I love this place. It's a barber shop that actually knows its customers and cares about them. Keith does my haircut quickly which I appreciate with how busy life can be. This place has been around for decades and there is a reason why. The people saying that the owner is rude and inappropriate are likely the same people that get offended when you don't use their pronouns right - get over yourself. I've waited a year to leave a review here. I went to this shop since it was conveniently located to my home. The owner is old school and clearly entrenched in his ways of working. That's ok, but his customer service and attitude just suck. At first, I thought it was an act and was amusing, but it was not an act, and it was not funny at all. His macho, bro-like attitude, permeates everything that is said in the shop. As a liberal gay man, I felt like I was in a time, warp and taken back into the Reagan-era 80s. The constant misogynist jokes and racial innuendos were really hard to take. He berated nearly every African-American political leader with the implicit suggestion that it was because of their race. Everything culminated one day when a guy came into get a haircut for his wedding. The owner gave some unsolicited marriage advice to him. His advice was that the customer needed to start the marital relationship by showing his wife who the boss was and by giving her a good beating. Yes, you read that correctly! Whether this was a joke or not, I was appalled and have never returned. I'll never spend another dime in the shop and regret that I didn't tell the owner how I felt. read more

Nope. The moment I opened the door, I was "greeted" with a sneer! The guy (Young) asked me very contemptuously if I had an appointment, to which I said yes. The barber said I was too early, probably because he thought my appointment was later than what I had initially scheduled it for. I was in fact 8 minutes early. He said: Either way you will have to wait because there is someone ahead of you" it was another guy who was about to open the door!! I left immediately. I was walking by and thought I might try to get a quick shape up. I step inside and don't get acknowledged right away even though there are only like 2 customers inside with an employee by the door. I asked what their hours were for the day (in case they had shortened holiday hours) and the barber just went "Why?" and didn't answer. Because I want a haircut, genius. I tell him I was looking to get a walk-in later and he gives a snarky remark about how I can but I'll have to wait. I don't mind if they're busy or have a wait, of course. However, you should hopefully be able to communicate that without sounding annoyed that I want to spend money at your business. I guess I just expect a basic level of customer service that clearly wasn't there. read more

Awesome place overall. I've gone to all three barbers and have been happy every time. Affordable prices and good conversation. Catch is, you need to know there hours and when they'll be busy. Popular place so holidays and after work can be packed. On there website they have a live feed that updates every 20 seconds which is helpful. I wouldn't recommend calling to ask if they're busy or not. Like any barber, they won't know who is about to walk in. I've seen 10 people walk in in a matter of 5 minutes. Not many barber shops in Federal hill seemed to have yelp reviews when I first moved here. I tried a few different places over the first year, and once I stopped here I knew my search was over. The guys here are up to date with what men are looking for with a modern hair cut (and shave), with the additional bonus of great conversation. Just got off the phone with this barber shop. Some of the worst customer service I have ever received. As I asked for an appointment he kept saying they didn't have any, that is until I inquired about the next 4 days did he finally say they only have appointments on Saturdays. Next, he told me not to come too late because they give poor quality haircuts as the day progresses. Too bad they didn't want the business. The place looks run down and will probably close it doors in the next 3 months. read more
