I love this lifetime! It's super close to my house and I love taking yoga and barre classes throughout the week. I feel like they are offered at good times and parking is typically pretty easy to find as well. All the front desk staff are very nice too and the instructors are great as well and always open to help with any questions. I wish they had a few more classes around 7 pm because it's great going after work since rush hour pushes the time I get home quite a bit. read more

The Plymouth Life Time location is among my favorite of the clubs in Minnesota. The layout and equipment is similar to all of the other clubs with this particular location featuring a large indoor lap pool, outdoor leisure pool, large shared hot tub, and massive shared sauna. There is also a Life Cafe, Salon, and Chiropractor on site. The club is always clean and well kept. Towels are always fully stocked. Amenities such as razors, shaving cream, ear swabs, shampoo, body wash are always plentiful. Never seems to be any broken equipment and if something does break it is fixed quickly. I love the new lockers that no longer require a key card to lock them. With digital membership cards on cell phones now it makes it super simple to check and get a locker without having to worry about having a membership card. read more

My family and I have always had problems with this gym. We've all been members for roughly 7 years and there is rarely a friendly face at the front desk. We tried to bring a guest in today after the unlimited guest passes for the holidays and they consider those passes as one pass and one guest cannot use two passes within the span of 60 days. For a membership of $150 + that is absolutely absurd. This was our last straw and we are done!! I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone unless you're in favor of being screwed over time and time again. read more

While I have memberships to several gyms and different facilities, I always choose to come to LifeTime in Plymouth. The facilities are always extremely clean and well staffed. I love the selections of classes throughout the entire week - multiple options for each depending on the day. I have been really enjoying Tiffany B.'s classes - she is so kind and always makes sure to acknowledge my presence in her classes on a weekly basis. No complaints here! Keep a VERY watchful eye on your monthly payments!!!!!!!!!! I am extremely upset that Life Time had been secretly increasing my monthly bill with zero consent or communication. I didn't notice it right away because I have a separate card that is for bills. I ended up disputing the charges, to which they at least admitted to my credit card company about their slimy practices and I was given my money back. If i did not sign a new contract or give my consent then this is stealing money and unethical. I tried to find any email or phone call in any attempt to even ASK about charging me more and there was nothing. I would not have agreed but they do this to their members so make sure to keep track. When I spoke to the manager Susan about this she had nothing to say about why they did not ASK for my consent and all she said was that they sent an email "informing me" which was untrue. Even if that is the case I did NOT give my consent. She was all too happy that after I disputed the sneaky charges to then revoke my membership and she put a note on my account to make sure I pay the highest rate possible if I ever return. I guess it's the little things she can control that keep her going. Not only this but while I was a member I left my boots in the locker room and headed out of town, suddenly realizing I left them, I called the gym and they told me they wouldn't even look in the gym because it's not their responsibility. I used to work in hotels, restaurants, Disney World, and even if it's not a company's "responsibility" for lost items I've never just turned someone away and didn't even bother looking for the item. In the end my boots were stolen when I returned, surprise surprise. I wonder if it was the employees themselves. I was a member for 6 years and had been a member years ago too. This club has every machine imaginable, great group fitness classes, nice outdoor and indoor pools, rock climbing wall, basketball and racquetball courts, and a nice outdoor trail right outside the club too! The yoga classes are fantastic! The outdoor pool in the summer is very popular and serene; the water slides are fun too! Sometimes it's hard to find a lounge chair though. I have been a member since high school. Now that I'm paying for my own membership, I still think it's worth it. I come here at least 8 times a month since I receive $20 off my membership thru my health insurance. I usually get the machines that I want even though I go during their busier hours between 6 - 8 PM. Once in a while it can get a little crowded but it's not too bad for the most part. Sat. mornings can get really busy which makes it hard to find parking. The locker rooms are nice and big. Overall the facility is nice and kept up nicely. I recommend this club to anyone who is looking for a nice health club to join. read more

The fitness floor has been reduced by 30% for personal training space that is not included in the membership they costs more than $100 a month. The treadmills are now only 6 inches apart to make room for the space we aren't allowed to be in. The pool was closed all winter and spring . The trainers can feel predatory. They approach you mid workout and ask you to take your headphones out to talk to you about why you are there and if you need $100/ hr training. I'm here. Leave me alone. read more

i requested cancellation of my membership during COVId in writing and followed all required steps for cancellation . That was in July 2020. I was told in email that my membership will end July 31st 2020, however I just found out that I was deducted the membership fees , which increased to $100 for the last 3 years. No one told me when i joined that this is actually a community center. I thought I was joining an exclusive high end health club for members only, but this facility not only offers discount memberships to city residents, but also daily passes and even low income family vouchers. If thats the way they want to run their club, fine, but they should advise members. Prospective members should really be advised that pool availability is extremely limited due to not only their own swim team use, this pool is rented out year round to the local school swim teams and synchronized swim teams. Its literally mobbed with kids and parents afterschool, early evening and weekends, the locker rooms are jammed with unsupervised children,, lines for showers, and the hot tubs are "kiddie pools" after practice is done despite this being clearly posted as against the rules. Lifeguards pretty much ignore many safety rules in favor of chatting amongst themselves, I have brought this to management attention to no avail. The facilities are nice, but get dirty faster than they are cleaned with all the crowds. During peak hours and even some off peak, fitness classes are overcrowded, yoga is practically in need of a "take a number" before class system. Locker rooms are dirty and overcrowded. No way would i recommend this club to anyone, unless of course they like working out in an overcrowded messy, noisy and at times unsafe environment. Im not impressed with staff, they are either only interested in what they can sell you or you are invisible to them. Just ugh. The dude that signed us up would be better suited to used car sales, way too much pressure, actually told me that if I didnt sign up that day "I see you doing nothing" as if he was convinced I'd just blow fitness off and never set foot in another health club. He almost convinced me to go somewhere else, and now im not so sure I shouldnt have. With all their public subsidizing from swim teams and the city, this club's rates should be lower than the average gold club membership for non resident members, but its not. This place is super crowded 24*7*365. Its more of a community center than a Gym. The cardio part of the gym is ok, but the weights part of it is really bad. I see dads teaching their kids how to lift weights though there is a sign that clearly says "only 18 and above". Then there are groups of middle aged men in their 40s who come in groups and occupy the benches and weights forever. I have never been able to find 20 lb dumbbells even at 10 PM in the night-thats how crowded this place is. The showers are bad, the locker room is super dirty and don't even get me started on the rest rooms. The lap pool is busy till 9 PM, you'd be lucky if you get the lap pool at 10 PM. I have tried some of the weight loss classes and found them quite boring and demotivating. Also, these classes happen in the super crowded areas of the gym. If I could advice, I'd say try boutique fitness clubs, there are many in the down town and nearby areas like Maple Grove. They have much better instructors, classes and crowds. If lap pool is what you want, I know Foss swim has unlimited access to lap pool at $15 per month. read more

It seems way nicer from the parking lot than it is on the inside. It's a gold-level gym (the basic level) but they have 3 pools (indoor lap pool, indoor fun pool, outdoor fun pool) so I trekked up to Plymouth to get my swim on. The outdoor pool was teeming with kids. I don't know why I didn't think there would be kids, but I guess since I never see kids on the floor of the gym, I just didn't expect to see them anywhere. After finally finding a child-free patch of water to jump into, I quickly climbed out and headed for the indoor pool b/c other than treading water in place, there was no room in the pool for much else. Inside, I opted for the lap pool and did laps (that makes me sound way more athletic than I am. I did 2 laps. 2. Swimming is really hard.) The locker room was deeeesgusting. Clumps of wet hair everywhere and the toilet looked like it belonged at the CC Club about 2AM on a Saturday. Blech. The weight section seemed bigger than at other gold gyms with the standard cardio equipment on the other side. Nutshell: it's not one of the nicer LIfetimes out there. I have been working out at the Plymouth LTF off and on since it opened in 1997. Back in 1997 when this club opened, I was a resident of Plymouth and I did receive a resident's discount that I remember as being meaningful / significant and that this was due to the city of Plymouth having subsidized part of the capital expense of building the club for dual use as a community center. The resident's discount lasted for about a year and was then discontinued. I cannot remember if this was due to breach of contract on LTF's part with or just poor negotiating on behalf of the city of Plymouth. Back then, LTF was in the business of wheeling and dealing capital expense money to build out new clubs in several states. They were so hungry for capital expense money that in the year 2000, they actually imposed TWO membership rate increases on the standard Heritage membership in the same year! This prompted me to buy a Founders membership off of someone in 2001 to avoid future rate hikes. Regardless, I see that in 2016 there are discounts being offered again to the residents of Plymouth. To those of you who are non-residents who joined the club and are having a slow burn meltdown about the resident's discount... I would not be too concerned. I am sure without looking into it that their discount is insignificant and no different than the other petty discounts that LTF hands out as a hook to sign up new members who will likely not come in regularly anyway. Also, you can get a better discount from your healthcare provider if you have healthcare reimbursement you check in the required times per month. As an example - my plan pays $20 a month if I check in 12 times in one month. As of today, here are the pros and cons that I can see in this club: Pros: LTF treats this club as an up and coming, high interest club. Compare the furnishings and equipment at Plymouth LTF to Maple Grove LTF and you will quickly see what I mean (other than the decrepit looking pavement in the parking lot, Plymouth LTF is FAR superior to Maple Grove LTF in every aspect). Also, the location is great! And the pools are outstanding - especially the outdoor pool. Additionally, the club was built from the ground up as a Lifetime Fitness (vs. acquired from Northwest Swim & Fitness) which is very important when it comes to things like locker room space and windows. And if you want a great workout and you do not want to pay for a personal trainer or pay for a boot camp class - try to get into one of the free group fitness classes taught be Clark (the other training staff at Plymouth LTF attend his classes themselves; hint hint). As of the summer of 2016, Plymouth Lifetime Fitness is completely rehabbing their parking lot... nice! Lastly, this club always has the latest and best of everything LTF has to offer. Cons: The design of the entry foyer sucks... for aesthetics, you have to step down upon entry, check in, then climb back upstairs to work out. I know it is a health club after all so the extra stair climbing is built in exercise - its just annoying to me. The sales staff (as one other Yelp reviewer correctly pointed out) are on par with used car salesmen... at best. I am sure that if they made a TruCoat for gym memberships that Jerry Lundergard from the movie "Fargo" would be moonlighting by selling memberships at the Plymouth LTF club on Sundays. Also, the club can get over crowded during the popular classes and the concept of a "slow time" at this club is really limited - maybe weekday late mornings - maybe. Regarding the indoor spas, both are located next to the kids graduated entrance to the main indoor pool which means more often than not both the general use spa and the designated "12 and over" spa both get taken over and turned into "kiddie pools" which is a huge turnoff for me to consider using them... especially given the staff never* takes corrective action on the use of the "12 and over" spa by small children (I guess their parents think the "12" is months and not years). I sometimes want to put up an add on sign in front of the "12 and over" spa that reads, "The OOL: There is no P in it and that is how it better stay!" Summary: Plymouth LTF is a busy club that has a lot to offer you! read more

PROS: Like all Life Time gyms, its got TV's in every corner and all the equipment a gym rat can dream of. This location also has an indoor/outdoor pool and mountain climbing wall. Highly recommend trying the Warrior Sculpt classes with Jesse or Patti. 1-hour, 90 degree room of yoga, sculpting and cardio. CONS: Customer Service is inconsistent. Some of the staff members are fantastic, others not so much. PARKING: Plenty of parking. I'm one of those guys though that ironically tries to find the closest parking spot to the door so I don't have to walk that far, despite the fact that I'm heading into a gym to workout...I'm working on it. I almost hate to write this review because the outdoor pool is such a hidden gem. Open from 8 am to 8pm during the summer it's a great place to cool off or catch some rays ! Super clean pool deck, attentive & nice lifeguards. No need to bring your own towels. Two rows of loungers allow for a pretty peaceful experience if you sit in the back row (row farthest from the pool). Can order food from the cafe via your mobile & they deliver to the pool. Added bonus, want to go to the conference at Hilde Park but can't afford tickets. Go hang out at the lifetime pool you can hear the concert for free till 8 pm. The facility is very nice however the customer service is so disrespectful. My friend and i simply needed to use their restroom. We both have memberships but he wouldn't let us through. My friend in whom i went with was deaf, and he was speaking so quietly to her so she couldn't hear him. I had to step in and tell him that she is deaf and he didn't believe us. He wouldn't let me spell her last name for her because she couldn't hear what he was asking for her to do. So he finally let us go to the restroom, but it was very rude. The STRIKE! Powered by Everlast kickboxing class is the best group fitness class I've taken. It is a combination of cardio kickboxing and body-bar workouts for an intense hour long class. The instructor, Tiffany, is amazing! She has incredible energy and does a wonderful job motivating you after 40 minutes when you feel like you might throw up and want to quit! This is a review for Plymouth lifetime. So I've always loved working out at lifetime clubs--I have on and off my whole life (the off period were when I lived out of state or not close to a lifetime). I've always been amazed at the high quality of instructors, the trainers, the staff from the people at the front desk to the maintenance staff, the clean, pleasant facilities, I could go on and on. Now that I have a thirteen-year-old, I also want to comment on how amazing their childcare set up is. Thinking about working out here but worried about leaving your little one? Especially if you're a stay at home parent, or your child is only used to a couple of caregivers (example my daughter only has 2 "babysitters" for the most part)--Don't worry! The childcare staff will help you through it. I was extremely anxious in the beginning, and I only came sporadically (about once a week). When I did come, my 10 month old daughter just cried hysterically every time, and then I picked her up after about 15 minutes of crying (which was my choice). The providers gently encouraged me to come more frequently, as in ideally every day for a little bit, so as to help her get used to it. I just found myself dreading going because, to make a somewhat clichéd analogy to working out, I didn't want to go through the proverbial pain to see a potential gain. I just kept telling myself it would never work for my kid though, so I put my membership back on hold. However, because I still had 30 days, as you have to give 30 days-notice, Shawn urged me to at least give it a shot since I'd paid for that period. He did so in such a gentle, non-judgmental, encouraging way. Shawn, like everyone else at Lifetime, including Susan, was so encouraging of us to just keep trying, but was also understanding if I felt it wasn't working. So, I decided to recommit to trying, and take the providers advice of going a couple of days in a row. After only 2 days of going in a row, especially thanks to Courtney and Emma, my daughter lasted for nearly two hours!! I couldn't believe it. Now we've gone on and off, at least a couple of times a week for the 1.5 months, and it's working for us! I try not to leave her for longer than about 1.5 hours, since she's still pretty young, though if she's doing well it's SO exciting to have time off. I can't tell you how many times I've peeked in, and I can tell the providers are doing the best they can to make my child feel comfortable. Of course, I realize they can't be tending to just my child since there are plenty of other children there, but I really do think they do a very good job with both reassuring the kids AND the parents. I also have really appreciated that they've put up with my wanting to check in a bunch, and have really essentially held my hand through this process. To be honest, I still am an anxious Mom--though my anxiety has nothing to do with the quality of care and everything to do with just hoping my child isn't having an off day, especially as she's still getting used to things) to I thought about naming additional names, but there are at least 10 people I'd put down, and I I would then definitely be leaving people out, so I'm not going to put additional names down, but please know I am grateful for each and every provider!!!!! Overall, I want to express my thanks to the AMAZING staff at kid's academy/kid's play area at Plymouth Lifetime!!! If you're nervous about joining Lifetime or rejoining because of having had a kid/kids, you should totally do it!!! read more

Pro: This is a good gym, with everything you could want. Open 24/7, with great service. I like the cables, free weights, and group classes. Plenty of cardio machines, one indoor pool is olympic size. Then there is the outdoor leisure pool, along with the steam room and sauna. Basketball courts, racquetball courts, and a climbing wall. They made me pay for the next 30 days even though I was physically unable to work out and had a note from my doctor. Come the new year I see a charge on my card from Lifetime. I call and find out that they'd only temporarily paused my membership ship and started charging me again!! When I called the service rep tried to turn it around on me and defend the charge. I love coming to this location particularly for the pools. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor pool options. The outdoor pool always has plenty of open lounge chairs and the pool is never overly packed. There's a cafe both inside and outdoors near the pool area. In terms of the gym, very nice gym. Lots of equipment and space. However, I do find that during the weekday this place gets really packed and sometimes it's hard to find the equipment you need. I've been coming to the Life Time Fitness Plymouth MN location for about a year now whenever I'm up here for work. I've belonged to a number of gyms in my lifetime, and though I am on a pay-as-I-go basis with this location, it is possibly the nicest and most well-kept gym I've frequented. First off, the facility is enormous - huge swimming pools, salon, quick service restaurant, treadmills and ellipticals as far as the eye can see (and they're all in service and very well maintained!) - and the staff does a great job of keeping the place meticulously clean. The men's locker room is pristine and loaded with amenities. The customer service is consistently good, but one person in particular stands out - Trevin W., one of the account managers, is particularly kind, outgoing, and always willing to go the extra mile. All in all, the Plymouth Life Time Fitness is a club I would highly recommend. read more

Where do I start? I have nothing to positive to say about this gym. Terrible management, no one ever has answers to any questions and they give you this dumb look. Employees are too busy talking with each other to take care of members. If we have a question, there is no need to roll your eyes at us. Everyone is on their phones, the locker rooms are disgusting (always urine on the seats and the toilets have feces in them always). No toilet paper at times. A popular machine broke and was out of commission for a week. Also another broke, now it's just missing. It's pathetic when personal trainers are training a client or themselves and cannot even put the weights away. Absolute thumbs down. I would rather take my money somewhere else. read more

Beautiful pool complex, unbelievably horrible hygiene management. I am a regular lap swimmer. Very few members shower before using spas or pools. Street shoes are allowed, pretty much encouraged to be worn on the pool deck. Shortcut path to the locker room allows members wearing muddy boots to walk on the pool deck. Management regularly walks prospective members through the pool area with everyone wearing street shoes. Sweaty members walk from the toilet to the pool area without taking a shower! All this dirt ends up in the water and is very noticeable on the bottom of the pool. I managed a very high end club pool in Chicago with celebrities and uber rich clients. I realize that it's not easy to enforce hygiene but I found out that a "culture" can be developed with a little effort that becomes somewhat self managed, and highly appreciated by patrons once you are over the implementation hump. Simple practices: - Close the shortcut door that allows people to enter the locker rooms with street shoes. If a tour is necessary, have employee and guest wear disposable "booties" like a contractor would wear in your home. They will appreciate the cleanliness as they make the decision whether to join. - Station a lifeguard or employee outside the locker room entrances and literally ask members that are "dry" if they mind returning and taking a shower. This has to be for EVERYONE - parents, kids, muscle men, celebrities, etc. Stress that LTF values hygiene. This sounds like it might be cost prohibitive. It's not. You can have a towel folding employee rotate into this role. Pool employees will actually have to do less cleaning of pool rings and floors. Also ask sauna users to shower (after sweating!) before entering spa. I'll refrain from explaining why... - Summer outdoor pool. I realize this isn't easy. Some people likely don't even go in the water. Still, a cordoned off path in front of the bleachers and around the lap pool would be helpful. Then, encourage members to shower with signage. Summer mud isn't as bad as winter slush but the personal hygiene concerns remain. - Supplement the efforts above with a quality communications plan. Signage, flyers and emails should be used to stress how LTF values hygienic use of their facilities for the safety of members! Simple flyers need to be posted in the locker rooms and pool area stressing that all pool users are required to take a nude, soapy shower. Yes, initial months will take some effort. In my experience, after six months of existing members getting used to it and new members expecting this culture, you will see a huge change. Only the odd person will have to be reminded and I guarantee your cleaning effort will be dramatically reduced. This is a beautiful gym! They seem to be consistently working on the facility to keep it in top shape, too. Very nice locker rooms and ample equipment. Sometimes there seems to be a shortage of floor space to do your own mat workouts because it is set up to have small floor areas all around the gym rather than one large one like some other gyms. The group fitness classes are what really make this place shine, so definitely check them out! The hot yoga classes and Warrior Sculpt with Patty K are especially fabulous. read more
