Ever since a recent diagnosis, I tend to visit numerous medical establishments frequently. Because of this, I feel I have become a bit of a connoisseur, especially when it comes to the places where I have needed to have blood drawn. Nobody likes to be needlessly poked and prodded by an inexperienced phlebotomist, so I like to consider these reviews my own little public service. Fortunately, for this Lifespan location, my experience went over fairly well and was much better than what I was expecting.
After volunteering for a Lifespan affiliated medical study, making the drive from Woonsocket to Providence solely for the purpose of blood work seemed a bit much, and this associated lab and location was perfectly fine with allowing me to instead make the 5 minute trip up the road for the necessary blood work. I arrived on a Monday holiday and they were operating regular hours. I also was surprised to see that there was no wait at all.
The customer service was decent but nothing memorable, and because I was getting regular doctor ordered blood work, along with blood work for a medical study, a representative from the study was at my appointment as well. There was a slight miscommunication about the reps permission to be there and to collect the samples, but it was cleared up in a few short minutes.
The phlebotomist wasn't very personable or chatty at first, I felt as if the rep and I had to almost force it out of her, but once we did everything went very smooth. Looking back, it was probably a good thing that she wasn't especially talkative because it kept her focused on the task at hand, which really paid off considering she was able to get the numerous vials full very quickly and on the first vein (I swear I always want to give the phlebotomist a hug whenever this happens)!
All in all, my only qualms with this location; the workers could be a tad more personable, the place itself is very small and cluttered (literally like a hallway with a closet attached), and it could use a good dusting. Luckily, the staff knows their stuff and that's really most important. read more
