My teen daughter is enrolled in the EASA program. If you don't know what that is, it's the Early Assessment and Support Alliance (EASA). They provides support to young people experiencing symptoms of psychosis for the first time. She was diagnosed with Autism, ADHD and PTSD when she was 13. Then about 10 months later she confided in me that she was having overwhelming fears of being watched in places that didn't make sense to me, like our private bathroom at home. Then she would be in bed at trying to sleep and hear someone whispering her name in her ear. Even watching TV or movies was challenging because she would see things that I didn't see like ghoulish faces on characters suddenly appearing then disappearing. We discussed this with the private psychiatric nurse she was already seeing and after determining she had prodromal schizophrenia she referred my daughter to EASA. We first met with Tammy Talbert, the Program Director and she did an assessment or questionnaire with my daughter. It was so validating to my daughter to be able to have questions being asked that confirmed her experiences. Things she hadn't even told me about, like hallucinations that included smell, taste, touch sound and visual. Later we were able to meet with the Occupational therapist Michelle DeOliveira. She's been so helpful figuring out strategies for my daughter to approach the environment around her and feel safer. The mental health therapist David Castleton has such vast experience and great demeanor. He is very approachable and helps solve real world problems. He's definitely an advocate you want on your side. I'm so very grateful for the Lifeworks NW EASA Team and we haven't even met everyone yet. Arrogant and Ds on a HighSchool A-F scale. Front desk young women are the best but after that, they are the worst performers. My family member hates them and I found out why after one meeting. They take days to return calls then often give wrong answers. Their turnover is infinite and they their pleasantries, it's downhill The good employees leave quickly leaving the least experienced. The state of dealing with mental Illness is hard enough; they will certainly make it harder. They don't know the word "kind," so expect to leave depressed w no help. Was waiting over 2 months for my appointment. Got called less then an hour before and they cancelled. They wouldn't get me in for another 2 months after that. Awful customer service and they seem pretty unprofessional, I can't imagine treating clients this way. Really awful place for both staff and consumers. Since staff are paid so poorly and overworked, it shows with how unhappy consumers are with their treatment. It's nearly impossible to give good care to people when you are being treated like garbage by your employer. The people who are truly evil at Lifeworks NW are those in leadership. LifeWorks NW - Counseling & Mental Health Near Me - Portland, Oregon

Due to covid I have been trying to get a therapist for over a year now. Social worker, and physician both have been telling me everyone is booked and I've even had friends asking their therapists if they know anyone who could help me. I currently am on ohp and so I was very relieved for lifeworks to be able to fit me in to start getting the help I need. The woman I had an intake with was wonderful but the therapist I'm working with honestly shouldn't be in the field. It's dangerous. Without getting to personal I was speaking to her about feeling alone and like no one listens to me or how I feel people dont care to. She then put me on hold to answer another call... then didn't reply and when I asked "are you still there" said she had let her cat out and then proceeded to cut our "session" short almost 30 minutes. Keep in mind I'm getting an average of one session every few weeks right now. I understand some therapists aren't always the right fit for some patients but this is honestly dangerous and every session has been very basic replies and not much plan of action to help me with ptsd etc. I get a very basic handout of affirmations read and that's about it. My sessions here have done more harm than good unfortunately and it's really discouraging when you are asking for help and people are careless with your well-being and leave you feeling less valued. read more

I was going to them say 2 months. Their ONLY group times start at 12 & why? In the middle of the day & how can a person work around that for outside appointments, ECT. whatever & told this to Jacklyn but she didn't care. She expects group to come before ANYTHING even questions you to make you feel guilty. Like do you want to come to groups? Are you even wanting to? Considering I have follow up medical appointments after being in the hospital for a week she didn't care in that ONLY to I come to groups. Missing that tax write off on me? Said go to your appointments but it wasn't sincere. How can I make any when you have me here 3 days a week? This was 3 wks. ago meet up. Said she'd take a day away & let me know. So she lied about it never got back with me. So she wanted me to do groups over my health. She's not the only liar but Kimberly is too. She told me she had rental help money for me. When my landlord called her back she tells her I misinformed her. Thanks for calling me a liar & made it out I lied to my landlord doing this to save your butt. Are you going to be homeless? You got it made now so it's all you care about as you sit in group claiming your one of us, you know how it is, blah, blah, blah, b.s. It's true the first three visits are free, but anyone in the counseling field know clients need more than that to get started, so depending on ones insurance it can be a bit of a let down. I would have hoped this company would do a better job on background checks on certain councelors. Lifework is a company who takes many types of profits care Oregon and private insurance. They put you on a 1 month 2 month to see a counselor. They say this it to help more people out. 2 times a month is not enough for some people who going through something major challenges in there lifes. Life works given me hell for 4 months September 2019 until know. They do not want to help you. They only want to charge your insurance company or your credit card or pocket. There is problems in there staff management. They hire new college students out of college who graduate and internship new counselors and that fine. All the good staff left. This goes for the whole LWNW campany Oregon wide. Be warned and good luck. There are some good staff left. I had 2 great staff. One quite this company. The other one, lifeworks will not let me work with her anymore. There rules has negative strings attached. They care about there million dollar profits across the whole Oregon state claiming money from many other companies and state. Do your research and you will see this is true covered up with what they want you to see and read. Good luck everyone who dares to use Lifework nw. Some will succeed and others will loose in your wellbeing. If they really cared about your wellbeing they need to change how they help others. This why the great staff are leaving. I was a success story when I first started working with lifeworks, for about a year things were good I had some issues but nothing major. That was until the pandemic hit and the need for mental health assistance sky rocketed every where, that's when they started letting me fall through the cracks. I used to go to therapy once a week and was regularly checked on by my team, after a while my therapist said I was doing better and suggested we meet once every two weeks. That turned into once a month, and quickly after that it was hard to get a hold of my therapist or anyone from my team but since I wasn't in the hospital I was good enough for them to just prescribe me my meds with the occasional meeting with a LPN for med management which would last a total of 5 minutes if that. It has become increasingly more difficult to even contact anyone from LW if I have a problem with my meds or a crisis. If you want mental health care you're better finding online groups and other people with mental health conditions for support. These people don't care about their clients. read more

To tell you the truth in 2019 life works gave me so many counselors. They never helped me. I had one supervisor who left life works. On September 19,2019 she help me so much on that day. I will never for get the gift of healing she gave me on that day. Shortly a few days later she left life works nw because of upper poor management of employee cruelty issues. A lot of good counselors left that year. They hired a lot of new staff . After that day life works made my life a living hell. They only care about there money revenue from insurance and there chef iron fund raisers every year charging $125 a plate plus donation to there millions of fundraiser. Paying there management 100,000 plus years for upper management of many. Lower income on the line action floor.Run from this place. Yes there are good counselors on the bottom who care and help. There are those who only want there revenue cash flow and dont care about you to make there wealthy lifestyle. There are staff who make your life a living hell. Rudest receptionist I have ever met. I have tried for months to get my daughter seen and have been insulted by staff and had appointments changed without notice. We still have only been seen by the intake person and not a counselor. For people who are supposed to help with mental illness they sure know how to make a person crazy. DO NOT GO HERE unless you have no choice. At this point I would rather have literally gone this last year without therapy, and been better off. I have a lot of experience with therapists and this has been my worst by far. Currently this location has NO therapists to see patients. From what I've been told all clients have been assigned to "skills trainers" in lieu of actual therapy while they scramble to rehire. Go to their website and look at how long their job listings page is! I have had two therapists quit within a year, and the third therapist I was going to be transferred to is also leaving. They do not pay their employees adequately and actively exploit the ones who care enough to stay. Even with a therapist, I was only seen ONCE A MONTH! I have filed complaints, tried looking elsewhere, etc. but as long as they continue billing my insurance for "therapy" (which is actually skills training by a non-certified counselor), I am unable to get services elsewhere. Good and bad i'd have to say. My fiance and i both go to lifeworks. Our first appointments were on the same day. His was first and when he came out he had this look on his face like he was upset so i asked him what happened and he told me that the lady told him if he wasnt " going to talk to her about something serious he might want to go somewhere else for couseling and medication. I was shocked. This was his first appointment. not everyone spills there hole life story when you first meet someone... Meanwhile my apointment went very well and i think my counsellor completely gets me and is very nice... I guess its a luck of the draw type deal. read more

I have had lots of experience with life works. I have participated in group and one on one sessions. I have been evaluated and prescribed medication through life works. We have used Lifeworks for the past year for our foster daughter and we have always liked the therapists that she sees, but this review, however is for the new receptionist that they recently hired. While the previous receptionist did her job and was professional, she was a bit on the cold side, especially considering that a large number of the clients there are children. The last time that we went to Lifeworks however, there was a new face at the front desk (bummer, I don't know her name). She was smiley, super friendly and she even went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. It was the kind of service that makes you take notice, in a good way. What if every person in the service field could be so delightful? It would almost make all those tip cups that you see out there worth dropping some money into! While the building is old and the waiting room could use some up-dating, I'd highly recommend Lifeworks NW. read more

I called to schedule an appointment for my teen who is dealing with some anxiety. I was flat out told that since I didn't have Oregon Health Plan that I couldn't schedule an appointment. The scheduler told me that they had no providers who were accepting my insurance (CIGNA) and they would only accept Oregon Health Plan. I said fine, I'll pay out of pocket. She told me that my money wasn't accepted there. Are you kidding me! What kind of business doesn't accept cash for services? So unless I'm on a government subsidized health plan they won't take me as a patient? Total B.S, and sounds like this company is only interested in sucking money from the government. I don't qualify for OHP and am completely offended that LifeWorks NW discriminates and only takes low income patients. Don't support this business, any company with that kind of attitude will probably just make your mental health issues worse! read more

These people have been sucha blessing. When you have complex PTSD, a lot of every day tasks can become complicated and overwhelming. They sat me down and listened to my tales of heart ache, loss, and abuse, watched me break down at the most traumatizing relationships of my life, listened, and made a treament plan based on my experiences and goals. I felt like I mattered. I told them I had been off treatment for a few months so right there, they made the calls and got me exactly what I needed. They did not make assumptions and did not treat me like they look down on me. Julie was very compasaionate. I have now, peer support as well. Someone who has the same kind of illness and can understand me, and wants to just sit and have coffee and talk. My anxiety already is lightened just from talking a bit. I took examples of coping skills when I am triggered. These people are so supportive. A real blessing. A good idea for somewhere to raise money for. They have 24 hour crisis help and can bridge medication. They help you every step of the way. I even had my cab ride to and from provided by them. Amazing. read more

I used to go to LifeWorks for treatment, and in two cases I had very helpful therapists that provided me extensive therapy. Unfortunately, Lifeworks uses a rating scale to judge your improvement (urge to sleep 1-5, appetite 1-5 etc.) that can't be adjusted for other factors like chronic illnesses that might make you sick and tired and goal meeting requirements don't matter as much. The last therapist I saw at LifeWorks actively pressured to have me removed from the program, leaving me with the strong impression she didn't want my ratings on her record due to some of the things she said concerning my progress vs. goals I had met. I will give it a two stars thanks to the previous therapists and some kind receptionists, but because I have received that sort of exclusion by one of their workers, and at a time of a lot of difficulty, I would recommend people with long-term needs seek other treatment centers. read more
