By far my favorite gym right now due to all of the amenities, cleanliness, and not overly crowded. Very clean all around. The staff is very nice, including in the cafe. The only downside is they just don't have the newest & greatest equipment. They are lacking in the free weight department. The dumbell area is small & overcrowded. Xsport has more equipment, but I'll take the positives of having it clean with a nice sauna and whirlpool at the moment. read more

Great Gym! The front desk staff always so friendly. The locker rooms are always clean, fully stocked with razors/cotton/swabs/lotion/deodorant/lotion/shaving cream etc. Steam room and hot tub in the women's locker room. Indoor and outdoor pool with a sauna next to indoor pool. Another hot Tub outdoors and next to the pool. Love this place:). Yes a bit pricey but worth it! The classes I've tried give you a great workout. Spin classes are the best, and strike. Kim instructs both and she is great:). Personal training is awesome. My husband sees Jessica is she truly has helped him and cares! He's lost 30 pounds and is feeling so great thanks to Jessica:). She pushes him to the limit which is great bc that's what we are paying for to see results! Overall great facility. The service here sucks. My kids take a swimming class and teachers and the management is so bad. My father in low take them too the class and he does not speak English and i can't come because i have a newborn baby. The teachers never progress the students to the next level. My kids were in the same level for whole summer and they never progressed the student level. I thought my kids were not learning but they were doing way higher level stuffs already. When i try to call, they never answer and i emailed them so may times, no response. I even came with my baby to request my kids evaluation couple times but they say i am busy and will call you later and no calls or email. If they have many customer, why do not hire more people and making the service so bad. The more customers means more money and resource but service getting worse. I have to go again with baby to request it again. Also sometimes they loose things and when i ask to look in the lost and found box, they do not let you see it. They will check it for you but never they returned stuff to the people. The front desk people go inside and pretend to look for you and they say we do not have it. The service here is so bad. They just know how to get more money from you. The fitness trainers are very good at sign you up for the expensive training but not good as cost. I am so disappointed with the service for the cost. This facility has it all, having been a previous employee some time ago and now a member I've experienced Lifetime Athletic from both perspectives. I originally joined the Lifetime family sometime in 2008 and have never looked back. This facility will fill ever need that you may have regardless of where you're working out alone or are coming in with your kids. This particular location has been recently built as well, so the equipment and amenities are all brand new. And as a former employee I can attest that the place is kept immaculate at most times of the day. The staff are very friendly, attentive and polite. The weight-room is the biggest one I've seen out of all the athletic facilities that I've tried in the area. There are tons of cardio machines of all types, equipment for calisthenics, yoga studio, pilates studio, stretch area and lots of free weights. It does get a bit busy during the typical 5pm-6pm rush hour, however, you can still manage to grab a machine, or weights and do your workout. I tend to go later in the evening when the place is practically empty, around 8pm-9pm. Upstairs are 2 full sized basketball courts along with a turf field where I often find myself doing sprints and just messing around with a soccer ball. You should be mindful to read the activities schedule though, as there are various sporting events, kids parties, etc... occurring that tend to end up on the turf field at times. There's a fairly large indoor and outdoor pool as well, and during the summer they setup a slide. There is also a salon located in the facility, but I cannot comment on it as I've never tried their services. I feel like I could talk about this place for hours, but basically, in my opinion, this is the best athletic facility in the Northshore area. I was blocked from using the hair salon facilities, being told "it was outside my price range", being asked "what are you doing here", and being outright ignored multiple times. As other reviews have mentioned, this is a great facility. Lots of machines, a lot of classes, nice changing rooms. While the price is steep, when I factored the cost of classes and childcare into the monthly price of joining my local park district LTF actually comes out cheaper. The 'LTBucks' they gave me upon joining actually covered 8 months of swimming classes for my son too. My only two issues are a) the family changing rooms - its so annoying when the 6 changing rooms in there are all taken by single members who just didn't want to use the regular changing area, and this happens a lot, and b) the family swim hours need to be extended, mornings would be great. Be aware that weekend yoga classes are usually full, I've been turned away more than once despite arriving early. The parking lot is also a disaster before 10am. read more

They don't want people of color in the gym. I owned a gym so I can see every thing that go's on with staff and management. From the first time I joined Lifetime, I over heard people talking about racism. It was a man of color and I also heard how they watched where he parked. He was a nice man, we talked about eating the right food. I knew right away that he was not welcomed in this gym. I always stay positive and upbeat. All of a sudden the staff started acting weird. I was followed around and watched by management and workers. This place is the most racist place with many hidden agendas. Not many people of color you will find at this place, and I know why. Many of them turn on you for no reason when you are black. I reported this to ABC channel 7. Maybe corporate will step in to investigate the staff. They need to hire more African American managers, because someone's going to sue. They will make up lies to criminalize people of color. This is old school racism, and they stick together no matter if they are in the wrong. I do not recommend for anyone of color. I pray this foolishness will be stopped. read more

If workouts are part of your routine and not just something you commit to for a couple of months after your New Year's resolution, then this is the place for you. It has everything you need for your fitness needs all year long. The group fitness classes are great. I myself work out at 5 am nearly every day and the place is hoppin' even at that time. Each of the 5:30 a.m. spin class on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays are phenomenal. My newest favorite is 50/50 class with Stacy. The lap pool will keep your heart beating and after your workout, you can reward yourself with some time in the sauna and the jacuzzi - either the one conveniently located in the locker rooms or the bigger ones by the pool. In the summer, I take my girls to the pool and it is a spectacular experience. The place does a great job keeping the place clean and well-maintained. I have also had my kid's birthday party here and they did a great job with it. So yeah- I've tried just about every aspect of this place and I have no complaints. I was a LTF member at Schamburg for a long time and when this one at Vernon Hills opened, I was there to sign up as soon as they opened their doors! read more

Would give negative stars if I could. Wanted to cancel membership during Covid and called them about their policy. Wanted to cancel right then but they said, "Oh because of Covid you can cancel anytime without a penalty." So of course when I tried to cancel a few months later they said I had to pay for the present and the next month even though I hadn't gone in months. Been going here since 2015 and I love this place. Months into the COVID pandemic have been great here as well, they keep the place clean and I constantly see employees wiping down equipment and enforcing mask rules. I have seen a few negative reviews on this gym about this lifetime not enforcing COVID policies and this gym being like a "frat house". This isn't true and my guess is those negative reviews are from older folks that like to complain. I haven't seen anybody not wear a mask and the gym has appropriate markings to measure social distancing. 4.5 stars. For the suburbs it's a pricey ask. However I find myself more inclined to go when I am forking out the cash every month. There's a gym here where I live now and I have't used it as much as I should have. The parking lot is just about big enough to cope with the busy times to not have to worry. Putting the cost aside, you either join or you don't. The facilities are top notch. Plenty of cardio machines, enough for you to use a different one a day for months I'd say! lol The weight machines are also in good shape and there's enough of these as well to ensure you can find the exact one you are looking for without having to wait. We had classes here to help us with our shedding for the wedding and the instructor was great. Pushed us along enough to help us achieve our goals. Other facilities we used were the swimming pools and hot tub. Nice swim lanes and great for kids. We were able to sign in some guests with kids and they appeared to have an excellent time. Nothing beats the joy of seeing happy little kids, they don't have an agenda! We then moved with no Lifetime's anywhere close. We were able to cancel without any issue. The only thing (-0.5 star) was that they kept trying to charge for the monthly fitness class but upon questioning the management took care of it quickly, but the same thing happened the following month....which was also taken care of. Beautiful facility, horrible customer experience. When I was "on boarded" I received endless calls to upgrade my membership and buy things but was never set up with a login for the app or a pin. I emailed 2 times to get the app set up with no response. I called multiple times to speak with someone and received an endless automated circle asking for my member id and a pin which I was never set up with only to find out weekend hours for children are incredibly limited so a family membership is not a good value and it is even harder to get through via phone to make an appointment to have a baby watched. This is a nice gym. love the gym, hate the entitlement. it is an expensive club which i am MORE than happy to pay for the amenities and not having to fight for equipment. my issue is that this location especially seems to be littered with unattended children. one group of them was in street clothes (birkenstock sandals) staring at those working out and moving from machine to machine while one of them had a gash on his knee that was DRIPPING blood. where are your parents and where is the employee to say something. Stay clear from this place. Like many others mentioned they did not enforce the mask policy and if the cdc walked in this place would be fined for their violations. I even repeatedly saw one of their own employees wearing his mask with his nose out walking around the floor. Like many others mentioned this is like a frat house, high schoolers congregating in groups blocking equipment but not using it. Squat racks taken for HOURS by high schoolers sitting down in squat rack area talking. Specifically there is a high school girl and guy who rub up on each other everyday near the squat rack area between 5-7pm, making myself and many others in the gym uncomfortable . Advice to lifetime : get someone up on that floor monitoring the weight room (how you don't have this already is baffling) enforce mask policy, prevent people from hogging equipment specifically squat racks. If no changes, we are switching gyms and I suspect many others will who are serious about working out. I have been to many other gyms in the area and this is by far the worst of them all. read more

I'm obviously calling to get a membership, this is supposed to be a high end gym, one would expect good customer service or in the least customer service. I had a lot of questions about membership, fees etc, the woman that answered the phone would not even give me her name. So I signed up at X Sport. ***Beware of Unethical Business practices in this location*** I completely agree with all the reviews that tell how clean this place is. I won't list the pros as it is all listed already by other reviewers. There is a huge con about this place which could be a deal breaker for many of you. I would like to detail those. 1. You will be asked to electronically sign a lot of documents when you first sign up. A lot of us won't read through everything and will expect the rep to explain us the terms that are very important. In this place, the reps will not tell you anything. An important term that I came to know the hard way is that you will have to give them a month's notice before quitting (which is a full 92 dollars). 2. Their aquatic department follows unethical business practices. I signed up for swimming lessons using the LT bucks. I specifically mentioned the rep in aquatic dept that I don't want to continue the classes once my LT bucks are over. They provided me some paper forms. I filled my details and signed those. There is a section which says that they will charge your credit card when the LT bucks are over. The section also had 2 other fields for entering the amount and start date. I didn't sign the section initially but the rep asked me to sign the section. She told me that it is for giving me approval to use my LT bucks. So, I left the amount / date fields blank and signed the section. After a month, I went and requested them to cancel my subscription for swimming lessons. They told me that it requires a month's notice. They also told me that my LT bucks will be over anyway by the next month and so the subscription will automatically be cancelled. But it didn't happen that way. I was charged on my credit card for swimming lessons for 3rd and 4th month. I was shocked seeing this in my credit card bill. I tried contacting their aquatic dept over phone but no one would respond. I contacted their main billing dept but they wouldn't have control over other department's charges!! Left with no other option, I disputed the charge with my bank. Now, Lifetime sends me the papers that I originally signed. I see that the aquatic dept has filled the amount/date fields in the controversial section on their own and are submitting it as a proof against my dispute. This is totally unethical for any business. I wouldn't recommend this center for anyone. They might have so many good things but in the end they are only eying to get as much money from you as possible (even unethically)!!! read more

Lifetime Fitness Vernon Hills.... It's absolutely stunning. It's brand-spanking new. It's so conveniently located for those of us who live/work up north. It's so g**d*** inacessable I could scream. I've been a Lifetime member for 6 years, and I love the Schaumburg club. However, as a north/northwest suburban worker who will be commuting from the city in a handful of months, I've been trying to plan ahead. The "Hallelujah" chorus went off in my head when I saw the Vernon Hills club would be opening right along my future commute and I got all excited. I decided to try it out, so I called the place and was told by one of their employees it would open at 5:00 a.m. on the 26th of September. So I threw on my gym gear and headed out that way bright and early. I stepped inside and marvelled at the gleaming marble/wood surrounding me, but then quickly noticed no one was there but custodians. The nice custodians looked around for me, then told me no one was there. Apparently it opened on the 27th and Little Miss Calendar Malfunction I'd talked to earlier had messed up. I changed for work in a gas station bathroom. Lovely. I was willing to give the place a chance for redemption, though, since it was so blasted pretty, and this time went to check online when it opened etc. Well, that's when I noticed that it is something called an "Onyx" club. I had no idea what that was, so I delved into it further on Lifetime's site, and found that sometime recently, they've changed their membership into having "levels". Different levels get to use different clubs. I'm a gold member, which means I can't use platinum (cough...Skokie...cough...) or onyx clubs. Apparently I'm not paying enough. I'm kind of ticked. When I joined up, one of the perks of joining was being able to use the other clubs in the Chicagoland area. Now that they've got these "levels", it rules out the two most convenient clubs for my future daily use, and will probably cost them my membership. Since when did we get so exclusive, Lifetime? As for Vernon Hills's club, enjoy it, oh wealthy ones....As for me, I'll always view this club how I look at cologne ad models - it's gorgeous and nice-smelling, but most unfortunately unatainable for me now and forever. I can't give it any more stars, since I'll never be allowed inside the lobby. I admit it, I am 100% sour grapes about this one. read more

Usually large health clubs can be intimidating to go to for me, but not this one! Everyone there is so nice and makes me feel at home when I check in. The front desk staff so friendly and inviting as well as the people at the others areas too in the front are always so kind ad smiling. Also, I always see the staff in the locker rooms bustling to keep up with the towels and do other things as well to make sure its clean for us! I am glad I spent the extra money to go here. The actual workout facilities for this Lifetime are nice. The problems lie with just about everything else. The women's locker room is not kept up well, and sometimes downright disgusting. No towels on the shelves, mounds of used towels in the bins, garbages overflowing, no toilet paper, and hair all over the sinks and showers. The website is difficult to use, but not impossible. The cafe staff is variable - sometimes very helpful and sometimes making you feel as though you are imposing on them. And service from the 1-800 number is non-existent. Try calling and see if you are ever able to actually speak to someone. I have never been able to. And the best part is, they are now charging a $10 service fee any time you make a change to your account. I would like to charge them $10 each time their locker rooms are dirty or when I spend more than 10 minutes on hold. They are turning into a Bally's and that's not what I signed up for. read more

If you'd rather do your own workout, you have everything you ever need to accomplish your personal goals. The Kids Academy is amazing. The staff truly cares and keeps your kids engaged, active and safe while you grab a workout or enjoy a break. The Kids' classes are well run and organized. My kids love it and are sad when it's time to go. It's a fun experience for the whole family. Not only is this a wonderful environment to exercise, it is a great place to meet people of like mind and develop good friendships. This place is not only my gym, its my community!!!!! read more

Monthly membership is steep but it is worth every penny. You get what you pay for if you go regularly and take advantage of what Lifetime has to offer. (This review is very long) Huge parking lot but it gets crowded around 10am with mini vans and SUVs. And then again around 5pm with people coming from work and high school kids. Never personally had to fight for a parking spot because they were all taken. I've heard thats how it gets at the Schaumburg location around 5pm. (Best time to go is early in the morning or very late at night... you pretty much have the whole facility to yourself) First floor- Front desk - very welcoming and friendly Cafe - ALWAYS clean and the food is delicious considering you're in a gym Rock Climbing Wall - Small but no extra charge. It's only open during certain hours but they provide you with everything you need (including shoes). Locker Room - (They have a men's, women's, and family locker rooms) Surprisingly very clean considering the amount of foot traffic. Large lockers that can fit your gym bag, uggs, and winter jacket. They also have a large coat rack. The locker room has every amenity you would need - towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving cream, razors, lotion, mouthwash, hair spray, hair dryers, q-tips, cotton balls, pads, tampons, and even spray deodorant. There's about a dozen showers, steam room (w/minty steam), and a jacuzzi. Indoor pool - 2 large pools. One is a lap pool and the other has laps as well as an open area for kids. There's a sauna and 2 jacuzzis. Outdoor pool - Large pool with laps and areas for smaller children to play in. 2 water slides. Small cafe outside. And a bunch of NICE chairs to lay out in. The cushion on the chairs are about 6 inches thick and amazing. They also have a separate area for members 18 and older to lay out. Which is nice for people who don't want to get splashed on and getting away from all the kids. **There is also a spa where you can get your hair cut, nail salon, and massages. I have never use this facility so I can't review it but it seems nice** Second floor- When you're on the second floor... you'll just see row after row of various cardio machines. The only downfall is that each cardio machine doesn't have its own tv like xsport. BUT they have SO MANY you'll never have to wait for a machine and you're not uncomfortably RIGHT next to your neighbors. Free style workout area - exercise balls, weight balls, bands, etc. Free weights - Equipped with your usual dumbbells, bars, and benches Machines - Rows of machines separated by which body part it'll work out Yoga and Pilates room - Yoga room is fully equipped with mats, blocks, and straps. I wish it was bigger because it can get crowded. The instructors are amazing!! Personal favorite is Samantha for Hot Yoga. She will work your body and make you sweat! Pilates room is only for private or group lessions Stretch Area- Various machines to help you stretch your muscles. There are also mats to stretch on the floor Third floor- Child Center - I don't have any kids so I can't say much about this area Spin room - Very large room. 2 large screens so it looks like you're going on an adventure. A lot of spin bikes and they're not right next to each other. 2 Studio rooms - 1 large and 1 small room. Both equipped with various exercise equipments for different group classes. A couple racquetball rooms 2 basketball courts 1 soccer room with fake grass Now that I have personally given you a verbal tour of Lifetime... I highly recommend that you check out the facility. I came into the gym on Saturday morning with my Fiance`, I was planning to use one of my 8 guest passes for him to try out the club and get a taste of the Onx Lifetime Fitness experience. Upon arrival I was informed by one of the young employees at the front desk that your guest pass policy had changed. She was very sweet, well versed and apologized for the inconvenience and told us that a manager would be up shortly to discuss the changes that had been made, but being that the policy had just changed it wouldn't be a problem for my Fiance` to enter the gym, I thanked her and waited for the manager to come speak with me. The first issue I have with David who was the Manager that day was the way he approached the issue. I am a paying member not to mention being a former employee I know that Lifetime prides itself in being not only the best gym but also providing its members with an uncompromising desire to accommodate their requests. He did not introduce himself or say "How may I help you today?" In turn, his response was to look down on us and simply state "the policy has changed" your guest is not allowed here unless it is after 12:00 p.m on Saturdays, and he handed me the paper showing the new policy. Being that it is a premier gym and more importantly suppose to be paving the way as "The Healthy Way of Life Company" I simply said "I completely understand that your policy has changed, but since it is so recent and I was not notified via email, or any other form of communication for that matter, is there any way my guest can be permitted to try out your gym today anyway?" His response was unprofessional as he stood their and adamantly stated that this was the new policy and he would not make an exception. Being that we had driven together from the city and were planning on meeting multiple friends of ours I planned to stay and workout, as my Fiance` sat down in the waiting area to decide what he was going to do, whether he wanted to get a hair cut, have a shake from the cafe` or go get a massage, David was standing there the entire time watching him as though he was a criminal, he never took his eyes off of him. Then as I said to my Fiancé well what are you going to do, he chimmed in and said "He has to leave the premisis, now," I was appauled, not only was he not allowed in the gym to use my guest pass that as a member I am given, but he was basically escorted out. There were other members around the waiting area and all of them looked uncomfortable with how David handled the situation. I know my friends were deeply offended as was I and my Fiance` as well. The sad truth of the matter is it looked like it was based on the color of his skin. My Fiance` is African American and never before have either of us been treated this way in a public place, especially not in this type of facility. It was not only appauling but unprofessional and extremely disrespectful. Being that the founder of Lifetime fitness is Iranian, I can only imagine his disappointment of any guest being treated in this manner in his gym, not to mention someone who just wanted to try the gym out. If my Fiance` had been allowed to use the club that day he would have loved it, there is no doubt in my mind, and I am sure all of his friends would have then wanted to come experience the club as well. Which in turn would have lead to more business for Lifetime Fitness. However, after this experience, I was sick to my stomach and my friends and I decided to go for a run out doors, being as though none of us wanted to be a part of a club that was so disrespectful to one of its members and her guest. If I was the General Manager of your gym I would have wanted to know the details about this situation. I am giving you the opportunity to as the General Manager to handle the situtaion appropriately and I am hoping you will take the necessary measures to insure that this kinda of treatment does not happen again to any of your members or potential members. I understand policies change but I expected more from your company in the way that they address people. I expected more from the Manager, but I do feel obligated to tell you that the young girl behind the desk acted in a much more professional manner than the Manager did that day. This is something that neither myself nor my Fiance` will forget, and now my friends and I are going to be looking at other gyms in the area. Truthfully, there are multiple gyms in the Vernon Hills, Lincolnshire area that would not have handled this situation in such an unprofessional and disrespectful manner. You would think with all of the resources available to this company and the fees they charge their clients, they could create a web site that is easily navigated by its paying clients. You get treated via branding material like a prospect. I've bought already, every month. It's written like a sales tool for people who have bought. Their app is a joke. You can only view your interests, can't reserve a studio or a court. You can get any usable information. Again written by someone who has never thought about using it. The web site keeps forgetting my preferences, so the company headquarters in Minneapolis has had squash courts reserved by accident a bunch of times. Come on guys, get your act together, you should be embarrassed by now. A 14 year old could have fixed this for you. read more

I was excited to join Lifetime after I had heard such great things about it. The lobby is clean and the locker rooms are nice and overall kept clean. The showers could use work, I am not thrilled about finding someone else's wad of hair in the shower. The cardio machines are great and they do have a large variety of machines to choose from. My biggest issue is with the lack of cardio classes for beginners. I found that most of the classes are for the experienced exercisers. The one class I love is Yoga with Olga. Olga is a great teacher, but the Sunday morning class is too crowded and you have to get there very early to get a spot. And you will still probably wind up with someone on top of you. Be careful how you choose to spend the LT bucks. I was really looking forward to taking private pilates lessons but after repeated phone calls have never received one back from people at Lifetime. For $90/month I was hoping for better customer service. Because of the lack of I am considering canceling my membership. read more

It is a good facility but unfortunately some of the staffs, especially the front desk staffs are very unfriendly and rude, it makes us feel very unwelcome. We are considering to cancel the membership after more than 10years with them. Very sad! read more

I Love Love Love this place!!!! The facility is beautiful, clean and very well maintained. The staff is super friendly and there are plenty of things for kids to do while you work out! Oh and the 3 story rock climbing wall is DOPE!!! Definitely worth the investment. read more

The amenities of this gym are super nice especially the mint steam room, hot tubs, sauna, and outdoor pool area. It's a huge with multiple levels one floor has all the machines and weights while a separate floor has a basketball court and multiple racquet club rooms. I like the overall environment the trainers all seem super dedicated and friendly. Generally, most people that workout here seem very motivated and focused. The reason I don't think it's a 5 star gym is because most of the machines are outdated. I like how they recently added a curved treadmill but some nearby gyms are constantly upgrading their machines, and I think that should be a focus for lifetime read more

For the amount of money that we pay per month, one would think that this club would be clean and have machines that work. They never wipe down the machines and the floors in the locker rooms are completely gross (the place spends more money on washing towels that people use for floor matts than it would be just to hire an extra guy to actually clean the floors). About 50 percent of the machines actually work. Many of us complained but nothing ever gets done...that's why I am canceling and am joining the Lake Forest Hospital club. read more
