The best class I've taking in years, very informative and hands on.. I'll definitely be back when it's time to renew my cpr card

The class wasn't very structured or thorough. It just seemed very rushed and hasty and a little sloppy. At one point, I tried to ask her a question about whether the breathing part actually delivers enough oxygen, but her answer was for a different question. I felt like she didn't take the time to listen to what I was asking. The CPR training was reasonable, but the First-Aid part was barely addressed. I recently completed a NOLS/WMS Wilderness First-Aid course through REI, and I felt like I learned so much there. And while being in the wilderness may be a significant difference in circumstances, the injuries are not. Blisters, heat-exhaustion, impalements, etc. can all happen anywhere, especially with children. But in the end they were quick to respond to my email, and I got my certification in less than 2 hours, on a holiday weekend no less, so I guess I should be happy with that. I'm just not someone who's looking for an 'easy A'. It's kind of sad, because many of the students that come here are working for schools or the YMCA, and they're supposedly the ones trained to handle your children in emergency situations. read more

$58 for a combined CPR and first aid class that is no longer than 3 hours? Yes, please? Besides that fact, I have to say Anita and Dave are concise, thorough, friendly teachers that really want you to know all the basic skills while delivering them in such a way that it'll stick. They have a more fast-paced, hands-on approach - however, this works since Anita wants you to approach a variety of real-life situations using critical thinking. The class was held in their own private residence condo in Coronado, and parking was a pain (then again, it was Coronado). Overall, I would definitely recommend Anita and Dave for their thoroughness and personable natures. I think this is the first time all of the first aid and CPR content stuck in my head without having to watch videos or do vast amounts of paperwork. Plus, you get your cards from the American Heart Association right after class! read more

I chose to go to Dave and Anita to do my Healthcare Provider CPR and First Aid, based on these reviews. Dave and Anita are wonderful, wonderful people and I couldn't have imagined doing this class with anyone else. They exposed me to a lot of different scenarios and really help me grasp the concepts and ideas needed to assess the situation and perform CPR. They are the best! I recently needed to renew my K-12 CPR and First Aid and this organization was recommended to me. I have gone through several classes in previous years through other "big box" type organizations, but this place was by far the best - quick, affordable, and thorough! The class I took with Rich was small and he guided us through the material in a way that made the information stick! Not only this, but he provided the most hands-on CPR training I've ever received. Our class practiced on the mannequins (adult, child, and infant) for at least 30 minutes. Rich made the training actually realistic so we could really practice the skills, including CPR, AED, and first aid skills. He also was very supportive and encouraging - he made me feel confident in my skills which no other training service has been able to do. I really can't recommend this place enough! The highest quality training I've received. For as long as I am in San Diego, I will be renewing my certs through Life Savers! read more

I recently took my health provider BLS CPR class with Anita. I decided to take their class based on the price and the positive reviews on Yelp. The class had both health providers and other people taking the basic CPR training. Anita personalized the class based on the specific needs and certification that each person was pursuing. In my past certifications, the classes took 4-6 hours to complete. This class was small with 6 people and took a little over 2 hours to do. The awesome part is that you received your certification card with the important AHA certification the same day. The class took place at their residence in Coronado. Although I live in Penasquitos, it was a fast (less than 25 minute) drive down the 15 to the I-5 and over the Coronado bridge. The price as well as the minimal time involved was well worth it. It was nice to meet the job required AHA approved CPR certification in a timely manner. This allowed me time to get some other errands done :) I will plan to return in two years for my re-certification. read more

I've already left a review, but I wanted to share something that happened today. I work at a in-home daycare and today I had to perform the Heimlich on one of our 18 month olds. It was very scary, but I jumped right into action and was able to get the crayon out of his throat. If I hadn't taken this class just a few weeks ago, I'm not sure that I would have been as successful and confident in what I was doing! Thank you guys so much!! read more

Quick and painless, because who wants to sit through 6 plus hours of videos and class?? No one. Dave and Anita are personable, thorough, and make the CPR certification a breeze. Would take it 8 times over with D & A versus ANY Red Cross or American Heart class. read more

The instructor Dave is an incredibly sweet guy who's pretty straight forward with his class. He covers all the critical details, goes over the different scenarios and emphasizes all the important points you'll need to remember. It's a simple, basic and direct class, nothing intimidating about it. Dave's very personable and he creates a fun and relaxing atmosphere, kind of a no BS personality which I love. Also very responsive and quick with emails, which is a huge plus for me. $40 for the class, which was the best price i found out of all the places I looked. I had to renew my CPR certification and found this gem here on Yelp. Dave was quick to respond to my email and I signed up for the Pediatric CPR/First aid class on Sunday from 10 AM-1PM. The class was $58 and you can pay cash or credit. I know that on Yelp, the address is on Mission Center Court, but Dave emailed me and informed me the class would be at Coronado. Dave and his wife have been teaching CPR classes for many years (forgot how many years- he's a story teller!). There were 10 people in my class and Dave jumps into teaching right away. We watched an American Heart Association video, where he would pause and chat with us or fast forward if he was going to teach it himself. He gave out a yellow half sheet with the steps of CPR down to a gist and referred to the sheet many times in class. After learning CPR, he dove right into first aid and that was the end of class! We started at 10 AM and finished at 12 PM just in time for lunch :) Dave was straight to the point with great explanations. I would definitely recommend all of you to take his class! read more

I just completed Anita and Dave's CPR/First Aid class. It encompassed Infant, Child, and Adult CPR, as well as the use of AED's. and very practical first aid. Anita is a gifted presenter, keeping a steady patter that left me knowledgeable without me realizing how much I was learning or how quickly time had passed. Anita presents her material through eliciting examples from her students and her own lives and then playing out the scenarios. Then without breaking her flow, she sprinkles in her instruction on the dummy, bringing the students into the action. Consequently, you are listening to her story and learning the material, then both seeing it play out and getting a bit of a break as she notices the dummy isn't breathing and gives instructions. The class is non stop and high energy. You then get time working in small groups on the big dummies, before moving to the babies. I felt comfortable with the training on the AED, and now would not hesitate to reach for one in a public place if I needed it. There is even a Heimlich maneuver pouch that allows you simulate dislodging material. I highly recommend the experience, and I'm glad I took the course. read more

We were all expecting another "boring" class, but instead, we got a fun, lively and very informative session. We were wide awake the whole time and laughed so hard we cried. Amazing class. I'm a Girl Scout Leader and School Volunteer. We are required to be CPR/First Aid certified. When I received their info by word of mouth, I talked my Co-Leader into taking the class with me. We contacted Dave & Anita and they were very kind to give us their information. They texted for a confirmation and directions. They are located in Coronado. Directions were clear and easy to get to. They welcomed us with a big smile! We went right into the class. I loved how Anita made complicated information and outside facts, really easy for us to understand. We walked out of there truly knowing what we are supposed to act on in case of a real life emergency. They answered our questions thoroughly. I have no doubts about anything. I'm very comfortable doing CPR if I ever need to (I hope not, but life has twists and turns.) I highly recommend this class to EVERYONE! Specially parents. We did the CPR/AED/First Aid class. Anita and Dave are the BEST! I organized a group of friends and co-workers who wanted to get CPR certified together. I emailed Dave and within 30 minutes he'd responded and called to set up a time to meet. He and Anita agreed to come to us which added extra convenience, and they adjusted their schedule to be available on a weekend for our group. The cost was nothing compared to other places ($29/ person). They arrived early to set up, started on time (which I appreciate), and ended promptly as anticipated. They used a hands-on approach which is the best way to learn instead of out of a booklet or off of a PowerPoint. They provided us with all of the tools we needed for class and gave each of us one-on-one attention and feedback. Anita used real life examples and situations to practice with us which made it applicable to what we might encounter in the future (hopefully not, but just in case!)They were fun, lively, professional and down to earth.
