I always dread renewing my ACLS every 2 years, it's such a gruesome experience with megacodes, EKG…read morereadings, etc. I usually get my renewal through work but this year I decided to try something different. I wanted to try a renewal outside of work with the hopes that it is less stressful. I came across this place through my Yelp search based on the high ratings. When I went to the website, the option to renewal was online portion + skills assessment. I was worried about the skills assessment. I purchased it and scheduled my skills assessment. The online portion is something I have done in the past with my other renewals which really helps prep you with the algorithms and lots of feedback. The online portion is nice because you work at your own pace, on your own time. You must completed the online portion in order to do the skills assessment in person. Before my skills assessment, I received very helpful e-mails to help me pass my skills assessment. They had some videos and helpful tips in the e-mail. When I arrived to the location at San Ramon, I was a little confused as I easily missed the door and was very lost. I called the phone number and they were very helpful in guiding me on where to go. There is NO instructor there, it's just a manikin hooked up to the computer that assesses the skill. I thought the videos helped me pass the skills assessment. I did have to re-do some sections a couple times but the feedback from the computer helped me and I think the e-mail tips clicked after doing the skills assessment. Overall, the skills assessment was definitely less stressful than I expected. It wasn't that bad. I definitely plan to return to do my BLS + ACLS renewal here, it's very chill and at your own pace! I love it. This really eases my anxiety regarding renewal, I would highly recommend for anyone that wants to renew! Everything is at your own pace. You do only have an hour to do the skills assessment, which I felt was PLENTY of time! The skills assessment focuses mainly on the breaths/compressions of CPR and 2:1 teamwork.

I love that this location has its own little parking lot in the back and you just follow the instructions which are emailed to you in order to access the office where you will do your skills testing. Not that this is a dealbreaker, but just be aware there is no restroom at this location. Last year I recall there used to be, but they have now locked the adjoining door so you cannot access the restroom if you need to go. The other thing was it doesn't seem that the cart the mannequin is on is able to be moved; or maybe I just couldn't move it? I went in the morning hours and the sun was shining right in my eyes. Just be forewarned if you decide to go to the Castro Valley location - - use the bathroom first and you may want to bring some sunglasses just in case LOL

They send text reminders when it comes close to the date you set and easy rescheduling if need to be. Inside the classroom they followed COVID rules with 6 feet apart and modified the team skills so you can do individually but still hands on. The course instructor Connor was amazing. Very energetic and spoke clearly. He was easy to talk to if we had any questions. Definitely recommend and will be back in 2 years to renew.

We finished about 20 mins early. The only thing that we didn't get to do was operating the AED machine. I'm pretty familiar with AED machine coz my airline job provide BLS training every year, but I can imagine for some people, it's very new. The instructor show how to operate it live, and it was also in the video. The BLS card is valid for 2 years and I'm planning to renew mine in this location.

TBH I was a little unsure how it would turn out. However, the VAM (Voice Assisted Manikin) system was super easy to navigate and I loved how the VAM provides personalized feedback on your depth and rate during compression/breath. The company also does a really good job of providing all the instructions you may need. There is a video on their website on how to access the suite and multiple videos available providing you tips on how to successfully pass the exam with the VAM.

As a recent gun owner, it was time for me to take the time to learn how to use my instrument. So,…read moremy hubby, daughter and I decided to take Kevin's course in collaboration with Prof Jeff Macalolooy of Dragons Den MMA. They taught us how to disarm weapons and handle firearms. It is a 6-hour course which I thought was going to be waaaay too long, but it went by at a nice clip. It included 3 hours in the classroom where Kevin discussed, in an engaging and often hilarious manner, "firearm history, laws, safety and proper handling." Jeff then led us through hand-to-hand combat and how to disarm an attacker. I appreciated this as a woman, as every woman should have a rudimentary idea of how to protect herself. We then spent three hours on the range. As someone who has never really handled a handgun before, it was intimidating to fire so many rounds but to also be around people who were more familiar with a gun than I was. To Kevin and Jeff's credit, they taught us in a manner that both beginners and more seasoned shooters could understand. As a beginner, I needed extra support. Thankfully, having two instructors made all the difference: one (Kevin) could keep the main group moving at a steady pace, while the other (Jeff) could devote more time to reinforcing weak spots and helping a newbie like me work through any lingering hesitation. Jeff really helped me in this area. There was a point where I felt like giving up (partly because I couldn't draw my gun fast enough with the new holster that I bought), so Jeff switched mine out and provided me with a holster that solved that problem. Indeed, any issue I might have had was addressed and resolved. I am now looking forward to the women's only training course they will offer in August, as I believe that will allow me to feel less intimidated and will continue to bolster my confidence in weapon disarms and firearm handling.
