The estimates from the 3 companies came back with wide range of recommendations and costs. Tony from Star Techn came to do the estimate. He was very professional and informative and answered all of my questions. We picked Star Techn. Foundation Repair because of their estimate and recommendation made sense and not upselling with so many different options which added more costs. Flor was great in her responsive and constant communications with me from the beginning and throughout the project. Flor and Henry were able to work with my schedule to start the project. In addition to keeping the work around the house free of trash and organized, the crew really worked hard and well together in getting the project done in such short amount of time which exceeded my expectations. We have 2 large oak trees close to the front of the house. During the digging of the holes , the crew cut lots of the roots with some as large as one foot in diameter. Apparently, these tree roots have been moving towards the house causing the elevation and foundation issues at the front part of house. Because of discovering this issue, Flora informed me and recommended the metal tree root barrier service that they can do. After reviewing the process and considering protecting the investment of the house foundation from further future damage, we proceeded with the metal root barrier service. Glad we did this since we discovered more large roots encroaching the house that the crew had to cut off. This proved to be critical in helping us negotiate during the option period. Then when it came time to begin the work they stayed in contact with us the entire time. From start to finish, the team was incredible. They kept us in the loop the entire time during the project and were candid when they spotted issues or uncovered things that needed to be fixed (like plumbing). The biggest thing for us during this project is that we truly felt like we were receiving an honest assessment and fair value for the work being performed. On day one I never imagined how much digging would be taking place around the foundation but I have to say the quality of the work and the way everything was restored to normal in the yard after everything was completed was extraordinary. Beau Roper arrived at our property on time, introduced himself politely, and gave us a quick overview of what to expect -- how long things would take and when we'd get the report back. We walked the property together so I could point out any issues and he could ask questions. He then got to work, explaining that the inspection would take about an hour to an hour and a half since he needed to be thorough and photograph everything on the property. We ran some errands and came back just as he was finishing up. He walked us through everything he'd done and made sure my wife felt comfortable with the findings before leaving the property clean and orderly. Moving forward, Groundworks kept us updated on the status of the report and what to expect next. Everything arrived exactly on time. I can't thank them enough -- this was an exceptional experience compared to other contractors I've dealt with. Groundworks provided a very thorough report, complete with the licensed engineer's information, which made a real difference. Quick note for anyone in Texas: there's no state license or requirement to be a foundation contractor here -- all you need is a shovel. It's a pretty wide-open, unregulated space. When I complained about it all I got from the Manager or Owner or whoever it was, was a oops, sorry shit happens. We talked to them. No true apology no we are so sorry. He even said this isn't the first time! Then it took them months to bill me for the work. When they finally did they never got around to sending the engineering report even though the engineer said it would be completed within 24 hours. Oh they also magically were somehow never able to pull a permit so they deducted money from my bill for that. They decided to not put one pilling in on installation day without telling me, however they did remove the charge for it. I guess that's honest. I just now 5 months later got my warranty paperwork. Very timely. I should have gone with Atlas Foundation Repair. I had forgotten to do any review until they just sent an email to provide a review. I am sure they are not happy now.
