And this is not an antique store nor a pawn shop. We did not ride the bike in the 12 days following the purchase. This place is exactly what you should be looking for in a Local Bike Shop. The Owner Fred is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about all thing bikes. I began going to Lifestyle Cycle after I had an awful experience at the previous LBS I was Loyal to at the time. In a pinch with no business rapport Fred was able to Identify a glaring issue with my competition bike within minutes that the other shop couldn't do in 2.5 weeks. This allowed me to spring into action to ensure I had a race ready bike before my event that was 2 week away. This was just the first clue to the level of expertise in the shop. Since this occurrence Fred and his buddy Matt have saved my butt on a number of occasions whether I'm in a time pinch or looking for complete tear downs and rebuilds. Everything these guys do is to the highest quality. They have a checks and balances system where whoever the primary technician is on the bike whether that be Fred or Matt the other has to double check and approve the work before it goes back out to the customer. Their prices are extremely fair especially for the quality of work and service that is provided. We would all be so lucky to have a shop like Lifestyle Cycle in our local area. read more

Very unprofessional bike store. I called and specifically asked if they had a certain tube in stock. I was told over the phone they did. I told them what kind of bike I had and they told me to bring it in and they would fix my tire. I drove 25 minutes to bring my bike in, upon arrival the guy at the desk said they didn't have the tube and they did not work on my type of bike. I said I had just spoken to someone there and they said they had no idea who would have told me any of that. They were extremely rude and I will never give them an ounce of business. read more

My local Cycle store closed. Never questioned cost or quality. What a mistake Lifestyle was terrific. Standard tune up 1/2 the price and didn't nickle and dime for stuff I didn't need. Stopped by this shop before going for a long bike ride. I noticed my cassete was loose, turned out to be a stripped lockring. They replaced the lockring free of charge and got me rolling again. I picked up some batteries for my Garmin cadence and HR sensors. Mainly a Giant / LIV shop, but they also have SEVEN custom Ti bikes. Worth stopping by if you are in the area. I am very glad to have such a bike store near me. Very knowledgeable staff. They are not commercial but rather helpful and informative. Unlike the big bike chain stores the services are offered at a very good reasonable price. I definitely recommend this store for rookies and experts. Lucky libertyville!! I don't write reviews but feel it necessary in this case. The owner of this shop used to work at a bike shop close to where I live. Sadly for me he left and opened his own shop- 30min away. A few years ago he guided me through building (helped me pick out components, wheels, custom fit, built, etc) the best bike I've ever owned. It's been 3 years and my bike needed a tune-up and some TLC...well, it's worth the 30min drive for me to go all the way to Libertyville to have Fred work on my bike. Might be the best in Northern Illinois. My bike is riding like a dream again. read more

Great experience walking into Lifestyle Cycle last weekend with a glitchy derailleur. Store was quiet so was able to get a quick fix, as well as advice on how to take better care of my bike. I was involved in a by cling accident near Lifestyle Cycle and trashed the spokes on my front wheel about 10 miles from the end of my ride. A fellow rider I was with grabbed my damaged wheel and ran it over to Lifestyle to see what could be done to get me back on the road. The wheel needed to be rebuilt, but the staff borrowed me a wheel to finish my ride. My damaged wheel was rebuilt by Fred a couple days later and is now good as new. I had some issues with my bike shifting. After several visits to another local shop (which I respect, but shall not name) I brought my bike to Lifestyle. Couldn't be happier with their friendly service, expertise, and promptness. Got my problem resolved the first time at a reasonable price and quicker than expected. Then I crashed my bike and they fixed my bike quickly and it's never run better. I'm not too keen on the brand of bikes they carry, but as I consider a new bike in my near future I'm still going to go here first simply because I had such great experiences with them. I'm confident in their mechanical abilities and that makes me comfortable giving them all my cycling business. Online has some enticing deals, but I'm still going to support this shop because they are simply respectable people who I know will do me right. We came to Lifestyle Cycle to purchase a new big for my 8 year old son. Fred and Jess were so helpful in not only helping us find a great bike at a good price, but they also took my son out in the back alley to try the bikes out to ensure he was comfortable on them. I am sure you can find lower end brand bikes for less money at big box stores, but you won't find the high quality, genuine caring for the right fit, or the expertise at those places. I just took two bikes with rear flat tires to be repaired. I expected to drop them off and wait a week to pick-up. They fixed both flat tires while I waited! They also saw that my front tire was on backward and corrected that issue. I was truly wowed by their service! read more
