After leaving one of the local running stores unsatisfied I decided to give REI a try. Was pleasantly surprised by their selection, a bit limited but had all the basics covered. Bought a pair a shoes and found they had their Patagonia gear on sale too so ended up getting some great Patagonia trail gear too that helped us stay warm on the unexpectedly cool summer morning runs which was in the 40Fs. Bring long sleeves and light weight running hoodies if running at dawn. I didn't expect much as much for service, especially after my last store experience, however everyone was pleasant, polite and helpful. I was so satisfied I purchased a membership as well.

I was happy that Big 5 carried kids (and adult) fishing gear during a recent visit, so I headed over to make a purchase. The staff was friendly and helpful enough, and everyone seemed to be abiding by Covid-19 precautions, which made me feel better about being out and about during a pandemic. Definitely not a luxury experience, but conveniently located, moderately priced, and carries pretty much everything you may want that is sports / outdoor-related.

My hubs has a condition that causes shakiness and instability. They were so cordial and acted like that was no big deal and were able to offer solutions for him to be able to do XC with me. Huge selection of everything you could possibly need or want for a day of snow fun. They do complete rentals and of course sales as well. Prices and policies were reasonable. It seemed like half the store was 40% off so we looked around then went to the shoe section. I found some full price Merrell shoes to try. The clerk was having a conversation with a customer about possible Grand Canyon hikes which was interesting....for the first 5 minutes. Made eye contact with the clerk but nothing, just kept talking about hikes and never about the shoes being tried on. Got up and looked for someone else to help but no one available after a lap of the store. Went back to the shoe department, the clerk was STILL talking about hikes and ignoring me standing there with the shoe. Put the shoe back on the shelf, we left and spent our money elsewhere. While we don't give off the hardcore "outdoors" vibe this store is definitely not as cool as they think they are. We were also ignored when first walking through the store while hearing another customer being offered help. Good thing there are a dozen other stores selling the same stuff within a square mile of old downtown. Maybe why so much of the merchandise was 40% off?

I really love Rae Dunn and I have no idea why, but I can find some great pieces here for super low prices! I've found some great baking pans and some casserole dishes the past few visits. Their selection of Christmas items right now is amazing. So many great items to find still days before Christmas. There is always a good selection of clothes, all sizes for all categories. There's a minimal selection of shoe sizes in all categories. There are so many hygiene products and beauty products, so it really is a great store with a lot of neat items. However, there is an issue that needs to be rectified soon. Over the purse area in the store, there's a bad roof leak that has gotten worse over the past few years. They will leave buckets where it leaks through. I worry one day the roof will collapse on customers.

We both found some great 2nd hand items and items that had been in the warehouse for some time. Great selections but the sale is totally deceiving. It knocks down items per date, but you have to look closely. Which was fine, we both liked our items but the gal who checked me out full price anyway.. $78 she gave me, she gave me 10% off but when we later looked at the tags, I should have only been charged $47!!! We already left town by then, but wonder how many others are buying full for "sale" items. Make sure to check your receipt!
