Don't bother getting fluorescent lens covers cut. I ordered 40 for an office building and paid $2 extra to have them cut. I normally do it with a dremel tool and it's very easy but I figured since it was for the company, it would be more time efficient too just have them do it. Sixteen out of twenty had the corners chipped off. They told me that their "special table saw" does that but there's no refunds on custom cut lens. I should have saved the company the $40 and did it myself. No worries.. never again will I purchase anything from this store. read more

I have been going to Light Bulb Depot since 2000. This is a great source of any type of light bulb you could want. I could not be happier with all of the purchases I have made over the years. I have 7 chandeliers in my home and all the light bulbs came from Light Bulb Depot. A wonderful, trustworthy electrician (during a remodeling project) recommended Light Bulb Depot and I have been a customer ever since his recommendation. The staff is professional, helpful, confident, polite, patient and always willing to assist anyone. I recommend them to friends all the time. As large as the City of Houston is, there are so many things you cannot find here. That is definitely not the case with Light Bulb Depot. read more

I cannot understand why anyone would write bad reviews on Light Bulb Depot. The staff has always been friendly and will help you find the product you are looking for. So far, LBD's inventory had the items I needed. If you are writing a "low star" review on a return, so be it. When I buy products, I prefer to get exactly what I need to not make a return. The employees at LBD have ALWAYS been helpful and who cares if they are not speed demons. Try Amazon or on-line returns and see how long that takes before you bonk the staff at LBD. Be thankful for employees who know their products and willing to help with install ideas for the products you purchase. I am thankful for LBD as I have experienced terrible customer service and a "no return policy" at competitive stores in Houston. The worst idea is trying to return products on-line (disaster). Crummy that others gave 1 star reviews. I give LBD 5+ stars for customer service and inventory choices. :-) read more

Do you understand me?" ----They allow you to pass your burnt-out light bulb or other parts over the counter for the worker to find a match.---- Clarice Starling: "Did you do all these drawings, Doctor?" This place has the absolute worst return policy I have ever seen. It's like they're in the 1960's writing up a return and then getting a manager to approve it to return a light bulb. DO NOT go here unless you know exactly what you want. God forbid you have to return it you'll regret the day you ever step foot in the place. Then they want to charge a restocking fee to but a bulb back on a shelf. Oh and forget about returning in on Saturday because they don't do returns on Saturday. I guess the manager can't review the return because he's off that day. I will never go there again. read more

I've purchased several bulbs here over the years. They have been polite and more importantly, found the bulbs I needed (my builder installed a number of unique lighting fixtures). Granted its not always the fastest, but the service has been good, and I've not had issues with any returns/exchanges. I think they cater more to building contractors, but they have always been helpful when I need one or two bulbs for my flood lights or ceiling fans. read more

Unfortunately they have what I need so I have to deal with this place. I don't know why it is so bad. I always go in with the number of the product I need and it takes FOREVER EVEN IF IM THE ONLY CUSTOMER. If there's someone ahead of you plan on 30 mins. I think part is their computer system. In February went in to buy 3 bulbs for outdoor lighting. They gave me the wrong bulbs, all of which burnt out within a week (they were supposed to give me bulbs that lasted 3 years). I called, explained the situation to Frank. He told me which bulbs I should have been given and stated that he would do an equal exchange. Since we were in the middle of the stay at home orders & I am in the high risk category I told him it would be a good while before I came in. He indicated it would not be a problem and would hold the right bulbs in will call. Today went by to pick up & asked them to put the bulbs outside front door when I got there. Said they would. When I arrived I was told since I waited so long they could not exchange and would charge me again for the 'correct' bulbs! Told them I didn't want any contact but kept sending another person out to talk to me as I sat in car. Nick, (he said he was a manager) got on the phone and kept repeating they 'would do anything they could to help', then refused to exchange for the "correct" bulbs. Told me to give him my credit card for the right bulbs since he would no longer honor an exchange. Told me warranties were only for a return for the exact same type of bulb...which was the WRONG bulbs they gave me to begin with. He refused to let me talk and over talked me. Was extremely rude. So bottom line: they created the problem in the first place by giving me 3 wrong bulbs that burnt out in a week, wouldn't honor their word when they said they would exchange for the correct bulbs and was condescending and rude. Not a place I will ever do business with again. But I see from other reviews a common issue. Will take it up with my credit card company. read more

If they could receive no stars, that's the rating I would give them. Sales associates don't know what they are selling you. Absolutely non existent customer service. Watch counter help turn up their noses when you have a return. A guy that came in before me was told he could not return his huge commercial light fixture because the box had been opened. His reason for return - it was missing parts! How do you know the parts are missing until you open the box? I came in to exchange or return 12 light bulbs that would go on a Christmas decoration (total cost $28). When I went to this store the first time I brought in the bulbs I needed. Both sets that they sold me were wrong. I returned those a week later. The new bulbs they sold me the second time appeared to be the correct size (length and width) as my old bulbs so I thought everything was fine. I put the bulbs, bag, and receipt in with my Christmas decorations and store it away. When December came, I got the decoration out and a bulb was already out. So I got one of my new bulbs from Light Bulb Depot out and placed it on the string. It looked a lot brighter right away but I didn't think much of it. A few minutes later I smelled a melting smell but didn't know where it was coming from. An hour later, the bulb went out. Thank god I was home. It got so hot it melted the decoration. I removed the bulb and let it cool off. Upon examination, I read the wattage on the bulb - 15W. The bulb I gave them to replace was a 3W!!! They gave me a bulb 5 times the wattage of the bulb I brought in. Had I not been home that could have set my home on fire. Do you think I received an apology for selling me the wrong bulb? Nope. Not one bit of concern that they caused a fire hazard in my home. Then they looked at my receipt and said they would not accept a return of the bulbs as I purchased them 10 months ago. I explained that it went on a Christmas decoration and that I didn't pick out the bulb, their sales associate did. They refused to help me whatsoever. And remember this was a whopping $28 purchase. Its not like I am asking to return hundreds of dollars of inventory, it was 12 bulbs for Christ's sake. I will contacting their corporate office to inform them of the absolutely worst customer service I have ever received. And I have wasted 3 trips to this store and still don't have the bulbs I need. read more

If you are in business, this is the place to buy bulbs! The sales people are helpful and knowledgeable. The reason they were understaffed in the store when a retail customer came in is that they have sales people on the street calling on businesses. When a sales person called on me last month, I ordered a CASE of T-8 Daylight bulbs. Not only was the price less than Home Depot, they DELIVERED them the next day with NO DELIVERY FEE! Woo-Hoo! I have been in this store about 5 times and its always the same, the few people you see who are actually working really act like they could care less, in the middle of waiting on me the guy gets into a conversation with his counter part who just came back from a break talking about how long his break was... The old guy that seems to just shuffle around spent more time getting a bag of chips out of the machine and he waits on no one and talks with no one..about a half dozen people were standing and waiting for help with all sorts of people leaning against walls and bs ing down the back hall way that you can see... This place really needs a manager who can try to convince the employees that the customer does not need to hear about their lunch, their girlfriend and use some discretion, lots of people standing and hoping to get help maybe the old guy could have helped a min before getting his bag of chips, opening them in the middle of the show room, sniffing in the bag and then walking off... No one that I know of even like going to this place.. If these employees hate their job so much then get rid of them, none seem to have any sort of cheery attitude read more
