Mac & chz - good but not great. Very creamy
    Britney C.

Came here to try the Mac & chz, I recently went mostly plant-based and been on the hunt for a good Mac. The staff is awesome, they allowed me to sample the Mac n chz & kale bone. The kale bone was good and the Mac seemed like a winner. I ordered just the side of Mac. The Mac is good not great, very creamy texture that I grew tired of the more I ate it. It does of the classic seasonings of smoked paprika and garlic powder but I am just a Stan for baked Mac & chz. But I would dine here again to try other items on the menu. Parking- confusing. Still not sure where their designated parking is. I went to CVS prior so I just stayed in their lot while I got my Togo. Also was confused on how to get in the restaurant as the front door was closed. You have yo go inside the building, and I think the entranceway was past the barber shop, someone had to guide me.

Tried this spot while doing a tour. The food was delicious and fresh. Had the cabbage and yams and it was very tasty, seasoned just right. The yams was really savory and was a natural sweet. My husband added a little rice to his cabbage and a piece of cornbread. The cornbread was baked perfectly, but it wasn't the Louisiana cornbread (sweet) but the piece I snatched was good. The restaurant itself was very clean and inviting. The area where the food was prepared was really clean. The restroom (the men) was exceptionally clean. The women's was out of order. The guy serving the food was energetic with great customer service.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Tasty veg soul food with a funky, down-home (cafeteria) ambience. The hubby and I were in the area looking for some veg eats and happened to find this place on the Yelp app. It's definitely a community gem and was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. You order at the counter, cafeteria-style, with the plastic tray and everything. I got their combo plate with the quiche, collared greens, mac and cheese and corn bread. You don't run into a lot of vegan soul food so it was a nice treat. I thought the corn bread was a bit too dry, though. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the food speaks for itself. I'd definitely try them again.

The restaurants gray in the portion sizes are awesome. The only thing I would say is that the food is a bit pricey. The food is served cafeteria style and the hospitality was great. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for vegan soul food you're in the right place.

Convenient west side location; this restaurant was a great option for my vegetarian appetite. I was greeted with a warm welcome upon entry which is always a nice touch (especially for an ATLien. The hot buffet style options were behind a glass & served by kitchen staff. I chose greens, yams and mac-n-cheese. This vegetarian dinner included a small garden salad that was paired with a delicious dressing. Everything was superb! Very filling but bit in a heavy senae. I saved my 2 soft baked cookies for the day after and they were on point as well. I'll be back next time I'm in the A for sure. My only complaint is the restroom could have used some attention. ~Christy

    Veggie plate 12.50

So hubby and I went here looking for some local vegetarian foods. We found this location by looking at Google maps (totally a mistake!). Nonetheless...here we are. COVID: Masks are in play at this location, but totally by choice. Two employees wore them, two did not. LOCATION: This is located a pretty busy street. Parking is not clearly noticeable, as the closest parking lot is right next door at CVS. Problem is, it marked for CVS only. So we parked in another lot a little further away for other businesses just to make sure we didn't get booted or the like. ATMOSPHERE: It's an older building. We were advised the business had been there for 40 years. Decor inside it pretty basic. Reggae music playing, but you primarily walk to the back and get the food from a food line setup. SERVICE: Service was really good. From our faces, the man preparing the food could tell it was our first time. He was very kind and had good personality offering us several samples. FOOD: There is only 1 picture because my husband and I ordered the same exact meal to go, and no drink. We did not get a drink, because they only had 2 options (a detox drink and tropical punch drink-both seemed fresh made in house possibly). We ordered the Veggie plate, which includes 3 sides and a piece of cornbread. The cost of the plate was $12.50 per plate. The portions seemed reasonable for the price (this is about the going rate). So the overall flavor....was interesting. The greens and cornbread lacked flavor. You can tell greens were cooked in something, but no pronounced flavor of anything-still ate it. I was able to manage without complaint. The cornbread...tsk tsk tsk. I was excited to try this cornbread, as it was so pretty and yummy looking. But this is the first time I could not get through the actual piece. The texture was there, but ZERO flavor. It was weird.. how do you even do that? Jiffy has more flavor. No sweet or savory.. just nothing. The yams tasted like your basic canned yams. You really can't mess up this type of yams...nature did all the work here. Lastly, Mac n chz. This was really interesting, as the flavor was there...but I think it was vegan. I'm not sure what they used it in, but I couldn't finish it. But the seasonings were present..again weird. So 2 we are 2 went to the trash. I think my husband made it thru his Mac n chz. While we were there, the offered as samples spinach quiche and a veggie lasagna. The quiche was salty, and the veggie lasagna was made with some type of lentils or something that wasn't quite right in the combination of it all. So overall, I was glad to have an opportunity to support a small business that has served the community for years. While we were there, there was a young man that said he eats there every day and plans to eat there every day for the rest of his life. So some locals love it, but as for us..this one is a one and done. So I would give it 3 stars...maybe the next newbie with have a better or more consistent flavor experience. ‍

We ordered two vegetarian plates with macaroni and cheeze, yams, and collard greens, with cornbread. The collard greens are nicely seasoned, and despite other reviews trying to claim that the sweet potatoes/yams are canned, they absolutely are not - they are delicious! The cornbread is a little bland, but I can get over that... What I don't know if I can get over is that the mac & cheeze tastes like it was made with banana? No, really. Maybe they used a vanilla sweetened soy milk instead of plain? But it really does taste like banana. Aesthetically your brain can trick you into thinking that it's savory, but it really just tastes like banana. 5 stars regardless because VEGAN RESTAURANTS ROCK!

Soul Vegetarian gets 2 stars because the food is good & I didn't feel sleepy or lethargic after eating decent soul food! However, the customer service was non-existent and it was extremely HOT in the restaurant. Air conditioning is definitely a must in Georgia in the Spring. Walked in the restaurant and was completely confused on where and how to order. ONE friendly employee guided me towards the food. There aren't any menus...just a small sheet of paper at the beginning of the ordering line with the prices. The employee serving the food went over the covered options really quick. I had to ask her to repeat everything she said. I inquired about the two main entrees...and the employee had no idea whether they were good..."she serves the food, not cooks it." Thanks to that response I ordered the veggie plate. Ordered the macaroni, greens, yams and cornbread ($11.16). A bit pricey for the small portions, but i'm thankful the macaroni was in the largest section of the plate. The macaroni was amazingly good. I went in there with low expectations but the flavor was spot on with the macaroni. The noodles were seasoned just like you season meat. Not really cheesy, but that's ok. The greens weren't memorable. They needed some onions or pepper sauce. The yams were good. Not as sweet, of course, but they were yummy. The cornbread was very dry (don't eat it without a tall glass of water). But i'm a fan of dry cornbread...I just know everyone may not enjoy it that dry. I would definitely like to try the other locations. The customer service at this location made for a disappointing experience.

Live right down the street and finally decided to try to spot out last weekend! First tip, call ahead to find out what is on the menu!! They do not have a set menu and if you are looking at reviews and have something specific in mind, you will be disappointed. The day that we went, they only had vegan pizza and quiche as the entree. I was not interested in either of those so I opted for a veggie plate. I got the mac&cheese, yams, and collards. I must say, they were all good. It didn't blow me away or anything but I definitely finished my plate. It also came with a side of cornbread and that was the driest cornbread I ever had. You can definitely skip out on it. I also though the price for just a veggie plate was bit much. I may be back to try some of the other items when they are serving it.

You have your choice of wraps, spicy kale, mild kale or you can do a 50/50 blend. The spicy has heat which i love but I'm glad I did the 50/50, it was perfect. There is a free parking lot a few steps away from the business and it's large so you shouldn't have a problem finding parking. I had the south of the border with a chili wrap and all ingredients. I had the half size which was extremely large and enough for two people to share or enough for two days. It's such a beautiful wrap but personally not my favorite. All the ingredients were very fresh but it was something that I just didn't enjoy about it. Maybe it was the Moroccan couscous flavor. I'm willing to try another wrap and will probably go with the OG or Dat Ish. Prices were okay for the serving size you receive. There are tables outside. And the employees were all pleasant.

I would order everything a million times over! One thing that especially stood out was the flan's texture, which was silky, delicate, and perfectly balanced. I was also pleasantly surprised to see fried green tomatoes on the menu. It felt like such a special nod to the restaurant's Southern location, blending regional influence in a really cool way. The owner was super nice, which made the experience even better. The decor is gorgeous and so inviting, with intimate, cozy lighting. The whole space feels clean, artistic, and thoughtfully designed. This is an amazing date-night spot that I truly hope sticks around for a long, loooong time. Everything about the atmosphere and experience makes it perfect for a special evening out. I'm already planning to go back and explore more of the menu, but based on my first visit alone, I might even dare to say this is the best vegan restaurant in Atlanta. The jury's still out, but I'm more than happy to keep doing the research to confirm!! lol Last thing I'll say is that I was so grateful not to have to wade through a bunch of non-vegan menu options to figure I it what I could actually order. I also don't have to wonder if my food was being cooked next to a slab of dead animal, which is not the case most places I go. So, thank you for being ALL vegan. The food is so good that there is no chance a non-vegan will feel they've missed out on meat anyway. Logistical stuff: I saw a little bit of street parking, but not a ton. Parking in the deck is definitely the easiest option. You could theoretically bike/skate the Beltline and just walk a couple of blocks to get there. The space is on the smaller side, so I'd recommend making a reservation to be safe if you're visiting on a Friday/Saturday night.
