I walked into Lid's here in the Sherman Oaks Galería to purchase a Los Angeles Dodgers Championship Cap. I saw a friend there who was there to buy the same thing. I've made purchases from this store several times in the past. Today, I was appalled because as soon as I walked into the store the manager left the register as if he was going to offer assistance. Boy was I wrong. Not only did he NOT offer assistance, he walked outside, sat conspicuously in front of the store and stared me up and down as if I was planning to steal something. My friend wanted the cap so bad, I placed $42.00 on the counter and walked out. I wanted the cap as well but I refuse to patronize a business that treats Black customers like dirt. Went in on Black Friday where I was denied an online coupon but still made a purchase with no issue. After spending extra for embroidering I was then told I would be charged for a bend in the hat. Spoke with store manager who was rude and very dismissive when asking about a possible waive of that fee. Then was told wrong name Annabelle! upon asking for name. The customer service. I went into lids about three nights ago in Sherman Oaks fashion Square to buy a ball cap to work out in at the Gym. I was accompanied by my girlfriend, who politely asked a sales person if she had a certain size in a cap that we liked. This CSR was a short, stocky Asian woman , who blurted out NO!! in a curt, disrespectful manner, so I immediately moved away from her and started to search the store for another cap. She then had the audacity to watch me, giving anyone who was watching, the impression that I was casing the joint to steal something. Keep in mind. I am a senior citizen not a young boy , nor a thrill seeking teenager. This was the worst form of bigotry I have witnessed in quite a while, when shopping. Custom printing is also offered using high-tech machine that does everything instantly. Not to mention such good quality threads & patches they carry. You walk in you don't get any customer service assistance at all, You have young lazy girl's, unprofessional, untrained, and poorly managed, and how they are still in business its a mystery?? These female employees are so lazy, they dont want to talk about hat sizes, price, or anything, why are they there??? You can turn it into a whare house store with just a register!! Also caps are way over priced, their sales prices are what the caps should have sold for in the first place!! The old game game make the hat $45.00 high retail, and then mark it down to $30.00, some shoppers go for it!!! Their sale price is top retail and they only have a few caps marked down. I would not return return! Yelpers save yourself, time, and effort, and go to another store where you will be helped with the merchandise, and priced much lower!!! I've been a Lids customer since 2021 and have the hat collection and receipts to prove. I walked in last night at this location on 5/9/25 to celebrate 59 Fifty Day and also participate in the BOGO Half Off promotion by looking for blank New Era 59 Fifty fitted hats, which is my preferred style. I came in looking around like I usually do when I go into any Lids store for any hat that will catch my eye and saw a young CSR lady in my presence which I greeted. I do this at any store whenever I encounter CSR's, by saying, "Hi, how are you doing?" She responded by giving me a dirty look and walked away without response. I don't know this person or ever dealt with this person so I don't know why I received the dismissive response. I then proceeded to the blank hats section which is staged behind the embroidery machine and also behind the other CSR, another lady. So to be respectful of another human beings space I made eye contact and stated, "Hi, can I check out your blanks?" Which she replied, "Yes, what kind are you looking for?" She proceeded to step back to allow me to proceed and assisted with looking for my size and color. I noticed one of the hats had the wrong size gold foil round sticker on the top visor which did not correspond with the store barcode label on the bottom of the visor. I end up not getting that style since I also noticed defects on a duplicate one but with correct labels. The CSR then walked away which I prefer since I'd rather shop in peace and on my own time without feeling like I'm being rushed or need their help. Since I am familiar with grabbing the whole stack and flipping them over to look at the store barcode label on the under visor. I realized after years of purchasing hats that I do have to inspect for the supposed right size by looking inside on the tag attached to the band to verify. I'd rather look for a hat myself since CSR's seem to get irritated when small things like that happen. My statement to you two so-called CSR's, if you don't like to deal with people or loyal customers like myself, maybe quit or find another profession? If I'm paying for something I'm going to make sure it's what I want and meets my standards since I'm also familiar with the brand, I know what to look for. This eliminates the need for me to go out of my way to return an item which I did at the CityWalk location since they also mislabeled a hat (fitted size) purchased last year. I don't care if the CSR's I've dealt with last night are offended by my review because the manager can review security footage if they want proof and really care about customers and their business. Without customers, there will be no need for employees or a store for that matter. I end up purchasing two (2) hats by first waiting for the customer ahead of me by standing a few feet behind her, to indicate I'm ready to purchase. The two (2) CSR's were standing side-by-side behind the island and when it was my turn, the young lady who ignored me walked off to "adjust" an already straight stack of hats to the side. She has no interest in helping customers but I bet she is interested in a paycheck for doing half the work, if any. With my experience with Lids stores, I know the employees are equipped with at least two (2) handheld devices to process purchases. I even made purchases in the past in random areas of the store at another location. Lids staff like this make me rather just order online but I like to see items in store although I have to encounter rude employees. But I guess I won't let bad apples deter me. I'm not sure if they rather have customers not bother them or be treated with the same unprofessional and unfriendly attitude. Makes me wonder. I don't ever do reviews here but this encounter compelled me to do so and I'm afraid of any retaliation for doing this review. I was there On Friday 4/22 at around 5:30pm with my boyfriend cause he wanted a personalized hat and the guy "helping" us was extremely rude and had a really bad attitude. We felt like we were bothering him and all we wanted was to buy a hat. I understand if he was having a bad day but his attitude made your business lose a sale. If I could give a lesser score I would the employee there stereotyped me and my son by the way we were dressed he saw my son trying a hat on and as he saw us move to another section of the store the employee stood in front of the door as if we were going to run out with ONE hat. When I confronted the manager he said they do it all the time so this is what this company is about stereotyping people by how they dress? I bought the hat just cuz my son really wanted the hat and to show him that I have the money for it if he would only know that with what I do on the side I could pay for his salary and both his employees on the floor. Best customer service ever! Johnny was super informative on the varieties of hats they provide and helped me pick out the right style for me and the company. Once we saw how good the first one came out, the rest of the team couldn't wait to get their own. The digitizing process of our logo did not take too long at all and in fact, Johnny had my hat ready earlier than expected. He found the proper thread color for our logo and a month later the hat still looks as good as the day I purchased it. I bought a dozen for the company and was told if we ever needed another one, Lids would be able to send the digitized copy to any other Lids store, which is great because we have technicians everywhere. If going to this Lids location, avoid Jay S. at all costs. Asked him for his last name to call Lids corporate but he said Jay is all I need to know. Well supposedly he is the assistant manager there. I thought you had to have people skills and be extra nice to be some sort of manager. This review is only on Jay. A girl worker there and some other guy are extra nice and helpful. Forgot their names but they know who they are. Ok. So I order most of my hats on their website and I pick them up at this location since it's kinda close to my job. So one hat I got fit extra tight. Got the same size as all my other hats but I'm guessing the type of material was the reason why. So I tried to change to a different size or a different team but still the same type of hat and same price. But since I'm a Lids club member got 20% off and had a 10 dollar off code since I buy many, many hats. The hat price was 36.00 and I only paid like 21 dollars. So Jay said he can exchange the hat but the new hat I get has to be 21 dollars or pay the difference if it retails for more than 21 dollars. I told him why can't I just get another hat that retails for the same 36.00 and even exchange? I guess this was difficult for his little brain to process and therefore just left. Fast forward 2 weeks later to pick up more hats I ordered online and another guy that helped told me I could exchange the hat no problem. That Jay doesn't know what he is doing. But that time I didn't have the hat I wanted to exchange with me but he assured me that they can exchange no problem. So fast forward to today where I picked up 4 more hats I bought and Big Bad Ass Jay was there. Told him that another one of his workers said I can exchange but once again, he said he could but I have to get a 21 dollar hat or pay the difference. I came in to buy a laker Hat and get it embroidered with the Kobe 24 wings. I was more than willing to wait I understood how busy they are. Everyone that I know who bought and got the work done at a lids location got laker colors, this location for some reason is only doing black and white claiming that the Bryant family only wanted to do the logos in black and white. He also stated that any other lids location doing laker colors is "cheating the system". It seem like Sherman oaks lids is the only one "Cheating the system" by making it easier themselves with a 2 color scheme not related to the lakers. Everyone at this location is ASSS. I bought a hat for my Nephew and decided to put his name on it. The rude girl at the front with her mask down to her chin, which was "training" the only nice girl there, took my number down & Let me know my hat would be done in 20 mins & that she would call me when it's done. I continued my Xmas shopping and came back about 40 mins later to ask about the hat. I walk in and there is one associate helping the customers & the other three are giggling in the corner by the custom section. I am reviewing the Online store only, not the actual mall store but this company is Shady. This online order was not ready when I went to the store for the promised in-store pickup and I was told it would take weeks to complete. I found no indication when I ordered it about when it would be done. I needed this item so I paid for one at the store which was made on the spot. I have spoken to the cust svc dept and they refused my request for a refund saying that the item was already "in process". I emailed to cancel my order within 3 hours of ordering and they didnt get back to me for 5 days then said it was "just finishing up". clearly a lie because it only takes about 20 minutes to produce the item. this is the verbatim response from the svc person: "When an order is placed, we process it quickly as we can in order for it to be created and shipped out as soon as possible. I do see that this order was processed within the first hour of order placement. It is wrapping up production at this time. We cannot cancel orders after they have been processed." "...at this time.." is now 7 days after i tried to cancel the order, to make an item that takes 20 minutes in the store. "....Shipped as soon as possible..." is where they allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. And insist that they are within the time frame and so don't owe me a refund. Basically they just don't want to make a refund. there is no reasonable reason they shouldn't but they obviously prefer to lose a customer and many others. read more

It's a nice store, and some of its inventory is unique-- it opened my eyes to new things. However, I've never met a serial killer, but I would bet a huge sum that he has better people skills than the average Lids employee. At the moment, I'm cursed with doing Lyft driving fulltime. Totally incompetent workers. But that's typical Lids. Went there twice to get a logo on a hat. First they said they could do it. Second time I brought my stuff and both had terrible attitudes about it with the guy saying my USB wouldn't fit in the their computer. He actually tried to connect my USB with one of his! I told him it'd fit in the computer. He said it wouldn't as he tried and, wouldn't you know it, it fit. A bunch of folders came up that weren't mine since I only have the design in that thing. Obviously another folder from their computer and that was it for him. "No" was this guy's favorite word. Also, he'd click on the folder ONCE and would say, "No, man. Nothing comes up." DOUBLE CLICK the d*mn folder to see what's in it! I had to tell him to check even though they weren't my folders! Bad attitude. Bad service. But again, that's Lids. read more

I went to the store for the first time and saw that they made custom hats, I wanted to get a phrase done but they told me they won't do it because it had the word "fuck" in it. That didn't make sense to me because I was buying that hat for myself, not to put on the shelf to sell to others. I came here a few of months ago during the holidays to purchase some gifts for myself and for family members. When I went to the store, I received pretty great service. It was a laid back & friendly atmosphere. I was helped by a gentlemen named Roosevelt who was every nice and helpful. He was patient with me as I was unsure what to buy at first.
