest batch. The Salad Bar is impressive with different healthy toppings packed with quinoa and veggies. Love making a hearty salad! In terms of the hot sides/entrees, the Roasted Mushrooms are well-seasoned and bursting with flavor. The Cheese Lasagna is quite tasty and I love the side of Smoked Mozzarella Pasta salad. The food from the hot bar is good when it's the freshest in the afternoon, it gets very soggy and brittle by the evening. The mushroom alfredo ravioli was very mushy and egg roll lost its crispiness with brittle edges. For Thanksgiving, I spent $100 buying a Turkey Boneless Roast, Green Bean Casserole, Stuffing, Creamed Spinach, Veggie Meatloaf, etc. The food was quite bland, dry, and not very flavorful. The Veggie Meatloaf was dense and dry, so I mixed it with pasta sauce and made ragu with it, which elevated the flavor and added a nice healthy component to the pasta. I would skip the sides next time. The vegan PLNT carry-out restaurant tucked in the front of Whole Foods is delicious and been there over a dozen times, try the Green Bean fries! They are surprisingly delicious! Don't forget the bar upstairs! It features a wide selection of beer on tap, wine, and cocktails that are super affordable and rotate out. I got a glass of sangria for only $4. So sad Curiosity donuts closed, the decadent donuts were divine. Not a fan of the Ramen bar. The garden veggie sushi rolls are healthy and quite tasty. Nearby are a handful of any gender bathrooms with plenty of sinks to wash your hands at. The restrooms are kept clean. 3) Local: They emphasize local from the produce to the large alcohol section. Stay away from this whole food ! Go to Vienna where you don't encounter employees with attitudes. Unfortunately this new McLean location hires rude and unprofessional employees who seem like you are bothering them if you ask for their help! In the meat area they were bunch of them congregating around the meat counter but not paying attention to who needs help! I felt uncomfortable to approach them since their body language was like don't bother me!! When I finally went to asked them a question they didn't even want to answer they were like maybe we ran out of the item go ask the other guy! Tell you the truth I just put back what was in my hand and walked away! Same in the pizza area when I asked for a slice and the guy in the back rudely said" you can pick it up yourself the boxes are there" I wanted him to warm it up but after his attitude I did not ask! I bought the pizza anyway it was cold and salty I had to threw it out!! There is no shortage of workers but they just walk around pretending doing something except for few of them most just look at you with attitude!! The food court at the Whole Foods at the Boro has its limitation.  The upper floor dining area is spacious with different types of seating groupings from more comfy chairs to tables with charging stations.  There are plenty of nongender specific bathrooms although they were not that clean when we visited.  We chose to try the ramen bar at the Whole Foods below.  The offerings were pretty limited but the ramen was ok.  Nothing to convince anyone to dine here versus any of the super ramen places in Tysons.  I suppose it is convenient if you are at the Boro already though there are also lots of great places to eat in that development.  It is a little inconvenient to haul your soup up the stairs even using a tray.  And, we were disappointed to see, that when we asked for water and were told it was upstairs, there were no cups or anything - just a water fountain which many people hesitate to use post covid and a bottle filling station.  The service was friendly and efficient at the ramen ordering bar.  Although I like to shop at Whole Foods on occasion, I really hate how complicated and tight the parking garage is.  So, in the future, I will probably continue to visit another easier location like the one in Vienna and purchase my ramen at a regular ramen restaurant close by. read more

I was accosted by the store manager at the garage entrance and accused of not paying for my items!!! Never mind the fact that I know this manager from his time at both the Clarendon and Fair Lakes locations. Once I showed my receipt, he asked me - very strangely - what I was doing "out here" - is if I'm not supposed to shop at Tysons just because I don't live there. Do I have to justify to Whole Foods staff why I'm in the Tyson's area? That question of his was completely irrelevant and quite honestly, none of his business why I'm out in that area. He then (very passive aggressively) went on to give me the details of the store opening closer to where I live. To be honest the only reason why I shop here is because it's not as crowded as the other locations, and also the PLNT burger location inside this store. He still seemed suspicious of me even after I showed him my receipt and asked him if he wanted to see inside my bags. Whole Foods is honestly overrated now since Amazon's takeover. We love Whole Foods and decided to check this new location out. We were already in the area for lunch and WF's was right beside the restaurant. They have their own parking garage, which felt like entering a busy mall. The employees directing traffic are awesome and have a great sense of humor. The day we visited, this place was packed. They have a large variety of all sorts of deliciousness. Their baked goods section is always dangerous. Restrooms, a game hall, event space, and lounge is located upstairs. The grocery store is neat and organized. Employees are all very friendly and helpful. Someone will direct you, when you are ready for check out. They also have a bunch of self-checkout machines. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this location. Perfect for those who live nearby or are already in the area. Overall, I'm glad we got a chance to visit. read more

Came here during phase two of Covid season in the morning to avoid any crowds. The parking garage had many spaces and it was easy to navigate with arrows pointing where to go. The store was maintained really well as it should be since it's brand new. The store was well organized and well stocked with a lot of items I needed. There were a few items that I couldn't find. The hot foods section and other options like fresh squeezed orange juice was not being used as to avoid contamination. There still seemed to be employees that were preparing food. If I could come again when it is safer, I would like to try the various food court items and drinks. There are self checkout lanes which is a first from a Whole Foods standpoint for me. Keep your parking ticket with you when you leave the car and present it to the cashier to have your parking validated up to the first 90 minutes. read more

Updating that this is one of the best Whole Foods that I've been to in terms of customer service and the wider, more open spaces. Just little gestures of kindness with the staff here. I looked lost today looking at the flavored water, and one of their tall, strong dudes asked if I need help. He actually could share information so I could make a decision. That's a rarity to find these days. LOLz. Then, when I was checking out, the lady (register 12) put my bags in my cart for me and asked if it was okay that they were heavy... she must have noticed behind the machine that I had a bandage because I just had book taken. I really appreciated the awareness and kindness. The bakery is probably my most frequented stop because I tend to buy the cakes for all celebrations. They are fresh here, and I prefer that they are not excessively sweet like Costco's or local bakery desserts. Chocolate cakes and Hazelnut cake are my go-tos, but lots of options. Also, the sourdough bread because I am not able to commit the time to making my own sourdough. If you have a dog or make broth, they are one of the few stores that has some frozen bone marrow. They have a bar and lots of seating upstairs (like a meeting space, too). I tend to go during the weekday so I've been lucky to avoid crowds, particularly with the pandemic still going on. But, it would probably be one of the few places that I'd feel comfortable taking off my mask because it's such a bigger store. *Yes, an annoying thing is the maze-like parking situation with really narrow entry and exits for the - which is the the architects/planners poor design. read more

I was impressed, though I don't think this lives up to the hype as a supermarket and would say it's more about the amenities as a food hall. The grocery options are what you expect from Whole Foods - lots of organics, plenty of locally sourced items, fancy packaged goods. There is a machine that lets you core your own pineapples, which looks awesome, and a fresh orange juice squeezing station. Huge body care and soap section. On the main level are a bunch of food options, and I can imagine this place being very popular for weekday lunch and happy hour. This includes a coffee bar, a fresh smoothie and juice bar, Italian food, and seafood (po boys, bisque, etc.). There is also a large prepared food section within the supermarket--not its own stall--which includes pizza, hot bar, tandoor ovens for Indian food, and a cheese station. You can also get fresh ravioli to go, which is cool. There is also an area to pour your own draft beer. I didn't check out upstairs, but I believe there is an arcade and more alcohol. I'm looking forward to checking it out soon. This branch of Whole Foods is convenient if you work in the Tysons Corner area. It has an urban vibe and feels more "vertical" than other Whole Foods stores because the main shopping area is on one level, while the parking garage is on a lower level. In addition, the store has an upper level lounge with a bar, large screen TVs, video games, and restrooms. You can also eat outside on the upper floor deck area if the weather is nice. On the plus side, the covered garage includes 90 minutes of free parking (with ticket validation if you buy something). It has a wide selection of drinks and prepared foods if you stop by to get items for a picnic or an individual "grab-n-go" meal. Also, if you have an electric vehicle, some garage parking spots have been reserved for electric vehicles close to the main entrance. On the minus side, the produce area is not as large/expansive as in other Whole Foods stores. Also, if the parking garage is busy, it can be a nightmare to exit the store due to vehicles waiting too long to make a left turn (it's a design flaw with a driver's visibility partially blocked on the left side due to on-street parking that makes it hard to tell if cars are coming down the hill from the left side). Finally, one minor pet peeve is the ice cream is placed in a hard to find location in the store! Garage parking for a grocery store is never my favorite, but WF makes it easy and streamlined, with the validation scanner accessible as you're getting ready to head back out and a nice display right on the garage level for you. There's plenty of space and the store is laid out in a relatively user-friendly way, although the produce section seemed a little smaller and less robust than what I'm used to from Whole Foods. I've been wanting to come here after hearing about the food y'all that was going to be here so we came early in a Sunday to try an avoid crowds. Getting in, the parking situation was pretty good with the underground garage and you can get your parking validated with a purchase for 90 minutes (I believe). Coming up the stairs, you can walk straight into the food hall. They have a self pour beer station, an oyster bar, a Curiosity Donuts, a Oficina, Genji Izakaya, and a Jrink. We decided to try Curiosity and Genji. There were so many types of donuts at Curiosity it was hard to choose but we got their meltaway and angel donuts and they were amazing! Definitely a reason to stop by alone. At the Izakaya we got two baos and the sushi taco trio which was pricey for the size but still pretty good. The store itself is very big and they have a pretty large hot/salad bar. There are a lot of self checkout kiosks so there's no waiting compared to the other WF's. I would recommend checking it out but just make sure to buy something so you can get validated. read more

There were so many different things to choose from but my favorite part was the skincare section because there were so many different balms, lotions, face care and shower goodies that would just elevate your bath to another level I wish I had the chance to pick something up! I stopped in for lunch and grabbed a bite to eat at the salad bar. It was around 130pm and there was only a little bit of lettuce mix left. It was a little sad. I did made it work with other items to get a healthy meal in after a hard workout. A few meats I added to my meal were unfortunately dried out. Boo! It's kind of surprising that Tysons didn't have a Whole Foods before this one as they're seemingly everywhere now. This is part of what looks like a new development off the Silver Line. This was a good-sized store, and there were a lot of fresh food options that might be decent but which I was not interested in. I actually wasn't blown away by the selection; there were some nice specialty items for sure, but nothing you couldn't get at MOM's. This was the first WF I can recall which had a self-checkout, which seems antithetical to what they do, but at least in theory keeps the line moving. In my case, however, the checkout had a hangup and my items were double scanned for some reason, and getting a person to help fix it took quite a while. As is often the case, self-checkouts still require human help. read more

This is the newest Whole Foods to open in Northern Virginia, located in Tyson's Corner. I went the second day they were open, so the place was jammed packed full of people. I will say they showed great initiative and planning, with people directing traffic in the parking garage (they validate) and lots of staff on hand directing the lines at checkout and just generally available to help and answer questions. It's a beautiful location offering all the usual specialized merchandise although with slightly less floor space so they really NEEDED all the extra staff. My primary reason for going to this particular Whole Foods (aside from the fact that it's new) is that it's one of the few places to find Curiosity Donuts and, being the donut addict I am, I NEEDED to try them! I will say they were very good donuts, but very expensive at $3 per donut so I only sampled 3 types. I liked them all just fine, the kids were not impressed however, and at $3 per donut I probably won't go out of my way to buy them again considering one was left to go stale. My favorite part of the new Whole Foods (being the overgrown child I am) was the Cart Escalator that carries your cart down to deliver it to you at the garage level! So fun! read more

It does have multiple levels (an upstairs with a bar, and a good court area) but I felt that in respect to actual groceries it was a little small. The selection did include many different items from local vendors which was nice, but also even the food bar selection wasn't that large! I work across the street so I frequent this Whole Foods a lot. The upstairs is awesome to grab a meal with a friend - there's a bar, lots of tables, a quiet room and arcade!! Pro tip - they have free sparking water next to the microwave! In the summer they have outdoor seating upstairs too. Also, they have dedicated compost bins for leftover food. Gender neutral bathrooms are awesome & inclusive. The store is two levels so if you have a mobility issue you'll have to ask about the elevator. All of the groceries are downstairs though & there are seating options downstairs. They have food vendor stalls that open at 11 AM - I love the ramen (can be to go). There are lots of samples throughout the store and friendly staff willing to give you a recommendation. My favorite part of Whole Foods is their iced lattes - they are excellent. They have a separate coffee bar at the front entrance for in & our service. You can't go wrong with a chocolate croissant either. Most random part of this Whole Foods is they have a pineapple shucking machine. It makes me want to buy a pineapple just to see it work. This Whole Foods is the biggest in the area by far. It also has a nice sized bar upstairs that offers beer, wine, and cocktails. The beer selection is large, and the beers change regularly. I also like that they offer growlers. I have not had food off of the hot bar, so I can not speak to that. I will say that we have been a few times and the service at the bar can be hit or miss. It is nice to be able to drink a beer while you shop though, can't complain about that. The curiosity donuts are a bit more than a typical donut- but they are worth it.
