Accessibility: getting into the store is all flat ground. The door to enter is a single pull door. Experience: the sculptures here are absolutely beautiful! My favorite are the ones of women because they are portrayed out-of-this-world beautifully. There is one that is two faces of girls or women (near the front of the building) that I really love and connected to the most because it looked like my sister and me. I have attended the Lynn Forbes School of Sculpture for almost 3 years. Sculpting has improved my life in many ways. For me sculpting is fun and entertaining, but when I am creating something from the clay it clears my head, it makes me feel calmer and more relaxed. This visual creative expression engages your creative mind allowing you to use your imagination to contemplate a series of possibilities, make a series of decisions, then figure out what it means. Initially I learned from the owner of the studio Lynn and now from the current owner Dana. I really appreciate the ability to work on my own but if I have questions, help is right there. Dana is very patient with children and able to ensure the students get the most from their time. I have observed both small children and older people enjoy sculpting and am always amazed at some of the talent that people exhibit. They come in and say they have no experience or talent, but with the help of some instruction, it is amazing what anyone can do. There are classes everyday except Sundays which conveniently allows you to pick a time which best suits your schedule. I highly recommend to people to at least try this, either for yourself or for a gift. I gave my daughter 10 lessons for Christmas and for her, that was the best gift I could have given. read more

This studio is amazing! I just made a portrait of my deceased grandmother from a collection of pictures. I can't wait to give it to my grandfather for his birthday! If I can do it, anyone can. You won't believe what you can create with Dana's guidance! I walked into this studio with zero sculpture experience and no artistic talent (I can't draw and only paint my own fingernails). I was given individual instruction, my own model to copy from, and a block of clay. Two hours later, I was well on my way to a completed portrait. Now, two years later, I can't imagine a life without sculpting in it. This studio is a wonderful space to create and I discovered that sculpture is a highly gratifying and enjoyable activity! The atmosphere of the school is calm and welcoming and so many beautiful sculptures catch your eye as soon as you walk in. They were great examples for ideas of what to sculpt, even for beginners. The owner, Dana, is great at teaching technique and offering useful guidance and I found her to be really helpful for my first time attempting sculpture. I like that classes are offered on the weekend and at convenient times. The school is also surrounded by a great little shopping center with several cute little shops and restaurants, and a place for the kids to run around! Would highly recommend! read more

This is a lovely studio located in a small community shopping area, so you can enjoy sculpting, have a coffee and lunch or shop too! I got to sculpt and sip on my coffee as I worked on my bird sculpture. It's a beautiful place with some very interesting sculptures other students are working on or have finished. The vibe is very friendly, so people like me who have no artistic ability can feel comfortable. There is just enough freedom to do your own thing, but still have someone close to ask questions or make suggestions. In other words, its a fun and freeing atmosphere to give it a try if you've never done it or develop your skills if you have. I highly recommend it either way! read more

Happened on this shop while looking for the COAL gallery. If you are looking to commission a portrait sculpture this would be a good place to start. Additionally they have two sessions a day where you can drop in and create your own sculpture. They offer support and guidance as needed. They will work with youth or adults. You may buy an individual session and clay or buy multiple sessions. The more sessions you buy the lower the cost. They have room for several people to work at the same time but I saw two to four people the couple of times that I stopped to check it out. They can offer firing in their kiln after your piece is finished, dried and hollowed out. So make sure to allow time for that if you are not local. I saw lots of interesting pieces in process and a good selection of finished pieces. They also schedule models for some sessions if you want practice with a live model. I will definitely try to schedule time if I get back to the area in the next couple of years. read more

I am currently waiting for a refund from Dana McCullough (the owner of the studio) and I do not recommend this class. Dana belittled me and another male in the class first asking one of the male students if they were gay and a couple weeks later asking me "so, is it that you don't like women?", in response to me asking for help. She uses tactics like this, unfortunately, to control her class. One day when I was asking one of the other students a question about their sculpture she yelled at me because she felt I was teaching, when we were just conversing. Being a life-long artist, I have attended many art classes, but I never have seen people treated this way. The other gentleman in the class found himself defending himself which is very unfortunate this day and age. After she asked me if I don't like women, I immediately asked her if she likes men which enraged her to the point where she began screaming at me. She then threatened to call the police when I tried to take my sculpture with me. Since then she has allowed me to come back and take my art. I am going to finish up my sculptures at The Green Art House as it seems very friendly and professional. read more

A word of advice to avoid an accident : Ask for safety glasses when it's time to cleaning the uneven particles from sculptures before painting.... A piece of harden clay flew to my daughter's eye and scratched inside her eye. She was in pain for few days and I had to take her to doctor. Lynn did not care to warn her first nor took care of her till I get to studio to pick her up. She played it down and said "it happened to herself few times and it's not a big deal"!!! "SAFETY" should be the first concern specially for Minors! Few pairs of Safety Glasses can help others in the future. read more

My wife and I took about 10 classes here. The studio is in a very nice little area near the ocean. Lynn is super friendly, patient, and offers a lot of help but the class is more like an open studio rather than a structured class - which is fine. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the ocean, getting coffee upstairs, and listening to Mozart and Vivaldi while trying to sculpt. I'd definitely go there again. read more

As a frequent visitor to the area, I took about five sessions at Lynn's studio. It was so wonderful! She is a great teacher... friendly, calm, helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. She has a great rule that nobody gets to critique another person's work. As a beginner, I really appreciated that rule..
