I cannot overstate the overall excellence of this shop. No matter how busy they are, they greet and treat each customer like they're there to buy a $5000 bike, even if they just need a tube. If you need simple maintenance or an adjustment, they will do it right then if it's remotely possible, or apologetically schedule you for later. The key is, they are passionate advocates for biking, period. I bought my last bike elsewhere (which KILLED me) but I'm happy, therefore so are they. Plus, no one in Eugene knows or cares more about fitting. I could go on and on - I just love the place and the people. read more

During my last bike build, I hit a bottom bracket installation snag that no one I talked to could figure out, until I brought it into Life Cycle. Gilad called Zack over and he had it done right in seconds; no charge. (And, even though I didn't appear to be listening at the time, I'm changing my handlebars on David's advice: the way that guy's lighting up Strava, I'd be a fool not to do what he says.) Elitist? These guys are amazing!! We were driving to Cycle Oregon and had a problem on the highway with our bike rack. We stopped in unannounced and the team fit us in and fixed us up. Had a decent selection of accessories but prices were pretty inflated. They advertise 10% for students but that it doesn't mean much if prices are marked up. Mechanics were loud and obnoxious. Had to wait until someone else offered to ring me up because guy working at the counter wouldn't stop making small talk with another customer. Store was cluttered and in a mess. Bought what I needed because other shops didn't have the item I was looking for. Not sure why this place has such good reviews but did not have a good experience when I visited. read more

I was incredibly impressed with my experience at Life Cycle. The owner, Justin, was incredibly helpful both with a fitting on my road bike and while buying a new mountain bike. With my road bike fitting, he was respectful in helping me with female fit issues while still making sure everything was addressed. With the mountain bike, he spent probably 45 minutes with me explaining everything I needed to know about the bike (after he spent a good bit of time helping me pick out the bike). I contacted this bike shop for a mountain bike rental. I'm tall (6'5") and finding bikes in my size is not always easy. They had a Santa Cruz Heckler in XL that fit me perfectly. The bike performed flawlessly on the 26 mile MRT (wish I could say the same about my riding)! Came here last year to buy an 11 speed chain. I asked for what I wanted and they seemed to doubt that was what I needed (I don't know if it's because I am a woman or what) and the way in which they said it seemed super condescending and rude. Also they are way over priced. I ended up buying the chain online from Art's Cyclery (it's way cheaper than anything you will find at this bike shop). I would never come here again. Go to Collins (for the mechanics) or Paul's (not for the mechanics) before coming here. read more

Awesome experience! I just moved to Eugene and I was in the market for a bike. Life Cycle had excellent reviews so I tried them out. They took the time to ask about what I was looking for, explain pros and cons to me and helped me work with my budget. They special ordered a bike that fit me and went above and beyond to find it when it was back ordered. When it came in, they spent time fitting me and answering lots of questions. Very knowledgeable and efficient service. I have been stuck in a hotel for two days after flying out to Portland(from MA) to start our cross country bicycle tour. After only 3 days of riding, my left knee was killing me! Jabbing pains, and thinking the worst, I made an appointment for an orthopedic doctor in town. My husband and I just happened to stumble upon Life Cycle Bike Shop and I went in just to ask about my knee and have them check my seat position. Instantly, Gilad identified the cause of my knee issue. Not only did he fix the seat position, they also fixed my cleat too. This all took approximately 15 minutes at the most. The guys downstairs when I walked in, greeted me right away, and told me to go upstairs and they were sure I could be helped, and I was!! I have been in bike shops all over New England, and have NEVER been served as well as I was today at Life Cycle Bike Shop. The only shop in eugene that seems to have employees that love bikes & biking. Racing, touring, dorking -- you name it, they'll help you do it. They're enthusiastic, and it's contagious. The go-to place for customer service. Especially strong with mountain bikes, but solid road offerings, and definitely the place to go for a fitting. read more

Been here a few times, bought a new bike from them once and have had a few tune-ups. The boys in the back feel clique-ish and seem to have an oversized collective ego. That said, I think they mean well and have a decent body of knowledge. Their attitude can be a bit of a turn off however, and I plan to visit shops in the future that are a bit more respectful and warm. read more

Rolled into Eugene today and wanted to ride the bike trail down by the river. I didn't have a lot of time, so I checked out bike shops on YELP and found these guys. They were great! I called to confirm they had bikes, showed up 20 minutes later and rode out 20 minutes after that, with map and directions in hand. I had an absolutely great experience buying a bicycle at Life Cycle! I had been looking to buy a new bike for several months and had checked out many bike stores in Eugene and Portland. I finally decided to purchase my bike at Life Cycle and I'm so glad I did. The crew there are fantastic! Even though I have been biking for a few decades, I had a lot of questions concerning the most current bikes. Justin and Gilad were both willing and patient while answering all of my (many) questions, and were so knowledgeable about the products. Justin went out of his way to make sure I bought the perfect bike for me, rather than trying to sell me the most expensive one. He spent a long time showing me the specs on two different bikes. I walked away feeling thrilled about the bike I bought. Because they are so thorough with each customer, occasionally you have to wait your turn to be helped, but it's well worth it for the individualized attention you will receive. After buying my bike I've been back for my 20 hour check-up and I've still continued to receive great care. Everyone at Life Cycle is not only concerned about how the bike is put together, but also how it fits you and how it continues to ride long after you've bought it. I really appreciate the care and detail that Steve, one of the mechanics, has shown towards my bike every time he has worked on it. The guys at Life Cycle are clearly part of a great team, and they all add so much to the shop. Justin and Steve were great about talking to me regarding different physiological symptoms I've previously experienced while riding my bike and finding solutions to resolve them. I am not a cyclist, but I enjoyed immensely the Friday night social ride. I believe they do it every Friday at 6. Don't have a light? Call ahead and they may be able to provide one for you. It is a very challenging ride for a beginner, but its a great way to test your enjoyment of the sport and maybe go from there. Word of advice: save your energy on that first hill, find a low gear and get comfortable, its a long one! read more

After driving 3 hours to buy a bike from Paul's Bicycle way of life on 5th Ave, I arrived with $1500 cash in hand to find that they had sold the bike out from under me, which then led to me being treated extremely rude by the staff for no reason. I left Paul's feeling down in the dumps, with doubts that there are any nice people left in the world. I stopped into Life Cycle just to browse. Every single employee greeted me with a smile and they dropped everything to talk to me, doing the same for any other customer in the store. The mechanics, everyone, huddled around and listened to my unfortunate events with Paul's. They asked me what type of riding I like to do, where I go, and what my price range was, doing everything they could to find me a bicycle. Bottom line is these guys are passionate about riding and truly care about how they treat every person that walks through the door. I didn't end up getting a bike, but am very hopeful that when I do, it will be from these guys! read more
