Dr. Debbie Smrz actually was able to ELIMINATE my foot pain completely! Here's my story: About 14 months ago, I went to the Urgent Care Clinic barely able to walk. I was diagnosed with a severe case of plantar fasciitis. It was so painful, I could barely walk. I sought treatment at a podiatrist who promptly prescribed orthotics and stretching. Nothing helped. After 6 months, the podiatrist decided to try cortisone shots in my foot. If I rate my pain prior to the injections, I would give it a 10 on a scale of 10. After the second round of injections, my pain went from a 10/10 to about an 8/10. Better...but still AWFUL. I was no longer going to the gym, and I was spending a lot of time sitting. I started gaining weight. I was told to exercise to lose the weight, but I couldn't put weight on my foot. I tried the stationary bike; the recumbent bike - but still a lot of pain. I only exercise I could do with minimal pain was swimming. And, frankly, not owning a cottage or a pool made this exercise very inconvenient. So I arrived at Naturopathic Living Medical Solutions for my initial assessment about my overall health. I wanted to feel better; sleep better and have more energy. In the assessment, Dr. Nadine Cyr asked about physical ailments. Plantar fasciitis, I responded. Have you tried BIOPUNCTURE, she asked? Bio-what? I had never heard of it. I was told it was one of the services the clinic offered. Dr. Cyr told me that her colleague, Dr. Debbie Smrz, has been successful in treating people in pain with biopuncture. As I was willing to try anything, I agreed. I made an appointment with Dr. Debbie for the following week and in less than 5 minutes she had injected my foot with some homeopathic substances. Immediately she asked if it felt better. Ummmm...maybe a bit? I wasn't sure. Two weeks later I came back for another treatment. It is feeling better, I said triumphantly. I think the pain is only at a 6 or 6.5 out of 10 now! I am so happy! Dr. Debbie thought it could get better. After treatment #2, I really noticed a difference. I went for a walk around my block without any pain. I no longer limped when I got up from the sofa. My boyfriend even commented that I no longer asked him to rub the bottom of my foot to relieve pain! I went back to Dr. Debbie for a 3rd treatment - but as she watched me walk to her office, she asked me if I needed more treatments. Then it hit me: I hadn't been in pain for a number of days. Pain was at a 0/10! YAY!! Biopuncture successfully relieved me of my foot pain and now I am able to focus back on exercising and improving my overall health. If it hadn't been for Dr. Cyr's deep and thorough assessment of my health, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to be treated by Dr. Smrz. I was wanting to break this vicious cycle and get back to my old active self, and in the past month or so I have ramped up activity by going to the gym, and recently getting back into playing basketball. Silly me believing that my body was the same as it was a year ago! Though I felt sore after playing basketball, after waking up the next day my entire body was pretty much a piece of hard cardboard. I was so stiff I was barely able to get up and down stairs with out a lot of effort. I figured I needed some quick intervention by an RMT to help get my juices flowing again, a quick search on Yelp led me to this clinic and Lienne Cole. Though we had a bit of a miscommunication due to the online booking system, Lienne was able to see me quite quickly in the morning. The clinic is tucked away in a small plaza with no large signage to really distinguish it, so if you are booking a late night appointment and this is your first time, be sure to arrive a bit early to allow time to find the place. Upon arrival Lienne was very bright and chatty, but always staying on topic with regards to the purpose of my visit, what ailments I have and what she would proceed to do. Through out the treatment Lienne was also very good at giving advice, pointing things out where I am more tighter then in other areas, and generally she really seemed to know her stuff. She was pointing out certain muscles that may be causing my tightness and was very good at pin pointing where to work her magic. I have tried a number of other RMT's and I found most to be very hit and miss. Lienne was just great and I find it hard to find any faults. She had great communication, very open to discussing concerns, great advice and just generally was great over all. One word of warning though Lienne may seem petite she can definitely go deep! You can change into slippers if you wish, and sip your tea if you have a few minutes before your appointment. Those are just the extras, and the best part is definitely the massage. Staff are so professional, very soothing, and you feel like you're in the hands (literally) of a capable healer. That might sound a bit odd but it is truly how you feel while you're there. After a treatment late November 2015, I had enough and decide to follow up on suggestions of some of the regulars at my gym and called Dr. Peter Moore at Moore Chiropractic on Main Street Markham. My initial assessment and session with Dr. Moore was extremely thorough. He tested my mobility to find out restrictions and imbalances and told me about each of the issues I was experiencing, assuring me that he'd be very frustrated if he has to treat me for the same issue for more than 3-4 sessions, because that means he's not doing his job right.
