Great little place! Did some research of salons in the area as I'm here on travel and to help take care of my mom after a medical procedure. KTL Rooted Salon came up as one to check out! Kenneth messaged me quickly and was very up front about what he could offer and for what price. Rooted is in the Folsom hills and right in the downtown area along Lake Natoma and the American River. Every time I venture out Folsom way there is something new to see, but this little area still has the same "feel" as when I was a kid - Cute, Quaint, Small-Town. Since they have only been in this location a few months they don't have signage up yet but you can't miss it, it's a darling little cottage with a red stone brick path leading to inviting walk up and entry. I felt comfortable right away. Kenneth was up front ringing out another client but made sure to greet me as soon as I entered, which says a lot in my book. He showed me to his room, which was super cozy; the salon chair was comfy; LOVED the wash station, Kenneth was awesome; very personable, we chatted it up while he washed, did a deep conditioning treatment, (can I get that hair drier to go pls?) lol, Brazilian blow out and some touch up with the flat iron so I could get home to flat iron the rest (I do that myself). Even without the flat iron it looked fantastic! My hair felt super clean and well hydrated, not dried out at ALL. When I got home to finish the flat iron it was nice n soft n felt fabulous. Loved it! I have been on the quest to find a hairdresser since I moved to the area 8 years ago. After meh results I finally had an absolute horrific color done at a salon in Granite Bay. Yes, they will be getting a 1 star review from me! I was in tears and on the search again when I stumbled on Kenny at Rooted Salon. I stalked his IG page and decided to take the plunge with him to fix my hair. He responded right away and we had a great text conversation regarding options he could do so I would be able to go out in public again. Just moved to the USA and I was looking for a good place to do my hair. The salon is super confortable and cozy. Kenny did my hair. I loved the way he took time to ask me a lot of questions to understand what I really wanted. The colour and haircut were great even if the color wasn't exactly what I was expecting (a little bit too dark) it is beautiful and very natural. When you can't wait to post a review because you are so happy with how your hair looks!! I am so happy that I took a chance with this adorable salon. There were hardly any reviews and pictures of their work however the reviews that were here were all positive. I got my hair done by Lila..she's very easy to talk to and i feel like she understood what I was looking for and better yet she knew what she had to do to achieve it. I don't know if it's techno ally ombré or balayage or a mix of several different styles but she can do it all. I was not sure how light she was going to be able to get my ends but she got it exactly like I wanted. Medium brown on the top then fading into blonde. She took her time and made sure it was perfect. I thank her so much. As long as I live close enough I will not go anywhere else. Also to note - 1. the products they use were really top notch and was quality stuff. My hair feels great. 2. It is hard to find if you don't know where to look..it's on the back hand side of the farmers insurance. If your heading east on Mt Diablo make the right on the small side street just before farmers then the first left again. 3. Online appointments are easy to do and I live the option. DON'T LET THESE 5 STAR REVIEWS FOOL YOU! I went in with high hopes for just root touch ups and a cut. Thought pretty simple right? First my appointment was at 12noon and I showed up at 11:55. It was 12:05 before anyone noticed I was there only to tell me to wait a few minutes. 12:30 - thats when I was sat to get my hair done. So okay I am a bit disappointed in the wait time but I am thinking maybe the color and cut will be so great that it will be worth it. WRONG!!! My roots turned out not blond, but orange! and I was told that its because my hair was dark. Well yes it is but most other places I've gone to got it blond not orange! Instead of trying to fix it they're just like thats all we can do. And my cut was an A cut and one side was longer than the other (it was not supposed to), but by then I was so tired and irritated that I just wanted to get out of there and never come back. If you want to have your hair colored or a nice cut, go ELSEWHERE!! If you really want someone who knows what they're doing then go to Primp that's just a few blocks away. read more

I have been getting my hair cut by Shanna Epstein for about two years now. As such, I followed her over to Sheer Perfection when she started cutting men's hair there last year. This salon is comfortable and relaxing and reminds me more of a bungalow than a hair salon (that is a good thing). It has great natural light, chill background music, coffee, wine, champagne or beer if that's your thing. And the salon is always clean but not sterile-feeling. Regarding Shanna. I can't recommend her enough. She is chatty but not overly conversational. She starts with great neck and back massages, is thorough but efficient with her haircuts, and is always very mindful of making sure that water temperature is just right. I typically don't put much effort into my appearance and tend to stay away from anything that makes me stand out, but going into 2016 I was looking for a change. New Year, new me. So I decided to step out of my comfort zone and get something a little more daring. I made an appointment with Kenneth, the owner of Shear Perfection. He is seriously the best. I went in not knowing exactly what I was going for--something bold, but still feminine and still easy to take care of was kind of all I knew for sure. Color, length--all that was up in the air. He listened to what I knew I was looking for and helped guide me on the things I wasn't sure about, taking into account my hair care routine. We settled on a beautiful shade of mermaid bluish green (allowing me to look and feel bold and different), but leaving the roots natural so the maintenance would be easier for me. This being such a big change for me, I was a little nervous about how it would turn out. But he reassured me it wouldn't look stark or awkward, and he was so right. I absolutely love the result. The whole experience was so personalized and the process was actually fun. I thought sitting in the chair would be tedious, but he is great to talk to while you wait for the color to set. Very nice and down to earth. About two weeks after I got my hair done, I went on a three week-long vacation. It's summer in the countries I visited, so there was a lot of pool time, sun exposure, and swimming in the sea--and a lot of hair washing afterward. The biggest and best surprise has been how well the color has held up. It's only lost a little of the boom--still very vibrant, and I'm still loving it. For five weeks of swims, shampoos, sweat, dirt, sun, and seawater, I was expecting a more washed out, bleachy look by now. Very impressive! The salon itself is beautiful; it's an intimate space, very quaint and still very elegant. They have a lot of quality line products in there, too. I wanted an artist to do my hair, and I got one at Shear Perfection. Kenny blended just the right colors together to get the color that I was looking for. I told him, "I want my hair to look like blue fire," and he succeeded in doing exactly that! As time moves on, I am really digging the way the color is shifting - which is a huge plus. I tend towards lower maintenance hair that I don't have to get done too often. Shanna was also very welcoming, and the environment they create in the salon truly makes you want to go back.
