When did we stop getting manicures because we wanted "fancy" nails? Why do we have to insist on it with each finger nail service? It's been a while since I've had a proper manicure unprompted. Thanh at Light Street Nail Salon is thorough. She MANICURES my nails like they're going for inspection. At each visit, whenever I think she's finished, she'd hold my hand up and do more checking, nipping, massaging etc etc etc My only concern is my cuticles don't like to be snipped especially during the cold months. They retaliate like SHXT and I'm left with hangnails which is so tempting to cut but then when will the vicious cycle end? I digress The salon is small and tidy the techs and customers mature. It's truly a space where you can unwind, scroll your apps uninterrupted or engage in some small chit chat. I like the space. They're also affordable and don't use gimmicks to hike up their prices. Did a walk- in here on a weekday to get a pedicure. We were in and out and about an hour. It was an ok pedicure, nothing special unless you pay for a higher package, but was good enough for what we needed. The place was clean and they had a good tabs of polishes, regular and gel. read more

Found my place! While some of the other nail places I tried did good jobs and had great customer service, they all ended with broken nails or didn't last very long. Light Street Nail Salon to the rescue! It's a small shop on Light St that gets a lot of business so make an appointment. Also there's street parking but I'm sure it's harder to find during busy shopping days in the area. I've figured out what works for me and have had no issues. Rude, unprofessional, poor customer service unless you are one of their favorite people. I was a frequent/very regular customer of this nail salon last year but stopped coming after I was told I could not book another appointment after I cancelled an appt and called to notify them hours in advance. What's worse was that they initially let me schedule the appointment and then called and told me they were going to cancel it bc the time slot was not available. I tried to get another time slot and that's when they said I could not book another appt. I decided to give them another chance. Tina did my nails and is very nice. However, some staff are rude, condensing, have nasty attitudes, and I believe are prejudice. 1) I asked the young nail tech if I could use some nail polish remover bc I was trying on nail polish. She said "you mean acetone" I said yes. Hesitantly, she said "sure but be careful" ??????? 2) Tina shaped my nails very nice was patient with me. I got regular polish. Which seemed to irritate everyone. However, she did not paint the nails good (multiple coats, missed edges/sides of nails, the shiny coat was dull, nail polish on skin). I pointed this out and her respond is that it won't be prefect bc it's not gel nails. I've been getting my nails done for years - I know the drill. 3) Tina left and I asked the young nail tech if I could talk to her because she spoke the best English. Rudely, she said "ok what is it?" I told her I wasn't happy with the polish and if any anything could be done. She said, "did you ask the tech before she left? Why didn't you tell her?" I told her I did. SHE TURNED AND WALKED AWAY. I immediately told an older tech that this young lady needs to check herself and her nasty attitude and that she was was being rude. They same older tech cleaned up my nails (thank God) but repeatedly made it seem as if it was my fault and that I should do gel instead. I don't want to do gel. 4) I asked the older tech if she was going to address the customer service issue with the younger tech - she asked me what the tech did. I told her. The young tech interrupted said in a very rude and nasty tone - I'm not a manager so I can't address that and it was done by someone else. I told her to check her tone and show some respect. That was NOT the way to talk to the customer. 5) I sat for my nails to dry for 30-40 mins. No rush for me. Usually I wait till I'm ready and leave. The older tech told me I could leave now, but just don't tap my nails on anything bc they were not dry??? I asked her if I could stay under the fan until they dry? She said yes I don't want you to get a parking ticket. My meter was paid, it's free after 8, and another woman was in the chair. I told her all this and then She said I could stay. 6) I heard another customer saying she would be late and need to cancel an appt bc Of traffic with the game. She was not told that she could not book another appointment. This is just my experience, I won't be back. read more

I liked how there was a good mix of both young and older nail technicians, and it was easy to talk to them since they were so friendly and helpful. They helped me choose a nail color and suggested decorative elements since I don't usually get my nails done and I was unsure. While it took a little long for the manicure, it was more due to the almond nail shape I wanted plus the glitter nail and glitter fade accent. Have been twice in the last month or so- both Times have been a great experience. Made a same day apt and got in at the apt time. Takes about an hour to get my dip manicure but it is WELL worth the extra time. They are detailed oriented and really make sure you get exactly what you want. Lots of variety of colors and brands! Love all the OPI colors. Also they play Netflix shows so you're actually interested in what is playing VS just random tv channels. read more

I went in for a soak off & dip powder service. The first person looked at the second person & both walked to the back . A third came up & said Hello, how can I help you?. I said Hello & asked for the service. At this point I'm in a circle of 5 people 1 says do you want tips? I said no these are my natural nails. A completely different person comes from the back and says I can take you here come sit. Recognizing the commotion I asked what was the charge before I went over. I got my nails done here for the first time a little over a month ago. I got an ombré dip powder manicure (blue and white) and all ten of my nails are still pristine! Obviously my nails have grown out but the part that I had done is still intact which is crazy to me since I'm used to chipping my manicures within a week or two of getting them. Not only that, but I can't tell you how many compliments I've gotten on this manicure (the most recent being yesterday). I tried this nail salon after being unimpressed with a visit earlier this year to a different nail salon in the area. I still think everything I said here is true, but my opinion of the quality has changed after going elsewhere. Great nail salon with super nice and talented technicians I got a full set of acrylics and my friend got a normal manicure The woman was very helpful picking out colors and was great about communicating with me about what I wanted The downsides: my nails are a little funky They look great overall, but there are some that don't point straight and some that look like they are filed unevenly These things I didn't really notice until I examined them out of the salon They were very nice and stayed open for us, we got in at 6:30 and left at 8 they close at 7:30 And two women walked in after 7:30 and they were very welcoming I will definitely come back, but might pay more attention next time to make sure my nails are 100% perfect My full set with normal polish and an accent design was $32 before tip read more

Great spot. I was attended by Q. She was extremely thorough in asking me my preferences in regards to my nails. She was accommodating to each and every single one of my requests, with no sass, no attitude, nothing. She took her time and made it a priority to ensure that I was fulfilled with each and every detail. I have never experienced such outstanding customer service from a salon, like I did at this salon. I won't be going back. There's no customer service they just want your money the easiest way possible. They do the dip polish (dip acrylic) on everyone. I wanted a Gel Full set and the woman argued with me (in the nicest way possible) for and hour I didn't even enjoy my pedicure because she was frustrating me . I settled for the Dip and it still wasn't what I wanted I wanted my nails to be a dark copper and rose gold. I ended up with black and pink with silver chrome.....when she was doing the silver she told me the original chrome I picked out in the swatch was cheap and it wasn't shiny like a mirror...,but Why not let me know that before you made me sit for 2hours getting something I didn't want . I was not happy. I let her finish paid & tipped her $20 for all her time (3hrs is forever) and then I rushed to work which I was 20min late for.
