If your are deciding to join Cherry Creek Athletic Club...Please reconsider!!!! You'll get a sweet sales pitch upon entering the office but trying to deal with upper management if a problem arises is not so pleasant. They honestly could care less. And please please read the small print which I was foolish enough not to do. I was new to Cherry Creek and in the middle of a move so I signed their contract first time I went in. My bad and I admit it but they are VERY good AND very pushy to get your signature. Please ask for a couple day use of the gym. That may be all you need to decide if you were or were not impressed with gym. The gym is nice but not worth the money. Not at all. There are so many nice gyms around here and much more affordable. Anyway, I asked if could pay a big penalty (after a few weeks there) and be released from contract as I only used the gym twice! I was told I signed a year contract and I was responsible for the whole year. I get that it was my bad as I said... but considering my traveling ( my dad had a stroke across the country) and my health, I had Lymes flare up, they would still not reconsider! Well, after the year was up and after paying almost $200 a mth for my daughter and myself, I noticed I got charged. They said it's in my contract to give them a letter that I would not be renewing my membership AND that I needed to give them a one months notice prior??!!! Are you KIDDING me? WOW! They got that 13th month out of me too! I have never heard of something like this and I have belonged to many gyms. This gym only wants your money and for you to sign on that dotted line asap. DO NOT RUSH! A year's a long time! Most gyms (and especially for that cost) would give you a week pass and allow you to try it before you join. As I said, I literally went there twice but got stuck with a full year. The "All about the money" mentality is not good business. The rush to have you sign should've been a clue! I have liked this gym in general, but they are out to make all the money they can from you. Watch your account, they will sneak things in if possible, and I have had staff members straight out lie to me. I have had good experience with the personal trainers and pilates instructors but you have to pick and choose and I do feel badly that they pay them so little, although I think that is industry standard. It is very crowded and very expensive, although unfortunately there are few other options in this area. Join if you don't have other choices, but if you do, look at those first! read more

Seems good at first, but AWFUL staff and angry vibe will have you wishing you hadn't signed a contract. They've got a few things going for them (location, pool) but the staff is just the right mix of stupid and rude that makes you want to stay away. I wish I could say it was some part-time college kids that didn't understand customer service but it starts with the leadership's attitude toward members that are treated like uninvited guests who are getting in the way of the 'more important things' they have to do. If you're angry about a recent a divorce, or want to grumble about Obama, or just want to vent your discontent to other curmudgeons in the locker room, then this is the place for you. If however you're a reasonably happy and somewhat friendly person looking for a positive experience, then stay away from the bad attitudes and bad decisions that permeate this place. If you're wondering why some reviews are good and others bad, then notice that the positive reviews are from fairly new members in the 'honeymoon' period. Take it from people like me that have been there for years: you will be nickel-and dimed while all the things you enjoy slowly fade away as the managers of this place make one terrible decision after the next. The facility isn't bad, but don't count on having your privacy or identity respected. Pictures of me were used in their marketing material without my permission. When I called them on it, the manager Janet Fletcher, called me a liar and hung the phone up on me. I'd never recommend this place. I worked with several trainers and they were more interested in what was going on around them than in your work out. it is the WORST. read more

I like everything about this gym , however some of the gym members are very rude and very aggressive ,making their own rules . Few times I brought my friends to the gym in hopes they will become a members of this fantastic gym, unfortunately , couple of my friends were told off in the very rude way by the senior members. Senior rate is- 80$ Normal rate is -127$ I'm very annoyed by their behaviors , this is not your home and if you would like to have a quite time then you should check in to the Spa or stay home and be miserable . Steam room - apparently is a quite room , in all honesty we were whispering to each other it was not a full on loud conversation. Also they are very selective with your race as well, if you are not white then they think they can tell you off at any time , I had seeing so many times few members would have a full on conversation in the sauna an no one had a guts to say anything to them . Im not writing this out of anger my long time observation made me write this review today . Compared to Ballys and 24hour this place is great. , Clean outdoor and indoor pool, huge work out area, tons of aerobic machines. Most everyone is courtesy about wiping machines down, not sitting bare butted on the benches in the locker room. The only downfall is the ancient age of the clientele. If you are under 50 you are a youngster. If they dont get some younger members all there current members are going to die off. Its also has a ultra conservative clientele talking loudly about how bad Obama is, watching Fox noise in the locker room. So, I'll be up front about my perspective. I am a married working mother of one ten-year-old. I didn't join the club to make friends or to be a part of a social scene. I joined because my husband wanted a club with a racquetball court. Prior to this had, I worked out at various Denver Parks and Rec. locations, the Denver Athletic Club and 24-Hour Fitness--so I have seen it all. For me the experience has been exactly what I needed to get back into shape and stay in shape. I generally work out four times a week with a mix of weights and swimming. Robin, one of the trainers, has given me an excellent workout routine. When we met, I said that I wanted the busy mom workout because I am no gym rat. She put together a routine that keeps me coming back and continues to stay challenging. The personal training is expensive; so I have gone just a few times when I feel like my routine is ready to go to the next level. I also took swimming lessons because I wanted to swim for exercise. Jackie, the aquatics instructor, was very encouraging. I am still trying to work up the courage to join their Swim for Fitness program, which is a great program that allows you to swim and improve your form with a group of fellow swimmers. All in all my experience with the training staff has been very positive. There are lots of classes, and I particularly like the mat pilates class on Sundays. Our son joined for the summer. The family changing room can get a little crowded with all the families trying to get into one of the three (not two shower areas). We've changed our routine and have decided to shower at home and it is a lot less stressful. The pool is always clean (not like the Parks and Rec pools) and the kids are polite and well-mannered. There are lounge-chairs around the leisure and lap pool, which is heated and open approximately 360 days a year. The locker rooms have steam, saunas and and whirlpools. It takes a little getting used to the nudity, but it is nice to feel like you can still hop in, even if you didn't bring your swim suit. There is also a lot of nude conversing--mostly by the older ladies. My husband tells me that many of the older men prefer to put their socks on before their underwear, which can be a bit jarring I imagine. The lockers are nice and they provide nice fluffy towels. My favorite part is the cell phone policy, which is no talking on them in the locker room. I would say 99% of the members comply. For me, the club has all the amenities that keep me coming back. As a working mom, my time there feels like a spa break from my day. I have developed the workout routines that I wanted and have gotten the figure back that I had in my twenties. So, far that, the club is five stars! read more

I love this place. They take great care of the facility, it's a very positive environment (in common areas at least, not so much in the locker room which is mostly comprised of older naked men complaining about politics, no matter what time of day it is), and I've been a member off and on since 2009. Unfortunately, they don't value loyalty, or common sense. I took a job in Phoenix, and asked if I could get out of the last 4 months of my one year contract, provided the offer letter, and fully explained my situation. They wouldn't let me out of it whatsoever, even though I no longer live in Denver, can't use the club, and when I complained, one of the responses suggested that I "ask my new company to pay the balance." Disgusting way to treat people. If and when we move back, we won't be returning to CCAC. Unreal that they are this awful about $500 and would rather me write a review on here than to take care of someone with a legitimate reason to terminate my contract early. Shame on CCAC. read more

My husband and I have been members for 3 years. The facilities are always clean, and the staff is friendly. I used to to to 24 hr and the athletic club is much much better - I won't go back. Downsides are 1. there a lot of added costs for specialized classes like TRX, Pilates, etc., and membership dues are already on the high side, 2. The pool is always super crowded, 3. Class schedules are geared towards people who don't have to be at work 8-6. read more

I became a member because it was the closest club with a decent swimming pool not great but okay. I am a member almost 2 years and wanted to cancel my membership because of the costs getting outrageous for my budget. And also another gym with a better swimming pool opened up, but also was thinking maybe I would return in a few years because of my children and different needs. Well now never ever! I wanted to cancel first thing I started my work on the 8th after semester vacation since I am a teacher. They told me my cancellation is effective on March 1st. Are you kidding me? Two months of extra pay!!! Their policies are inhumane. Do you want business in the future because the amount of people you make angry with these policies and small print enforcements will not come back you. You want young adults well then be more understanding for those. I would understand if I was a member less than a year but I did my due diligence by paying enormous amount even if you raised my fee without giving a notice several times over a year... Now finishing in this way makes me really frustrated. I will never ever try to do business with you and whoever asks I will advise to run away... Please READ before you become a member. If you have children, I strongly discourage this place. The facilities ie the pool & daycare might look nice, but that is as far as it goes. Cherry Creek Athletic Club wants the dues from families, but does not want to see or hear your children. The staff is rude, and the hours outside of summer are not accommodating to families. We have had numerous bad experiences here, but the best one happened a couple months ago. My 20 month old son was in the kids club and a daycare employee asked me, "What's wrong with him? I think he has autism." To me it doesn't matter if your child is delayed or not, it is extremely rude and ignorant to comment. So now for people without kids, if you want to join a club that discourages kids this is the place for you. The facilities are nice, but the staff is really rude. Due to our experience, we tried to cancel our membership but was unsuccessful. Julie who manages cancellations emailed me a scripted response from a message I had left her. When I emailed her back about our experiences here, there has been no response. So... Now we are members of a club until May that we don't feel welcomed at. read more

Incredible all around club! There is lots for everybody and for all abilities. They have the most incredible updated equipment as they just redid their state of the art weight and machine rooms(not sure who last commenter said the place was outdated, not true. They have more cardio machines from stairclimbers, elliptical, bikes, treadmills, you name it, they have it. They have two pools and a family pool that also has a wading area for ery small children and a very nice outdoor hot tub. Love that the lap pools are for adults only for exercise!! Unbelievable number of classes to choose from in regards to Zumba, yoga, hot yoga, spinning classes, Pilates and bar type classes etc..They offer all kinds s of camp classes, have tons of nice trainers that work with you if that's what you're into. They have a beautiful spa with full spa services, and in each locker room there are private sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi hot tub. The facilities are immaculate and I never have to wait for any of the equipment I want to use. Not sure how the person who left a review before me could possibly say the equipment is outdated as that's just ridiculous. I have never had an issue finding parking in their parking lot, and I also really like that they have an Ink coffee right inside the health club. The bottom line is this is an upscale gym with tons of activities, classes and even a basketball court if that's what you're into. read more

After 3 years of being a member at CCAC, I just cant do it anymore. I'm in my 30's, and by far one of the youngest people there. It's like working out at a nursing home. The old folks literally will sleep on the machines. The equipment is old, their newer machines are cheap, like residential quality. With all the competing gyms out there, CCAC just can't keep up now. They have attempted to make the facility and equipment better by expanding the club and adding "state of the art" machines, etc. but I can't continue to pay such a high price for last minute emails saying the gym will be closed or there will be limited equipment available. read more

This has got to be the worst customer service experience I have ever experienced. A couple of years ago we were members at this gym until my husband's locker was broken into and his pants, wallet, watch, phone and car keys were stolen. The gym staff claimed the security cameras were broken and there was nothing they can do. Here I am 2 years later and because my current gym is closed today, I decided I wanted to use the Cherry Creek pool and pay a daily fee to get my swim in. I was greeted by a not so friendly, frowning man who said, nothing more than, "We are an exclusive club and don't accept walk-ins". Those were his exact words. I've been a member of Cherry Creek Athletic Club for almost a year now. I came from Anschutz Health & Wellness Center, which is pretty much impossible to beat, other than their lack of a pool. I was looking for something that was between work and home, had a pool for lap swimming, wasn't 24 hour fitness, and this place fit the bill. Plus, I've worked at a few up-scale fitness clubs in the past during my college years, and I wanted something that at least had towel service and where I could find a machine or a spot in a yoga class. The good: I froze my membership for a while since it was summer and I wasn't using their facilities very much. That was super easy and painless, and the transaction was very friendly and accommodating. There are a few morning classes which are AWESOME--arms, core & more, as well as ski conditioning (which is just code for an awesome core/leg workout) both done by Katie are fabulous. $35 to freeze a membership is pretty steep, but better than paying the sign up fee again. They have an indoor and an outdoor pool which is great (when you can find a lane). They have a few new models of equipment, and racquetball courts which are nice. Buuuut, the list ends there. The bad: I've been thinking about writing a review for a while, but now that I got yet ANOTHER letter of how you "will notice a modest increase in membership dues" I'm just over it. Yay new carpet and "state of the art sound systems" for the group exercise rooms and indoor and outdoor pools. Cool? I thought it was fine before? Perhaps it's the vague line at the end of how they "upgraded key equipment necessary to operate the club" which makes me wonder? They also added 10 new pieces of equipment. Okay, so if I can actually snag one of these 10 in 100 pieces, I can work out on a machine where the buttons work, and I can actually set my phone down because the holders aren't broken? Upping dues twice in the last 10 months, when you're already paying a pretty price kind of irks me for that quality. Lastly (and with the caveat, that this might not be them?), when I started swimming in their pools, every day that I swam in the morning, I was CONVINCED that I was catching a cold--sneezing, an awfully runny nose, watery eyes, and I finally noticed that this happened on only the days I was swimming. I asked my PCP about this, and she mentioned that sometimes when there is a reaction of sweat with water and the water isn't circulating enough, that whatever reaction there is with chlorine and sweat can irritate the mucosal lining. I've never had this happen with any other pool. Me? Maybe. Them? Maybe. I get around it by wearing a nose-clip, which is annoying, but it's what I have to do. So, the bottom line. Will I continue my membership? Yes, I will. Why, with that kind of mean review? Because A. the location is convenient. B. they have a pool, which granted, I have to wear a nose clip now, but regardless it's there. and C. I can find a treadmill/elliptical/bike, even if it's a crappy, semi-broken model. And D. A few of their group exercise classes are really high quality. And fine, it's better than 24 hour fitness. And they have towel service. And in an effort to minimize the amount of women walking around topless, they've provided complimentary wraps, which I'm desperately hoping catch on...not so far, but we'll see. All in all, not particularly impressed, but not grossly dissatisfied either. The two star yelp caption of "Meh, I've experienced better" is perfect. If you can afford the dues, want something that has "cherry creek" and "club" in the title, and fills your basic workout needs, then eh, go for it. I'll see you there, grumbling, but still paying my dues. read more

This club is really clean and the staff are very professional. I've been a member for almost a year and the only time I can go without it being super crowded is at 8pm with little time to workout before it closes. The gym has way too many members. If you decide to go at peak hours, the dressing room is packed with people and I don't take advantage of the ammenadies like the steamroom or hottube. I won't be renewing my membership. I don't think its worth the expensive membership fees. read more

Ive been harassed 3 times in the locker room by one of the older. & seemingly preferred white patrons (I am not caucasian). The facility is wonderful, the people are horrible. A couple of examples: We were quoted the incorrect membership fee and then simply got an email - not a call, saying sorry we made a mistake but you have to pay the higher rate. Then we had our membership cancelled, because a person with a similar name cancelled and they cancelled ours by mistake Interestingly when accounting looked into it they were so proud to show us the cancellation letter - even so much to say "see here it is". I had to show them the name was actually different. No apology - just a "ok, we'll fix it". The trainers are as arrogant as I have ever met. If their heads were any bigger they couldn't fit through the door. The front desk is tremendously arrogant and not helpful. It is a shame a club that could be so good has hired people with no ethics, professionalism or respect to members. read more

Pool and hoops facilities are off the hook and the right mix of social atmosphere without impeding the reason we are there, to feel the burn. Exceptional staff. I have lived in the Denver market for 22 years and have been a member of a few athletic clubs in the Denver metro area. I am very fortunate to be able to work out at CCAC. It is not the least expensive club in Denver but this is a case of "you get what you pay for." The facilities are very high quality, clean, lots of amenities and I can always get in to a class, obtain a machine or a lane in the pool - even during high traffic times. You cannot say that about other clubs who "over sell" memberships at the expense of customer experience. There is a spa in the building which provides stellar services. Also, I have not encountered any "upcharges" outside of my monthly membership fee. I don't miss the funky locker rooms, gangster rap blasting from speakers and not being able to work out where/when I like (and truly get access to a full workout) from other less expensive clubs. There is nothing wrong with going budget and not everyone needs (or can afford) a high-end workout experience. However, my monthly membership fee at CCAC is more than reasonable given the facility, services and regular workouts I experience. They earn my 5 star rating. read more

I have been a member of CCAC for over 3 years. Every time I go, I am satisfied with my experience. I love the access to a variety of yoga and exercise classes. I joined the CCAC for the daycare program and decided to sign up for a free Pilates session with Carolyne. She has absolutely changed my life. I am an engineer and have been working at a desk for 12 years. I also have two kids under 5. Between the desk work and having the kids I developed hip bursitis and a winged scapula. I've seen 2 physical therapists, orthopedic, chiropractor, and masseuse. Carolyne has made the most impact on improving my body dynamics than all of them combined. She watched me walk on our first session and she knew what muscles were too weak and which ones needed stretching out. I feel better than ever working with her for almost 3 months. We have been members for 6+ years. Really enjoy the cardio equipment and that there are two separate areas for cardio. When I work out, I always see staff cleaning the equipment and keeping the area looking nice and welcoming. Would love to see additional shower/changing rooms in the family locker room as there is almost always a line. read more

The facility is OK but I was put off by how the customer service responded to my friend's (a member since 2000) negative experience. She has been harrassed by one of the other female patrons three times in the past few months (twice in front of her daughter). This patron appears to be either racist or some kind of obsessive nut. OK, unfortunate and somewhat dismaying in this day and age - but sometimes you run into people like this. The problem is with the club and their response. Even though she has complained twice, in-person (including with the GM, Dennis Bachman), she has received nothing but a condescending response. No action, no follow-through. The worst part being that this other patron felt free to harass her again just last night. I personally experienced the blow-off she received by the manager on-duty at the time when she related the incident and asked for something to be done. Is it possible that the club personnel are actively trying to discourage diversity at this facility? I note a few of the other low ratings on this site and reading the patrons comments, I see, perhaps, some evidence of this. I'm your average white guy and have never suffered discrimination in this country. My eyes are opening, however, how it creeps into our lives - even in an alledgedly progressive place like Cherry Creek. I strongly recommend people of good conscious to either avoid CCAC or to challenge management directly on their attitude towards diversity and mention that you have read a number of reviews that suggest that it's far from what it needs to be. I suggest to the owner and management of CACC that they better get their act together quickly or prepare to defend investigation by DORA. read more

I have been a member with Cherry Creek Athletic Club for 2 years with my wife and 15 month old daughter and we love the facility. We especially love it in the Summer for the pool. They have an amazing pool for toddlers and babies. They also have a great kid's club which is a great additional feature. The staff at the kid's club is attentative and we never have a problem getting our daughter in. read more

I was a loyal member of CCAC for over 10 years. My friends gradually left to join other clubs but I stayed. The clientele is on the older side but that never bothered me. In fact it gave me motivation b/c they are all in great shape! The facility itself is very nice. Clean and has all you need. It is a huge bonus that it has an outdoor and indoor pool. I recently left, however, over a billing issue that was completely mishandled in my opinion. I have come to learn that several of my friends also left b/c of billing issues. I added my two children to my account for just the summer so they could use the pool. I specifically told the person at the Kids Corner desk that I only wanted it for two months. I assumed they made note of that in their computer but they clearly did not...and I paid for it. They used to have an area on the form for the termination date but they took it off. I seriously question why they did this. I hate to think it is to make more money from people like me but it sure seems that way. They said it was for the people who didn't want to terminate their kids' membership so that they could take swim lessons throughout the year. If that were the case, then those people could leave the termination date blank. Anyway, I brought this to their attention and they were awful about it. "We don't budge from our policies, etc. etc." It amazes me that they don't consider my loyalty as a member for more than 10 years more important than refunding my money for absolutely no services rendered. I was happy to pay for the months that my kids used the pool. But after clearly stating that I only wanted to sign my kids up for two months, I felt that I deserved a refund for the months that were not used. It wasn't about the money for me. I left b/c of principle. I can't be part of a gym that treats it's members this way. I even tried to discuss this with Janet the General Manager but no one would allow me to speak with her. I think there is a BIG discrepancy between the friendly staff that you see regularly and the business side of things. Extremely disappointing. I am glad that I am no longer supporting this gym. I just joined TruFit in Cherry Creek and I am very happy, especially since it is 1/3 of the price. read more

This is a nice, older facility, clean, with lots of classes and a beautiful heated outdoor pool (hard to get into on weekends in the summer) and indoor pool is ok but short, not as good as a number of the Denver Recreational Pools that are hugely cheaper. I also burned my lips in the stream room, and had to go to the dermatologist, and I feel the carpet in the women's dressing room should have been replaced a long time ago. But my real beef is with CAC's unforgiving business policies. For example, they charge you $50 per month to put a membership on hold when you are out of town. (By contrast the branch of the Colorado Athletic Club is $15 per month) and CAC has all sorts of rules about how long in advance you need to let them know and how you and when you have to inform them to come back etc. All right, understandable, except for the amount of the fee. However, your contract states that if you want to end your contract you go, automatically, to a month-to-month fee basis, and that you must come in 30 days in advance to cancel without paying that fee. In other words, you keep paying for a month even after your contract ends and you think you're outta there.. I came in 13 days past the deadline and was still charged the fee, although the business manager did reduce it $15 by taking my partner off the membership. I was told, by her, and the big cheese in the business office that I was apparently expected to know that my contract, signed 17 months before, advised me of this fee and policy. All in all I paid about $200-$300 in fees for NOT being there every year. The Colorado Athletic Club, a much newer branch,, is only $11 more per month than this place, is much closer to where I live, and has a large, terrific restaurant, a saline pool, and classes that seem a bit less gimmicky.. Don't sign on to Cherry Creek without investigating other facilities and comparing prices and the small print in the contract you sign. CAC will hold you to every letter and when you protest, those mechanical smiles disappear. To add insult to injury, paying $35 for nothing, I was told that my guest pass had expired. They are real penny pinchers here. read more
