I have been on Yelp for 14 years and in all that time have left about 12 reviews so I am not one to make a habit of leaving a review. This was/is necessary because it could have been avoided if the management knew what they were doing. I live 3 streets away, the parking was amazing and only $96 a month. So why have I left to go to The Bay club at $229 a month? Because the sound system sucks and they INSIST on always played loud booming music every afternoon. Terrible sound system this is NOT a hip hop crowd nor a crowd that likes banging in their ears. I would have stayed mentioned it to management they did nothing. And when I would ask them to turn it down I felt attitude. I am now back at the Bay Club paying more than twice as much but I do have a smile on my face so it's worth it. No booming music, I can actually hear my earbuds. If life gym had turned the music down and it had not been so obnoxious (the music) every day when I came to work out I would have stayed. Worst yet is when I left I gave notice IN PERSON and was assured my CC was taken off the system that moment so nothing further would be charged. GUESS WHAT, they put through a $96 charge yesterday even though I am no longer a member. So the guy at the front desk basically lied to me when he said he had removed my cc info. Bad stuff read more

I would never recommend this gym. the trainers except for one or two are rude and aggressive the women at the front desk is just as bad. it's a very toxic atmosphere and I'd say just don't go but they do have fantastic parking and it's convenient for me otherwise I'd be gone. l'm on the look out for a new gym. the owner needs to sort his staff out it's not a pleasant place to be. read more

He has given me terrific feedback about both my exercise routine and diet, not to mention he's always in a good mood. Although it isn't huge, I've never needed extremely large gyms. THIS IS A CHEAPSKATE GYM. You can tell they don't put money into anything. Everything is breaking down. Only the gym staff cleans the gym so there isn't an actual cleaning crew to deep clean the place every so often. Meanwhile, the manager just stands there at the desk on her phone blasting music. The best thing about this gym is the underground parking lot of the office building it's within. Brightly lit, large spaces, fast elevators and lots of EV charging stations if you have an electric. But once you go into the nice and newly remodeled lobby of this office building and enter the gym it's like it's 1974 in there. The equipment is old, creaky and dusty. I would guess the newest piece of equipment is probably 25 years old, and that's being generous. You can watch TV while on an elliptical or bike which is a plus but evaluating what's in there, very little is usable. The locker rooms are a joke. It really dark where the lockers are so I use the tiny ones in the gym and of course you have to bring your own lock. To go to the bathroom you have to exit the gym and down a hallway with the key. It's not horrible just bare bones basic and hours on the weekend are a joke closing at 1 PM or 4 PM. read more

I like the gym BUT for the amount you pay for the month here are a few issues: 1. Closing at 4pm on Sat and 1 pm On Sundays. Really?? I would say 5 or 6. 2. You get 1 towel. 1. They are clearly very old towels too. 3. At my rate, in 2019, isn't the gym a little embarrassed at the fact there's a spiral notebook for a sign in sheet. I can program an iPad for you. 4. The cardio equipment is old. I can hear the belts 5. When women have to travel to the 6th floor bc the woman's restroom isn't working-you question where the $ is going. I like the gym bc it's convenient, the people are nice and it's not a muscle head gym BUT management needs to get it to par esp since they want to justify a rate increase. It's insulting to raise the prices for old cheap towels and a sign in book. read more

I felt like this was the only way to reach the owners since the Manager (also the woman who answers the phone) told me there was no way for me to reach anyone else besides her. To The Owners: Your Manager has really poor customer service and phone skills. Maybe she is having a bad day, I don't know, but I had to ask her to repeat the membership packages (because she spoke them fast) and the way she treated me was really uncalled for, considering her job is to help me understand what you offer. I kindly asked if there was any way to talk to another person and she made it clear that I wasn't going to be able to do that. Even the website emails go to her, she said (which I did send one, by the way). I tried to talk to her after she said there was no other point of contact, but she hung up on me when I asked what her name was. Her customer service skills are very poor. She just seems very unhappy to be doing what she is doing and I thought you should know. At the very least, I hope that you will consider allowing someone else to answer the phones! read more

This gym is in desperate need of a remodel. To start the washer and dryer for the gym is located in the men's locker room so expect whoever's working at the time to barge inside while you're changing/showering etc. In addition the curtain for one of the showers is missing. Toilets are not located in the locker rooms themselves expect to go elsewhere which is outside the actual gym. Speaking of lockers they're sketchy leave your valuables somewhere safer. The lighting throughout the gym is inconsistent some places are bright/dark. For the price you pay these issues shouldn't exist. read more

I walked into the gym to join and the person at the front desk was not friendly. His name is Solomon or a name similar to that one. Instead of answering my questions, he got very defensive. When I asked about membership rates, he showed me a sheet of paper and didn't walk me through the differences between no contract or contract rates. I asked asked for clarification and I could tell he was getting frustrated. I told him that I could tell his tone was defensive and I said it was okay that he take a moment for himself to regain composure. He then proceeded to say that he didn't want to talk to me. I was confused because how was I suppose to sign up for a membership if he didn't want to talk me. I said I'd be more than happy if someone else could help me since he didn't want to talk to me. He said he was the only person available. Overall, the whole interaction was unpleasant and very surprising to me. I would think that a gym would want to hire a receptionist who is friendly, communicative and excited to have more members join the gym. I'd like to compare my experiences at Life Gym to Iron Gym. When I went to Iron gym, I was immediately greeted with a smile. The receptionist asked me if I was new and I said I was looking for a gym. He offered to give me a tour of the facilities. I didn't even have to ask him because he offered that to me right away. He chatted with me and asked me what my fitness goals are. At the end of the tour, he clearly communicated the membership rates and said he hope to see me as a regular member in the future. I asked questions and he answered them, while maintaining a positive attitude. read more

What a selection of equipment! Nice treadmills, lots of mirrors so you can keep an eye on your form, and a great trainer-mine Monique Richardson. She's great at improving my form and maximizing my work outs. With all those comments I would give the gym five stars, however the locker room leaves much to be desired, it's too small, two showers that 40% of the time provide only cold water , be careful what you say to because there's only a partial wall separating the men and women's locker rooms, some of the conversations I hear are quite enlightening! Is the only gym I've ever seen with this "feature". They seem to have difficulty maintaining helpful, courteous staff. All things considered, it's not worth the price. UPDATE Nov 2016: Improvements have been made. New equipment, though I don't use much of it, they've dressed up of the back workout area with better flooring, the locker room is still small but the showers are no longer cold on a regular basis and there's an improved shampoo/body wash etc. my review was 2/5 before, now it's 3.4/5, can't give em 4 read more

Great vibe!!! I love it here, it has the BEST equipment, it's never overcrowded, memberships are cheap, and I love the trainers. What I love the most is the 2 hrs free parking and that I feel safe. I love the towel service as well. There's also a deli for protein shakes or food and bathrooms outside of the gym which is great because bathrooms inside gyms are disgusting air to be breathing in. A neighborhood jewel! Staff and gym members are the best! I've been going to gym's on the Westside for years, and I've noticed that this particular gym attracts some of the best personal trainers around. There's also a physical therapy office within the gym (ATP), so it's very convenient if that's something you need (I used them to recover from knee surgery and they were excellent). Equipment is extensive, and well maintained. Almost never a wait for anything. I believe they have validated parking in the building (I'm a tenant so I don't use that service). I often see the owners walking around making sure everything is just right. This is a well run, super clean gym that's got a great feel. I would highly recommend Life Gym to anyone looking for a high value gym membership. read more
