I am continually impressed by M & M Lighting's ability to keep up with all the latest LED lighting products and trends given how often the technology changes. There are so many brands and different light qualities coming and going, some being absolute junk, but I always trust that they do their research and only carry the most reliable products at M & M so I don't have to and they stand behind their products in case it doesn't perform well, even if it's longer down the line. Just a disclaimer: I don't come to M&M as a regular customer but instead as an account customer, which means I don't have to deal with the salespeople on the floor. My boss is the account customer here. However, the way it works is he would get a list of all the light fixtures that he would need at the construction site and M&M will respond back with their pricing. And all I can say is their pricing is VERY competitive compared to anywhere else you can think of. I've had the pleasure of coming here for will-call orders. The people are always quick and helpful. I've also dealt with the delivery driver when they're dropping off our orders and the drivers are always courteous. Also, if you go to the will call area, they usually have a whole bunch of ceiling fans that are being cleared out. They're discounted pretty deep. You can find fans for $50 and up. So if you need one, try your luck and see what they have. And another note, if you're looking for something that they don't have in the showroom, more than likely they can special order it for you. I've been looking for bath and living room light fixtures for months without much luck. I didn't find much that I liked, and what I did like was ridiculously priced. My contractor recommended M&M Lighting so I checked it out. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had what I just wanted and the prices were very reasonable - like half of what RH and all the Richmond lighting stores were charging. And unlike the showrooms where you have to beg to be helped, MM's people were very helpful. Red (think young Morgan Freeman from shawshank) spent an hour helping me find just what I needed. I went to M&M Lighting prior to a total remodel of my home in the Houston Heights. What I found was an awesome lighting store, with the most lighting fixtures I've seen under one roof! Red Edwards was a gem, showing me numerous options in person and a huge assortment of catalogues. Their inventory ranges from decent/budget to high end. I was able to replace 22 high-end, coordinating light fixtures in my 3200 sq ft home without breaking the bank. I recently purchased a chandelier and casa blanca fan from M&M lighting. I was impressed at the selection and the customer service. The showroom floor is crowded with a variety of options, so be sure to walk through a few times. I went to many stores and the prices at M&M lighting were almost always the best priced. but what really impressed me was how well they handled the one issue I had. When my fan was installed it did not work properly (not installed by their recommended electrician). I called Keith at M&M lighting and he immediately jumped into action. Their recommended electrician was at my house the same day to resolve the issue. I will go back and would recommend them to anyone. I can't say enough good things about M&M Lighting! I have been doing business with them for years, and will continue to do so. They stand behind the products they sell, even when the issue might have been the installation. I bought a fixture at least 5 years ago, have had problems almost from day one. I have had multiple electricians look at the fixture, and finally found one who liked a puzzle, and wouldn't quit until he figured out the issue. Through the process of multiple hands, a little globe got broken, and Halogen bulbs burnt out before their time. M&M made it all right again! This it not an inventory review- it is a customer service review. I walked around the store 4 times looking at all of the chandeliers. I knew what I wanted, even who the manufacturer was. I waited in line politely. The service man who "helped me" first gave me a lecture on the size I needed (I wasn't looking for his mansplaining- I knew what size and exactly what fixture I needed, and he didn't even ask about the room size anyway); he didn't listen to one word I said about knowing my ceiling height, etc, and that I had talked to my contractor about it. But when he realized I had looked up the fixture online and knew the current price ranges, he literally REFUSED to give me a price quote! In fact, he shut down and did everything he could to act as if I wasn't standing there next to him and his computer. Instead of asking me what the price was online and from whom, etc, he started to tell me they didn't really like carrying that brand because no one liked it!!! It might take 2 to 3 weeks to get it so, well, sorry. Are you kidding me?? He watched a customer wanting to order a fairly pricey light fixture walk OUT of the store. No, I did NOT have an attitude (like I do now! :-) )- I wanted to see what the price was and he wouldn't show or tell me- he had the computer OPEN to the M and M site and wouldn't click on the company price. It was like a comedy sketch stand off. I'm ordering from the best online store now. BUT here's the deal- I prefer to shop locally. I prefer to use local merchants and will even pay a little more because it is local. But evidently my purchase was not in his interest or something. I am going to let the people who make the lighting fixture know that the sales people at M and M have talked down their product. Also-I was so menial, he wouldn't give me his card so I could call and order it if I decided to- he told me to call "Erin" next time, not him, and looked away until I left! I'll go shop for lighting online now. Just believe the people who say the service was not what a retailer should have. It shouldn't matter what price fixture you want, you should be treated as a customer, not a nuisance. I am a localite in Bellaire that needed to get a pendant light replaced in a custom-build home. I had to take the fixture down, get the manufacturer name, get their website and finally find their local distributors. I went to M&M as it was the closest, but the salesman over the phone was the nicest and most helpful of others that I spoke to. I went there even though they needed to order the part while someone else had it in stock. There was a small delay in delivery and a previously undisclosed delivery charge that ultimately Amy waived. The salesman left a lot to be desired, as I assume he got a talking to, and wasn't the friendliest when I went to go pick it up. Were that it, I'd 3-star this place and be done with it. However, the pendant socket actually was missing a small (1-2 mm) tightening screw. It needed it since this was all that was holding the bulb in, which in turn was supporting the weight of a glass disk. I went back to the store and Red gave me a few options, none of which worked, and then I went back again and they pulled a same manufacturer different line pendant out and gave me the screws from there, along with their Allen wrench (I was moving out of the house at this point) and a smile. It was really great to have the follow-up service and what a friendly family. Really appreciate their help in getting this resolved (over the course of two months, but such is!) read more
