They told her it needed a "engine timing cover reseal" and of course it's not covered under warranty anymore (and wanted to charge thousands of dollars to get it done). My car broke down right when I got to work - it would not start / or rough start - An error code P0335 (Crankshaft Position Sensor) was displayed on my OBD-II reader. I did my usual Amazon and YouTube search think I wanted to fix it myself. The more I read of possible repairs the more I started to look for a near auto repair place. I found a few nearby and also consulted my coworker if he knew of a place nearby that he could recommend. Right away my co-worker T** suggested this place named C's Auto Repair. I have never heard of this place, but I trusted my buddy and stopped my searching online. I spoke to Saloum and explained my situation and that I would like to have my car towed to his location in Lawndale. He said no problem. After the car was dropped off - they inspected and called me to explain and invited me over to show me their finding. I told them I would come over to see their finding and explained to him at least in my opinion when someone recommends you, they are doing this for a good honest reason and trust is part of it, but I still went to see for myself since he recommended, and I was nearby. I truly felt that they were really transparent about the findings and the estimate price he told me. It was also brought to my attention of things I have possibly overlooked like fluid levels, worn belt, low oil, oil leaks, and warning lights. But from now on I will pay more attention to these. The problem turned out to be not as serious as it could have been if I have kept trying to start and driving my car and not have it towed to C's Auto Repair. My car was done the next day and even feels a bit faster, lol. The cost turned to be as it was estimated. Decided late afternoon to drop one of our cars off for an oil change and a headlight bulb replacement. Our regular place was super busy (for the last couple days) so I suggested we try C's because of the high ratings. So happy with our choice because not only was C's available for the oil change and replacement, even in the late afternoon they happily took on the work and promised we would have the car back by end of business. We were fully prepared to leave it overnight...how awesome is it that we didn't have to? Reasonably priced, friendly and super speedy. Easy in and out. Don't go to this shop!!! Save yourself some big headaches!!! Not very professional at all. Left my car at the shop at 8:30 in the morning, called them at 3:30 to see if there is any update on the car. He said that his Dad is test driving the car and that's it! No more updates and they didn't inform us that they will keep the car. We drove by the shop at 6:00pm and they are already closed! They called the next morning and told me that they couldn't figure out what is wrong with the car. I told him that why he didn't call us that they were keeping the car and accused me of keeping on calling them about updates! So we just picked up the car!!! Please don't trust them and they are lack of communication. They just lost a loyal customer. How loyal we are: my wife called them one time the bill was for $160 and they only charged us $60. I have a 2010 Camry. My car wouldn't start and I needed to tow it to a garage. My mechanic was closed for the holidays so I found C's Auto on Yelp with their good ratings and decided to try them. When I called, the young man who answered the phone was very polite and friendly. I liked his vibe. I ended up getting a jump start was able to drive my car in and drop it off. Long-short, after they tested my battery and changed the positive terminal on it which had corroded and had battery acid around it (the battery was 2.5 years old), it was my alternator. However what I appreciated was their thoroughness in explaining the situation to me, their process for procuring the parts and why, and how much things would cost. I really like that. I also like that their garage office is clean :). It's a lovely family business with pictures of his kids' high school graduation photos on the wall. The young man and his dad were very nice. I would highly recommend C's to anyone needing car repair. They're fair and trustworthy and give great service! read more

I have been coming to this place for about two and a half years. They are very kind people, but I think that it used toward their advantage. I had taken my Jeep there for quite some time and in multiple instances for oil changes and check ups I specifically let them know I'd be going on a road trip so please check fluids and obviously change the oil. The two most recent times, only the oil was changed. Even before leaving I clearly remember asking, "did he top off the coolant and check other fluids?" And the response "yes all good my friend". My Jeep ended up almost over heating because it was completely dry. Now it's not hard to put coolant so I did it myself (even though that's why I paid them). The last straw was when my Jeep started making a ticking noise in the motor. This noise is pretty common in keeps (JKs) but all you need to do is replace the rockers and whatever cam shaft was getting wore out. Both of the mechanics literally try to explain to me that the sounds was completely normal and doesn't effect anything. Apparently it's just "noise", then recommended they can add some liquid stuff to suppress the noise but that's all that can be done. At that point I knew I should probably not go there anymore if all they can do is change oil. I went to a different mechanic and both my cams were out so I couldn't get to 5th gear. But hey! That's completely normal right? I don't mean to sound disrespectful but they watch YouTube videos on how to make the repairs and seem to not be too knowledgeable on what mechanics should clearly have knowledge of since this is of course their profession right? read more

I highly recommend C's Auto Repair. Each time I have brought my car in, they have worked it promptly, communicated well, and charged fairly. Here, my old Toyota Camry has gotten oil changes, tire rotations, spark plug replacements, brake pad changes, fluid replacements, and repair quotes. I have worked with Saloum the most, and when I brought it in yesterday morning for a power steering issue, he was nice enough to investigate my issue and give me quotes for a few repair options that day without charging any labor. While running errands, my Check Engine light, as well as two other lights, came on on my dashboard as I was approaching a stoplight. As I applied the brakes, the engine died. Fortunately, I was able to re-start my vehicle. But as I attempted to drive home (it was a Sunday), the engine kept dying at random times. At one point, I was stalled for almost ten minutes before the car would start again. Monday morning I called C's after seeing their reviews on Yelp. They told me to try to get my car to the shop and they would do a free diagnostic on my Check Engine and the other lights on my dash. After running the check, they said if I brought it in the next morning, they would have it fixed the same day. I then asked about the cost. Being a disabled Veteran, I live on a fixed income. Thinking he was going to quote me thousands of $$$'s, which I didn't have, I was ecstatic when he said it would only cost me $320! That price included all fees and taxes as well! He even gave me a generous discount off of that price for being a Veteran. I can't say enough good things about C's. Not only are their prices great, they do great work, are very honest and up front with everything and they all have a great sense of humor as well. My car's engine was rumbling/vibrating too much, and there was some engine oil leaking from it as well. When I brought my car into their shop, they found out was was wrong: faulty coil in one of the sparkplug and a worn washer that caused the leakage. They were very thorough and explained to me the problem and did a really good job replacing the plug and power washed and torqued the nut to help with a more secure seal. I am still monitoring any engine oil leaks, but the vibration had stopped. I really like Cs auto shop - they're honest and provide you with fair pricing. read more

Took my car and the mother's in for a basic oil change. Saloum was thorough even in just explaining the oil options. Despite the cars already there and the few that came in right after me, my car was done in under an hour. My mom's took a little a bit longer because her battery needed a charge(she needed a jump to even go get the oil change) and they didn't have the correct filter in stock. But they kept me updated every step of the way. From when the battery charge was done, to when they picked up the filter, to letting me know it was ready for pickup. Cal is the best mechanic I have ever encountered: honest, upfront, and meticulous inspections and repairs. I have been taking my car here for two years, and Cal and his son Saloum have always treated me respect and integrity. They really know cars, and they take the time to explain and even show me why my car needs repairs when it does. For instance, when Cal checked my filters, he showed me that the air filter for my engine was clean. However, my cabin filter was very dirty. Same deal with my struts: they showed me how bad they were leaking so I felt confident about getting them replaced. How many mechanics take the time to actually deliver this level of support to customers? I've actually learned a lot about cars thanks to them. Cal jokes that people ask him why he is so poor as a mechanic. He could be a millionaire recommending all the unneeded repairs that so many other mechanics do. I think his level of integrity builds a fiercely loyal customer base. I have moved about 10 miles further from them, which in LA traffic can take an hour. This is the only mechanic/repair shop I will ever go to. So many great things about it, like the fact that they are a family owned and operated business in the South Bay. Also, Cal and Saloum were so honest, helpful and informative about the things my car needed. Also, given the fact that most women do not know much about cars, many places take advantage of this. But with Cal and Saloum and their attention to detail and explanation to me about what was going on, proved that they were different. I had such a wonderful experience: My car was stalling with a weird screeching noise, so I called C's Auto Repair because I read all the great reviews on here. Saloum, the son, answered the phone and was extremely helpful. He told me to bring in my car ASAP or early the next morning and that his dad, Cal, will look it and diagnose it for free. I dropped it off the next morning and within a few hours Saloum called me explained what the problem was. He also gave me an estimate for the solution. I told him that I would like to go ahead and fix it. He was so polite and nice as he explained to me that he'll put in the order for the parts right away, but it was not guaranteed they will come in that day. He suggested I leave my car overnight, which was totally fine with me. The next day at around lunch time, Saloum calls to tell me my car is ready. I asked if I could pick it up after I get off work at around 5:30 - 6. He told me it was no problem and that even though they close at 6 they'll stay a little later to make sure I get my car. So after work I went to pick up my car and Cal showed me everything he replaced and explained the functionality of the parts. He did everything in his power to make sure I understood what happened, why it happened and what he did to fix it. He also told me that my tires are getting worn out and even though they are okay for now, depending on how much I drive I will need new ones soon. Saloum offered to take down the size and when I was ready I could give them a call and they can order the tires, install them as well as do an alignment. I've been going to cal and saloum for awhile now. They helped me fix my gas tank that had been drilled and fixed my starter. I recently took my stepdads Nissan Altima to C's, I had taken it to the dealership and they had given him a bill for about $1800 full of replacement parts and new tires without legitimately taking a look at the car. I felt funny about the price since then hadn't put it on the lift or anything so I decided to take it to cal and see what was really up. Cal got me in and out in one day, they test drove it, lifted it up on and looked at everything. They found a couple small issues, but nothing coming CLOSE to $1800. It's a legit peace of mind knowing I can come to cal and saloum and not have to worry about being ripped off or taken advantage of. I will only bring my vehicles here.
