I never asked for a restoration job we discussed you installing a motor and a gas tank which I would supply, you call that a restoration job wow by the I drove the car for 1hr and it stopped because you guys didn't tighten the distributor down while I was driving it was walking and it is dripping oil from the oil filter.Your shop doesn't do restoration and if you call what you did for me a restoration than I can ask why does my car look just like it did when I dropped it off.The only thing that is different form the day I dropped it off is now it runs now I towed it in and I had to tow it out,you call that a restoration no bodywork no interior no paint job.I bought you a rebuilt engine to install with my radiator and gas tank and you removed my brake booster and installed a new one which I also supplied that is not a restoration in the automotive industry. read more

UPDATE, 7/20/24: So a couple of weeks ago my Jeep's gas gauge was showing it was using gas to the extent that I could actually see the needle going down to empty while I was driving! I checked with my local garage and he didn't know what could cause that but could check it out. I really wanted at least an educated guess! I remembered my smog test visit to Liebsack & Son and I called Steve. He told me what he thought could be happening so that's where I took my car! In one day it was ready (Steve knew what he was talking about!), something about a gas gauge and leaking gas hose. They even went the extra mile to air out the engine to help rid the gasoline smell from the leak. Top quality service, nice people and most importantly, Steve seems to know his stuff. And this being my 2nd visit with good results & service, I'm sold. And I love supporting local family businesses. read more

After having a negative experience trying to get a smog on my RV, I brought it to Liebsack & Son Auto Service and they quickly diagnosed the problem, provided an estimate, repaired and did the smog inspection. The went above and beyond to help. My RV needed to be driven for about 50 miles before the smog could be done, they offered to come in early and put miles on the RV for me by taking it on the freeway. I put the miles on the RV myself, however, I thought the offer showed that they really wanted to provide great service, and they did! read more

I pulled in to this mechanic to have him look and perhaps repair or replace some things on my 2011 toyota avalon. I had a concern about my master cylinder (my brake pedal is low) and to replace a serpentine belt. When I met Steve he was very personable , professional and engaging. We discussed the afore mentioned concerns I had about my car. He was real charming and knowledgeable and spoke well about what he would and wouldn't do and how he does this and does that. I was impressed. We discussed replacing the belt and a master brake cylinder( if needed) I thought great. He made me a reservation to bring it back in on another day. I brought the car back the day we agreed and he acted like he'd never seen or spoken with me before! His whole demeanor was bad. He looked in his book and saw that I did indeed have an appointment. But he remained real short and tart no eye contact total opposite than before. I thought this is not cool but maybe he's having a bad day. Needless to say it didn't set well with me. I left the car and a while later he called and told me my estimate was $6000.00 !!!! He told me I had a power steering leak and he wanted to replace the "assembly" etc. He then went on to talk about motor mounts bushings etc (most things you can't see to know if they need replacing or not.) Almost all of the items he discussed were things we did not discuss. Seems like he tried to gouge me. He said oh I looked at your brakes and you needed brakes we never talked about brakes. I had the belt changed and had the back brakes done. Came out to $722 for only these two things ( labor intensive ok no problem ) I gave him the ok and paid for it. Then he called at 4:30 PM I had taken the car in that morn around at 10 or 11am. He called me at 4:30 pm and said the car was ready. I asked what time he closed and he said 5:00. I'm thinking why would u call me with only a 30 minute window to come and get my car ? It felt like a lot of pressure to hurry and get there... not cool. I asked for my old parts and he provided them no problem. When I looked at the belt he replaced and it looked no worse for wear. When I asked him about it, he started with some mechanic talk but it was clear the belt was in good condition. On the phone he said he would bleed my brakes. I got in the car and pushed my brake pedal (when you've had your brakes bled you can immediately tell if the have been bled.) I could tell this was not the case, He then began to talk to me like I don't know anything and said "oh its like that when your sitting still" and some other mumbo jumbo mechanic talk. It was then I knew this guy is a liar and a double talker. Over charges for his services and then cuts corners He tries to gouge you and then talk to you like the customer must be dumb as hell. Needless to say I will never go here again and definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I used to take my car the THEE Honda guy over on Artesia. When he retired, he sold his book of business to Steve and George at Liebsack. Because I had trusted my mechanic so much, I trusted that he would not have given his book of business to any schmucks so I blindly trusted them. For the first few years, Steve, George and I had a lovely relationship. I really trusted and relied on them. Yes, things were pricey to get fixed here, but not anything more than I had experienced before. All in all, in four years, I probably spent over $3000 here, on a new timing belt, new this, new that, as my car aged. Liebsack was the ONLY place I took my good old Honda to. The check engine light had a bad habit of coming on and off all the time and at one point about a year and half ago, I had had a $75 diagnostic done but as luck would have it, the light went off right after that....so nothing was fixed. As things change in life, it was time to sell my old Honda, and get a new Honda, which OF COURSE, I would be bringing to Liebsack for service. I was buying a used Honda after all, so it wasn't going to have a warranty. Wouldn't you know it, right as I was getting ready to sell my old Honda, the check engine light came on. Now, as you may know, that is an AUTOMATIC fail at a smog check and if she doesn't pass smog, she isn't sold, according to our great state of California. I had already bought my new Honda outright in cash, so of course, the less money I could spend on my old car, the better. I called over to Liebsack to find out if they could do another diagnostic on the old gal, just to see if it was an easy fix or something expensive that would guide me to donating her to charity. Neither George nor Steve were willing to budge on charging me again for the $75 diagnostic. Now, I was just trying to offload this car, and I had already paid for a $75 diagnostic once before, on top of the thousands I had spent there in the past...and in addition to most likely being a customer for life with the new car and the one after that... I know they have a business to run, and perhaps they won't care, but that day, they lost a paying, life long customer to $75. I will not be returning again. read more

On 10/21/2014 my alternator died, from previous vehicles I already knew, between not being able to go to work, and having my ex husband coming home to help me, he realized that he went to school with Steve, that was a big mistake, because the way he did me wrong after he received my car made me believe that they were enemies from High school; anyway, when talking to him I asked him how much will it cost me and in the conversation I mentioned that my kids go to Private school so I am on a budget, at some point of the conversation he could have mentioned that there was $75 diagnostic fee which is fair, if you would have told me during the conversation I would have not wasted my time for I am broke, and trying to save. Today Steve called me to inform me that the whole job will be $420.00, are you kidding me, I asked about a rebuilt alternator and he said he does not do that, just new parts, yeahh... No Bueno so I let my old man know and he said hell no get the car towed and send it to Gardena Battery where they Quoted him $160-$180 for everything and by chance my ex husband knew them too but there actually friends lol. When I called Steve to have car towed to Gardena Battery he told me that," he can not release your car until you pay for my time, I don't work for free', I understand but if I would have known about the Diagnostic cost my car would have never seen you. FYI Looking at previous complaints I realized that only the men like him.. Your a Douche and did me wrong, what goes around comes around. read more

I also used to go to the Honda guy on artesia (classic auto) and he retired and sold his book to Liebsack so I trusted my old mechanic. I didn't know the new guy would rip you off so much. I personally will not go back here again. OR WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. At first I had a good experience but as I started to go here I noticed they started marking up 100 percent on parts and their labor was twice as expensive as other shops. I needed to get a speed sensor fixed and they quoted me $450. the part costs $100 and labor should be at most $100. It should have not been more than $200. I understand that they are a business and they need to make a profit but to gouge a customer that much is not good business. Most shops I know and the owners have told me, the parts they get whole sale but mark up to a retail price like if you went to pep boys or autozone. You wouldn't mark them up 100 percent over retail. It;s not like I can't call a Honda dealer for a quote on a part which I did and thats how discovered he was ripping me off. They charge $50 for a plain regular oil change not synthetic or royal purple but plain 10w 30 or 10w 40 where as everywhere else charges $25. So you tell me how much better can a oil change get for 100% more than most places? More than a dealer would charge. Sometimes you have to pay more to get the best but there's a difference between pricey and just plain rip off. Over 10 years as a customer, and I'm still confident with the quality of their service. Classic Father & Son (& Son) Auto Repair Garage. It is obvious that George & Steve have always been into engines of all kinds, as they both have huge insight. Super nice & friendly guys, and competent. Very highly skilled. They are definitely not the cheapest, but they are earnest, smart, skilled, stand behind their work, and you won't have to get the same problem fixed over & over. When they fix something it stays fixed! Typically they get the job done the same day or next day. It is important to note that I used to hate all car mechanics because it seemed like either me or my car was always getting screwed. Since discovering Liebsack & Son, I don't feel like that anymore. They are good, and it is totally worth it to have them fix something so I don't have to worry about it. It is pretty common for any garage to mark up their parts, and add a fee because it took time to figure out what the right part is, and to get it. When I've been tight on cash, I have brought them the parts so I could save a little money that way. If you can get Steve Liebsack to work on your car personally I can practically guarantee it will be perfect. It is always great when things go well, but it's when there is a problem that you really learn more about the character of who you are dealing with. I did have one problem with a repair that broke down the next day (Friday night as I was leaving to go camping), so I had my Jeep towed to Liebsack's that night. They are closed on Saturday & Sunday. But Saturday morning, I got a call from Steve saying he saw my Jeep at his garage, what happened? And he actually came to my house (like right away too) to pick up the keys so he could take a look at it on his day off!!! I didn't even call him at all. The bottom line was that they totally took care of the repair, and the extra damage involved, and didn't charge me one penny. You couldn't ask for more from another human being. They did the absolute best that anyone could do. So, yeah, I'm a fan. They are good guys. 5 stars. read more

I couldn't let that go without my two cents! I have been using them for 10 years and they fix it right...first time...They also use quality parts...My old mechanic was cheaper for brakes but I was blowing through brakes like no tomorrow...I started using these guys and my brakes were lasting forever!
