So happy here!!! My horses love Ligara just as much as I do. My heart is so full
    Hillary B.

I have been riding at Ligara Farms over the past ten years and Susan, the trainer, has taught me everything I know about how to be a great rider. The facilities are beautiful, clean, and all the horses are very healthy and extremely well taken care of. I have ridden at dozens of facilities with many different trainers over the past 15 years, but I will always come back to Ligara because Susan is truly the best in the business. Every lesson is very safe, yet fun and she pushes you to reach your full potential. Ligara feels like a second home to me and I strongly recommend boarding a horse for training here or even just taking regular lessons if you want to be a great rider. I'm so happy that I discovered Ligara ten years ago and I continue to ride nearly every day as I train my young horse here. 10/10, definitely worth every penny and moment!

Both of us have been riding at ligara for multiple years and WE LOVE IT!!! The horses are EXTREMELY well cared for, and while many other barns have lazy, old school horses, Ligara's are trained show horses, and can accommodate everyone from beginners to advanced riders. The staff is very friendly, and always ready to help. Ligara's atmosphere makes it feel like you have a family there. The facilities are always VERY neat and tidy. For example, the groom stalls are very nice and are swept throughout the day, while most barns don't even have groom stalls. The arena and jumps are beautiful and are always in top condition. Susan, the owner and trainer, is one of the best instructors we have ever met because of her goal to make us the best riders we can be. K: Susan helped me to find a horse to lease that I can really connect to. She recommend that I try out one of her horses named Bo, who i love to pieces. Bo is an amazing horse who fits all my riding needs. It's been such an amazing experience riding Bo and getting to grow with him. :) I did the Fox n' Horn show at Pebble Beach and it was the best show I have ever done!!! Bo and I placed very high in our jumping class and we had a great time! I'm so thankful that Susan has given me this great experience at Ligara. N: When I began riding, I was a barn where I learned all kinds of incorrect practices, like leaning back in the saddle and posting on the incorrect diagonal. Now, after two years of riding at Ligara, my riding has improved so much, and I've even been to a couple of shows, where due to Susan's incredible tutelage, I placed high in nearly all of my classes. Susan also introduced me to multiple horses who I've greatly enjoyed riding over the years: Avalon and Landon. I've progressed so much with each of them, and would never have reached the place in my riding that I have without Susan teaching me to work with them. Overall, riding at Ligara has been an amazing experience, and I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to come here.

He even goes above and beyond to help advocate for the safety of those who ride out to the Open Space trails by communicating with both Open Space and Santa Clara County representatives about the relationship between vehicle vs. equestrian transportation along the street leading into the trailhead. Tyler often works from sun up to sun down. Often working to improve the quality and comfort of the facility. You will find it difficult to come across someone who is harder working or more honest than Tyler! To top it off, it's rare to see him without a smile on his face. Heck, it's rare to see any of the horse owners out at CCR without a smile on their faces! One of the few facilities whose boarders welcome new arrivals with invites to join trail rides, dinner outings, and other extracurricular activities! There's plenty other things to say but there's even more to be experienced in person!

He will try to tell you he works his ass off while loading up his 4 wheeler in preperation to leave the ranch for another weekend in a row with no one to keep an eye on the horses, and no way to reach him WHEN something goes wrong. The trainer there is barely an intermediate rider, so if you have a difficult horse, or are serious about riding go elsewhere. The arena also has terrible footing. Drama is the same as any other barn. The trail is nice, but has only one loop trail so it gets old very quickly.

She breaks down each movement clearly, so whether you are just starting or working on more advanced maneuvers, she passes on her considerable knowledge in a way you'll understand! She teaches adult and kids alike, both English & western disciplines, and even preps students for local shows! I also like that she tailors lessons to each individual .... My husband and I ride during the same time, and she has me focussing on collection & bending, while he is working on his posting trot & his seat at the lope. It's nice that she doesn't overload us during our lesson, too. She'll give us something to work on, explain it & answer questions, and then let us do our thing. (I have had other instructors in the past who barely let me accustomed to a new concept before briskly moving onto the next. I found it hard to build muscle memory or fully grasp what they were teaching.) I felt so at home here, that when I bought my first horse in October, I decided to board him at Big Oak. My little arab is currently in training with Rhonda, and he is shaping up to be a wonderful mount for me! She has taken an introverted, easily spooked, green-ish gelding & given him confidence through training to simply blossom! Now, even with all those evil shiny tarps or scary tumbleweeds, he doesn't bat an eye and keeps focussed on what we're doing! He even moves off my leg now, collects nicely, and keeps a nice head position despite all those scary distractions ;)

I've been taking lessons here for about three years now and when I finally get my own beastie I'll make the 20 min drive out there. It's a beautiful area, very woody and clean looking. The people up here are great fun and very friendly and they have a nice range of lesson horses for people from "I've never seen a horse in person" to "I ride championship" So if you're thinking about a lesson or anything take the trip out here, but be sure to call ahead and get the gate code. The property owners aren't happy when they get calls to the house from Rhonda's people.

I was initially referred to her because of the facilities, and the care for her horses. I also appreciate that Shari owns the barn, so I never have to guess where my lesson will take place. A lot of trainers in the area seem to move barns frequently, but with Shari everything is consistent and reliable. Plus, as Morgan Hill can get hot, I really appreciate having access to the indoor arena. There is also a dressage ring and an outdoor ring, so there's plenty of space and flexibility depending on what you're working on. I got back into riding about five years ago as an adult after growing up with my own horse, although now I ride mostly to stay connected to horses and continue learning in a safe, supportive environment. Shari does a great job meeting riders where they are, whether you're returning to the sport or advancing your skills. Shari also hosts local competitions at the barn, which creates opportunities for riders who want to push themselves further. Overall, it's a great place to ride, learn, and be part of a welcoming horse community.
