Ron made a measuring error on the carpet order, but as soon as he caught it, he owned it and fixed it right away. The carpet installers were quick, efficient, and polite. The tile work turned out beautiful, genuinely great craftsmanship. What really stood out, though, was this: when we got the estimate for the carpet installed, we couldn't afford it. We told Ron we'd come back and pick something cheaper. He said, "No, don't bother, I'll talk to my supervisor and get you a discount so you can have the carpet you actually like." And he did. A few weeks later, when I was about to decide on my paint colors, an acquaintance suggested I might want to meet with a really good interior designer he knew named Sheila Botke - just for a short consultation. I kept putting off calling her. I guess I was feeling a little bit nervous and intimidated since I'd never worked with a designer before. I just couldn't imagine myself flipping through books of brocade fabric swatches with a designer -- choking at prices I would never be able to afford. Well, happily, it turned out that my fears were unfounded. I ended up feeling totally at ease with Sheila and actually having a really good time with her. She's not only exceptionally good at what she does, but she's also just a super sweet person who's a lot of fun to be around. She has a wide variety of resources to draw from. She can show you beautiful samples of anything you're needing, from blinds and curtains, to rugs and paint colors. I loved the interesting "outside the box" ideas and samples she came up with. Very creative and cool! She knows all the great retail and wholesale sources as well, and will shop with you for tile, lighting, couches... whatever you need. Having a designer that's well-connected in the trade community is a big plus. I used her hardwood floor guy and her painter and can't say enough about the quality of their work. Nothing fell through the cracks, thanks to Sheila's diligence. She had my back the entire time my remodel was going on -- catching others' mistakes and putting out small fires before they turned into real issues. She made time for me no matter how hectic her schedule was, always making sure I had what I need when I needed it! Wow. Pretty impressive. Knowledgeable about code as well as colors, she has a discerning eye for detail. I just can't imagine finding a better designer than Sheila. She's a natural at what she does. She's got the gift of being able to look at a space, indoors or out, and know just how to transform it into something that REALLY works. Our builder used Cascade Flooring for our new home build and we are very disappointed in how the…read moreowner has responded to issues we have had with the installation. Issue 1: Hardwood floor installation: During the install, newly laid sections of the hardwood floor were immediately covered with a thick cardboard to protect them. That's great to make sure they don't get damaged, except we had no opportunity to evaluate the install until we happened to show up one day before they had covered the day's work. What we saw was a pattern of 4 very short boards (looked like 'chicklets') that were installed together right in front of the fireplace in our great room. The main focal point of the great room with the smallest flooring boards all installed next to each other. (I don't install flooring for a living but who would do that?) So then we asked them to take up all the cardboard so we could inspect the ~3000 sq ft of hardwood that had already been installed. We found many other places where there were 2 or 3 short boards installed together. Needless to say we were not happy about that as our expectation was that those short boards would be used as end fillers, not as main boards in the center of the room, much less more than 1 of them in a row. The owner, Cindy, called me 'persnickety' (yes to my face) for wanting the sections replaced where there were multiple short boards together. After much discussion, she finally agreed to replace a subset of the board placements we were unhappy with. Issue 2: Tile baseboard in the bathrooms. We had Schluter edging installed at the top of the baseboards but the way the installation was left makes it look like there is a line of dirt all along the top. Pictures show how they left our bathrooms with the brown grout all along the top. Cindy's response was "It's the pre-sealed grout. That's great news! The painter can fix it!". I'm not sure who is supposed to hire and pay the painter to fix it given that we have roughly 250 linear feet of tile baseboard, but that was the response. My husband and I fixed a section ourselves by washing/scraping out the dark grout, caulking and then painting. Now at least it doesn't look like I have a strip of mud on top of my baseboards but it was a fair amount of work and it's going to take a bit of time for us to fix all of it. Very disappointed with the response after spending over $120K for flooring and tile install with them. Never again.

Because they have such beautiful materials it took us time to make our selection. Once we made our choice, Guy and the rest of the very friendly and professional team at AMG were great to work with and plan the schedule. What made this process even easier is the fact they are also a high tech fabrication shop too. They worked with us on design and his to get the best use of the natural stone we chose. They use a camera and computer simulation to show how the counter will look in your house. It was amazing. Guy was able to match our bookend slabs in such a way the seams disappeared. The installation team was on time, professional and true artists in placing the counter tops. It was one thing to see the computer simulation and it pales to what they did in person. They surpassed all our expectations. The stone is so well finished and installed it is stunning. Highly recommend American Marble and Granite.
