Overcooked lions mane "catfish-like" nuggets. Ordered via Uber Eats
    Chantrice C.

Ok so, this was my final try of Life Bistro. My very first time was in person about two years ago around brunch time. It was only two of us--long story short we wind up not even eating because after sitting there waiting for our food (or so we thought) for over 30 mins and seeing people who came after us get theirs, we were like wtf. When we asked and got to the bottom of it, turns out our order was misplaced so the kitchen never got the ticket. I recall the waitress being new but still. We left because we had other plans and couldnt keep waiting atp. Fast forward to last year--I decided to order on Uber Eats. I got the po boy and an order of fried pickles. The po boy was just okay with some of the mushrooms over cooked but no biggie. Just removed those...the fried pickles were terrible. The pickles were over cooked and extra greasy. It was a while before I ordered again. Tried months later and ordered the "shrimp" and it was just okay but not really something I'd order again. I'd been hesitant to order again because of those prior experiences but this time I had an uber eats discount and wanted something vegan so I was like let me try them again--esp since this time its the middle of the day on a Thursday so the food may be better vs those previous times ordering were nights. Well needless to say--this is the last time I will order from there and have no plans to ever go again in person. I ordered the lions mane "catfish" nuggets that were supposed to come with hush puppies but no hush puppies were in the order but they gave me fries which wasnt listed as part of this meal--so I'm guessing that was the substitute for the hushpuppies. Anyway, the lions man nuggets were TERRIBLE! Majority of them were overcooked and inedible. After digging around and having to break all of them open after biting into the first one that was cooked to a crisp on inside--the ones that I could eat were heavily (or better yet overly) seasoned and greasy. The fries were good but i didnt even order fries. I wanted Life Bistro to be good because it is Black owned and I try to support my people but chile, this one has disappointed one too many times. I was looking forward to the lions mane--and as much it costs to buy those mushrooms, they really overcooked em? I wonder if they just didnt care since I used an uber discount. Lol. I'm laughing but also not happy about still having to get more food now bc of this mess they sent me.

Ordered to-go, from inside the restaurant and was greeted by a friendly worker. The menu is extensive so it took me a while to review it. The menu is only on one kiosk or online. I ordered the Lobster Bisque appetizer and it was bomb. Not one note for improvement. A+ The Portobello Rasta Pasta needed more salt and more mushrooms. B The Kale Wrap was a huge miss. It was small and bland. D I would most definitely eat here again, but I would order in advance. The wait time is a little extreme.

I drove 30 min to a spot called Life Bistro to get a veggie plate that includes mashed red potatoes, collards, and creole Mac & cheese... The plate cost $18. Mind you i had to pay an extra $2.00 for the non cheese having Mac and cheese that is more Caucasian than creole. None of the veggies were seasoned. The only thing you can taste is the smoke on the collard greens. The portions were extra small. They smoothed it out to make it look bigger than it was. I also ordered portobello fingers with buffalo sauce and the portion was insane. If the buffalo sauce didn't come with it- i don't even know if i would have been able to eat it. That cost $15. You can't get that in a meal btw. Bad experience. Wouldn't recommend. $38.15 down the drain and i will definitely not return or recommend to a mf friend. Even with having the money to pay for it, like i said bad experience and I'm pissed!

Titi, our server was great!!! Broke down that menu something serious. I would love to go back when there is live entertainment. So here's the critical stuff: fresh juices. Like they have a serious industrial juicer/extractor behind the counter. All of the food is vegan and plant based options. Yes, there's levels. I would suggest go with an appetite. The menu is mouth watering. Focus on how much on how much you're ordering. It adds up really quick and yes gratuity is included. Decor is comfy. My only speculation and I hate to add this. But I have to. They market as Atlanta's only elevated vegan restaurant. Eh!!! Now the food is great, flavorful and plentiful. Go with someone. I'll be back!!!

Service was top tier. Ski made sure that we felt welcomed and appreciated even when I didn't like my entree. The appetizers had me excited for the main course. The depth in flavors made me want to meet the chefs and shake their hands. There is also a sweet potato pound cake that you did not get to see here because it was devoured before I could think about touching my camera lol. Don't skip dessert.

    Seafood Rasta Pasta (mildly spicy)

For starters .. let me say there was absolutely no wait time ! We got greeted the min we stepped foot into the door. I am a total fan of pressed fresh juices however I was with my boyfriend who is not! (Not many other options for drinks) limited to just beers for alcoholic drink. (We went with water and a beer each) appetizer we ordered were amazing!!! I wish the fondue had more chips the portion of the fondue is pretty big. The Rasta pasta we ordered was too salty for my taste . (It was def the sauce on top of it not the actual noodles ) IT WAS SUCH A BUMMER SINCE IS OUR FIRST TIME IN ATLANTA COMING ALL THE WAY FROM NY and I was super excited to try soul food down south food. Over all the service was friendly and super attentive . The place is small but super intimate . Would I return again ...prob yes ! To give their sandwiches a try as they look delicious on the menu.

    Oyster Mushroom Po Boy
    Cherelle J.

First time visiting. I ordered the oyster mushroom po boy, creole mac & cheese and soursop tea. The po boy was good. The mushrooms were fried perfectly, but it didn't have much flavor. The creole Mac &!cheese was not good at all. I'm not sure what sauce they used but I couldn't finish it. I would recommend they find a different vegan cheese and also add some seasoning. Overall they customer service was great not sure if I'd return. I'd like to try other places also.

    Country Fried Soul Food Platter
    Reginice C.

I ordered the Country Fried Soul Food Platter and large cheese sauce for pickup. Overall, the food was bland with the exception of the Mac and cheese. The fried mushroom tasted unseasoned. The mash potatoes were okay. The greens were... blah. The Mac and cheese was the highlight, but that's not redemption for how unsatisfying the meal was. The price didn't match the portion; $26. Everything on the menu seemed to be overpriced. This isn't the first time I've been to the restaurant, as I use to go to get a cupcake they carried from a local vendor. The food was overpriced back then too. Also, I was disappointed with the $6 Large Cheese sauce portion, yal, the container wasn't even half full. Overall, not a good experience and likely my last here.

Wow! Let me say it backwards for dramatic effect--WOW! I could use a bunch of flowery adjectives to describe the fantastic food, the warm welcoming service, and this hipster vibe this place gives. But until you get in the car, DRIVE HERE and experience this for yourself, mere words will not even explain this dining experience. Is it possible that EVERY SINGLE thing they make here is mind blowing delicious? Yes. It. Is. Get the Philly steak (made with portobello mushrooms and I don't even like those mushrooms--or so I thought). Be sure to get the sweet and spicy oyster mushroom's appetizer. I regret not getting TWO! I shared with my husband (but I really wanted them ALL for myself). And if you come here (trust me, you will kick yourself if you don't) GET THAT RASTA PASTA! Oh my my my! Allow your tastebuds this experience. You will not be disappointed.

    Blackened Shrimp Alfredo pasta

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Have had this place before on uber eats and decided to come in person. The establishment was not at all upscale as advertised, they asked if we wanted plastic cutlery. The server was clearly not familiar with the menu, he came back twice and asked us for what sides we wanted. We never even received the sides and paid an outrageous tab. The tap water had an awful after taste. The table next to ours got their food but they came in 15 minutes after us which was odd. The owner checked on every table to make sure they were ok except for ours. I felt very discriminated against. We waited 40 minutes to be served and the appetizer came at the very end. The shrimp alfredo pasta was not edible due to it tasting like straight salt. Overall experience was very disappointing and will not be getting my business ever again.

I went on a holiday, which was super busy, but even so, service was prompt and attentive. I ordered a pasaflora to drink, which had a beautiful flower in it, queso blanco with chips, al pastor mushroom tacos, chochoyotes, and flan for dessert. Every single dish was inspired, layered with flavor, creative, and truly unique. The presentation was also lovely and each bite felt thoughtful and well-executed. I would order everything a million times over! One thing that especially stood out was the flan's texture, which was silky, delicate, and perfectly balanced. I was also pleasantly surprised to see fried green tomatoes on the menu. It felt like such a special nod to the restaurant's Southern location, blending regional influence in a really cool way. The owner was super nice, which made the experience even better. The decor is gorgeous and so inviting, with intimate, cozy lighting. The whole space feels clean, artistic, and thoughtfully designed. This is an amazing date-night spot that I truly hope sticks around for a long, loooong time. Everything about the atmosphere and experience makes it perfect for a special evening out. I'm already planning to go back and explore more of the menu, but based on my first visit alone, I might even dare to say this is the best vegan restaurant in Atlanta. The jury's still out, but I'm more than happy to keep doing the research to confirm!! lol Last thing I'll say is that I was so grateful not to have to wade through a bunch of non-vegan menu options to figure I it what I could actually order. I also don't have to wonder if my food was being cooked next to a slab of dead animal, which is not the case most places I go. So, thank you for being ALL vegan. The food is so good that there is no chance a non-vegan will feel they've missed out on meat anyway. Logistical stuff: I saw a little bit of street parking, but not a ton. Parking in the deck is definitely the easiest option. You could theoretically bike/skate the Beltline and just walk a couple of blocks to get there. The space is on the smaller side, so I'd recommend making a reservation to be safe if you're visiting on a Friday/Saturday night.

I got the South of the Border wrap. The full size is enough for two people. It is stuffed with kale (I get the spicy one and it has a nice kick to it), avocado, black bean hummus, and couscous. I highly recommend! I usually order ahead of time and come to pick it up because service is slow. Online, it will say your order is ready in 10-15 minutes, but that is not true. Wait at least 30-45 minutes to pick it up. There were about four customers in line when I arrived but it moved as slow as molasses. I recommend ordering online if you don't have extra time to wait. Also know what you want when you arrive, it helps move the line a little quicker. This is a raw vegan restaurant that is known for their kale mix. You have your choice of wraps, spicy kale, mild kale or you can do a 50/50 blend. The spicy has heat which i love but I'm glad I did the 50/50, it was perfect. There is a free parking lot a few steps away from the business and it's large so you shouldn't have a problem finding parking. I had the south of the border with a chili wrap and all ingredients. I had the half size which was extremely large and enough for two people to share or enough for two days. It's such a beautiful wrap but personally not my favorite. All the ingredients were very fresh but it was something that I just didn't enjoy about it. Maybe it was the Moroccan couscous flavor. I'm willing to try another wrap and will probably go with the OG or Dat Ish. Prices were okay for the serving size you receive. There are tables outside. And the employees were all pleasant.

We got: - Chicken Satay: The chicken itself was so believable, stringy and smoky! And crunchy (though I'm used to satay meat being grilled). The sauce was tasty too- peanut-y, sweet, hint of curry. However, for $8, I'd expect at least 4 skewers. - Shrimp Chow Kway Teow: CKT is one of my favorite noodle dishes ever, and Mamak's version certainly did it justice. The wok hei was so present, the noodles perfectly chewy, and the veggies (snow pea, onion, carrot, bean sprouts) well-cooked. The shrimp was insane, so bouncy and real-feeling. - Olive Fried Rice: Can't say I've ever had olive leaves before, this dish was delightful! Lots of great toppings (tofu, carrot, green bean, mushroom) that gave some textural diversity. - Black Pepper Beef: The black pepper essence was clearly distinguishable, but the sauce was too sweet for me. The beef was truly reminiscent of the actual thing. Lots of tasty veggies again (cauliflower, celery, jicama, carrot, bell pepper). Overall, taste-wise, all of the dishes were great; however, we did not feel portion sizes matched prices. Service could also stand to improve, with regards to attentiveness. To note, the restaurant is self-seating (I wish there was something that said this at the entrance).
