Plumbing : I had a leak in my service water line coming into the house. The leak was in the front yard in a PVC pipe crossing under my walkway leading to the porch. The plumber spent a total of 5 hours plus a return after digging was done (2 service calls). 2 laborers spent 8 hours digging/refilling the holes. My generous calculations being familiar with going rates: 2 service calls at $150 each-----------$300 5 hr plumber at $120/hr---------------$600 16 hr laborers at $30/hr---------------$480 Materials------------------------------------$100 --------- $1480 total (padded amt) I was charged $2,174, the unfortunate fact is most plumbing needs are near emergency and you are at the plumbing companies' mercy and they most charge accordingly. They knew what needed to be done and what supplies would be required. When the tech got here, he had to go to Home Depot to purchase the supplies (not positively impressed). While the work was done correctly, it took him about 1.5 hours (inc. H-D) and the bill worked out to between $550 and $600 per hour (total bill almost $950). The techs get to set their own prices. Others had given me a phone estimate of about $300 plus parts with parts on the truck. I feel I was grossly over-charged and while they did great work back in 2017, never again. I don't like being taken advantage of. Money's too hard to come by for retirees. I DO NOT recommend these folks. Besides, the tech started getting pushy about getting the maintenance contract. Donovan is a great asset to the company. Personable, friendly, and installed 3 sinks. One had an several issues but he worked with my contractor and they resolved them. He deserves recognition, a pay raise and a promotion. I have told Lightfoot to put it in their notes he is the only one I want to come to my home to do any kind of work. I needed an emergency repair of my heat pump. Job well done albeit spendy. I paid for a periodic service against my own judgment. Turned out I was right. I scheduled a service for today. They promised to be at my residence sometime between 8:00 am and noon (vague enough). I got a message at 11:15 apologizing about being too busy handling emergency services. Please call to make other arrangements. If I don't go to work I don't get paid. I'm out wages and the work I paid them for didn't get done! I called and fired them on the spot. Lightfoot mechanical is a business of crooks. I had them come out to fix my water heater, that is under warranty, and was charged $581.00 for 2 labor hours. The tech lied on the invoice by stating he changed more parts than he did and by saying he left and went to Lowe's to get parts when he never left my house. The parts totaled $35. If you look at my invoice(attached pic) you will see there isn't a breakdown of service only a lump charge of $581.00. He pulled that number out of you know where and added services that weren't performed to justify charges! Lightfoot mechanical is NOT an ethical company. Crooks, crooks, crooks. BEWARE! ****Update- after my husband called and shredded a manager, we were given a $181.00 credit on this invoice. They cited a training issue. I haven't gotten it yet. We will see. Do not purchase any service contracts with Lightfoot. Bait & Switch: I was with them for 2 years. spring/fall service. A couple repairs over the years and service was performed adequately. Fall of 2024 I called to schedule my contractual fall service. They told me they no longer service my area and would not perform the contractual service. There was no previous notice of their cancellation in my area. I requested a refund for the remainder of the year I had paid for and was told they will not refund anything. They explained that any discounts I received for service work was more than the balance of the remaining contract, therefore no refund. Thats a RIP-OFF. They cancelled the contract not me, discounts were part of the contract and now you take those back. That's bait & switch. read more

We had just gotten an estimate that would be probably 450 plus sheetrock work from another well-rated plumber and we said we'll wait. Lightfoot Plumbing came out of an hour later and gave us a much cheaper estimate, there's a little more work than expected but stuck to the estimate. I loved the service man named Jarod. The young man did everything right...tried the easy ways first and then did the hard ways for the same price. His motto (repeated at least three or four times :-) was "we'll make it work," and he did! And he even covered up the hole it left in the sheetrock but the perfectly square piece of sheetrock he had cut out to work on it. We had a stove/range that we'd already paid enough for without adding a whole bunch to it to make the new electric stove fit almost flush against the wall, while a gas pipe was sticking out in the way before. Couldn't find leak, but found a capacitor Needed to be replaced but as it was turning into larger job & needed financing & still unable to find water leak with licensed plumbers believed flange needed replaced but not seen with camera. Turns out cracked toilet tank, leaking valve on water line. Quote was for $768.00 for toilet & install. Asked why toilet would be $600 if they would install was $170ish. No answer other than licensed plumber. Yes we knew toilet would be more to meet size requirement. Never received answer & no mention of capacitor for AC. Appointment set & No Showed us. All this took 6 weeks from beginning to canceling their service due to the bate & switch on the toilet. Save your money, do not get service agreement. Purchasing toilet on our own & will get installed or do myself and I am over 70. read more

Atlas plumbing which I was a long time customer was taken over by this company . I had two leaks and they took care of the refrigerator water line leak promptly and Foro did an excellent job of explaining and fixing the issue. His helper prevented him framing m fixing the sink stopper and advised me to contact Moen for replacement part on the sink stopper leak which has to wait until the right part is received. the refrigerator water valve was not replaced based on his expert opinion that is still good and only time would tell. overall I'm happy and satisfied with the repair done today. read more

My whole house water heater went out on Saturday. I looked up a certified Rinnai service tech and Lightfoot came up so I called and asked if they could send someone out but only if they had normal failure parts on hand. I was told they do have parts on the trucks. Emergency Saturday,Sunday after hours calls are $249 trip charge. This does not get applied to your repair. Regular hours trip charge is $89. I told them to send someone Monday. The tech was great but, the diagnosis was going to be $300, and parts and repair would be a flat $749. It turned out to be a $16 water flow sensor that fits several models. He didn't have it on hand and had to order it. So, to order it and come back it would cost me $89 for trip charge, $300 to diagnose (which consists of calling the help line of the manufacturer and going through a flow chart) and then $749 to come back and fix it. They should never have told me they had parts to fix it on the truck, and then say "well we have some parts" it's the call centers fault. I paid the $300 diagnostic fee, and the $89 trip charge (good thing I didn't have them come on the weekend for $249 trip charge) and said thanks. I learned a lot from this, and lost a days work, and several hundred dollars. I ordered the sensor online for $16 and had it shipped next day air for $30. Seems very excessive to charge those rates, there was no way around the $749 for a sixteen dollar part. By the way a new unit is $1,300 not including install. I understand business have to charge and be competitive but as a business owner myself I'm having a hard time understanding how they justify this. I must say the tech was very nice. read more

Contacted LFM and they were quick to give me an appointment, I had asked about rates which I was told was $89 to come over and it was implied that that cost would include some time. The answer was no. I explained my problem to the 2 very nice gentleman and was told he would give me the quote for the repair or at least for the first hour of troubleshooting, $288. Wait what, doesn't my $89 get me anything. Nope! That is there walk in the house fee, once they hear the problem they give you a ridiculous quote. I get everyone has to make money but 288 an hour, I mentioned this to the person I called to tell my concerns to, she said I am paying for special testing and equipment and experience. Lightfoot is definitely taking advantage of people, I work with contractors everyday and do not see craziness like this. Please ask for the full story before allowing them to come over, I just gave them $89 for 6 minutes of nothing. read more

Since when do "GOOD guys" have to announce to and try to convince the world that they are good guys? These guys are F#%!ing crooks. Where do I start? $380 for a rubber flapper toilet seal thing. It took me 30 minutes, $19.99 at home depot, and a YouTube video. They told me my entire HVAC system needed to be replaced ($4,000) when I called them out to blow out my secondary drain line and that it was frozen due to pet hair... WRONG. HOUK HVAC company came out advised me to remove the water that was standing under the unit and that it would unfreeze since the air was pulling moisture onto the cold coils and that was causing it to then freeze. I used my wet/dry vac, removed the water and the system has been running fine ever since. HOUK DIDN'T CHARGE ME A PENNY FOR THAT WHILE LIGHTFOOT CHARGED ME $300 to turn the system off, clean it, and just to have it freeze back up. THEN we have the $850 garbage disposal... for a $88.10 Badger 5 from Home Depot. THEN he said he would do it for $450. 20 minutes later after sitting in his truck he knocks on my door again and says he'll do it for $250... really? A $600 swing on a $88 garbage disposal? So feel free to say "NO!" to their extreme prices and they'll come back with a price that is lower than their initial 300% mark-up. "We're the good guys"? YEAH RIGHT! SINCE WHEN DOES A GOOD GUY HAVE TO SAY HE'S A GOOD GUY? When I called the office to talk to someone about my experience all the lady wanted to do was argue and then tell me about their different level of services and warranties on the $88 garbage disposal. NOTHING CAN EXPLAIN HOW YOU TELL A CUSTOMER $850 FOR A GARBAGE DISPOSAL JUST TO FINALLY COME DOWN TO $250... WHAT IF I HAD PAID THE $850? YOU "GOOD" GUYS WOULDN'T HAVE SENT ME A CHECK FOR $600!!! CROOKS AND DONT BE SCARED TO GET A SECOND OPINION BEFORE PAYING FOR THEIR SERVICES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HOUK HVAC FOR YOUR HVAC NEEDS. I used them last year when our whole house on-demand water heater stopped working. The problem was a flow sensor and accessing it was difficult. I decided to defer to the experts, I contacted Rinnai, and Lightfoot Mechanical said they would look at it. Now, I live out in the country and I don't expect people to drive a long distance to work for free. Good work costs money and I'm willing to pay for a problem to be fixed. This is where the problems arose. It took four or five trips, each with a service call fee, a diagnostic fee, and/or a parts fee. It didn't matter that the wrong part was received - whether incorrectly ordered or incorrectly sent. Every phone call to Rinnai incurred another "diagnostic fee" as they went through the troubleshooting process. In other words, one phone call equaled one diagnostic test. A second phone call was required for the next diagnostic test, and so on. I felt I was being "nickel and dimed" for what should have been a single service call. Ultimately, the problem was fixed and we came to an acceptable payment. So, would I use them again? Well, this is why I only gave a three star rating. I found the techs to be very professional and very nice. Everyone was prompt, courteous, and they worked to the best of their ability. My main issue was with their fees. What should have taken only two trips (at most) extended into many and cost nearly as much as a full heater replacement. As I said before, Lightfoot did right by me and I would use them again - but only after careful consideration at what it might cost given their fee structure. read more

I have severe COPD and right leg issue. Had done business with them before, on some plumbing, was good. My HVAC went out, and I checked the found the condenser motor failed. Told the technician that I wanted the motor replaced. Went out to the unit with him and showed him the issue. Gave me a quote of $1069.00, I was needing it done due to extremely hot, my breathing was suffering bad. He said you can't get the motor on line and he has one on the truck. You can get the Mars 10874 on line and elsewhere. The motor normally goes 200 to 250. Takes about 1.5 hours to do. My health would not allow me to do the repair. I knew what it needed, told him all I wanted. Went ahead had it done. This repair should in no way cost over 1,000.00. read more

They sent a younger less experienced kid I guess... solved NOTHING gone in 45m or less... sewage smell remains and another plumber diagnosed and identified problem in less than 30 minutes. Every time they've been back the plan that covered everything when they sold it to me suddenly covers nothing and if I want to add to the plan for a few hundred more that will cover it. We had a plumbing emergency late on Friday and and Lightfoot Mechanical was the people i could get out. They took care of the problem with no issue, They were really pushing their service plan that included two air conditioner tuneups (spring and fall) and an electrical and plumbing inspection. I was warned by others that the first thing they would do is try to sell me a new air conditioner. The tech did not disappoint. My air has been working fine with no problems. He was here 20 minutes and told me there were all kinds of problems and we needed a new unit. He said he could repair mine at a cost of over $9000. or for about $3000. more i could get a new unit. i was having no issues until Lightfoot came out. I guess being the first stop of the day he was trying to make all of his commission early. Do not use them unless you have an emergency and they re the only people you can get out. read more

Had used them in the past and they were very good. Called them out on Monday cause a new ac unit we bought in 2020 .Every year a part has to be replaced on this unit, other motherboard less then a year and they've given us the run around. I've had to call them to even try to see if they found the board ( which they said they couldn't and called 5 didn't places) and when I called was told oh thought you where ordering it on Amazon! Really like am going to take part and look for a number and order a part !.then was told would a call back never did. Called other ac company and funny how they found the part rt way. Their tech was new to them and did not carry all the inspection items on his check list even though I later found he had ticked all boxes. They quoted $2,500 to replace a gas water heater for a system I could buy with same warranty and manufacturer for $400. When I queried the cost with their head office, I got a very rude response. Steer clear of these people. They are very questionable. read more

Service charge was high and estimate on repair was ridiculously expensive! Service charge was over $200 higher than another company for same service performed. Bid for broken pipe under slab was approx. $22,500!!! Yes, you read that correctly! Was repaired by another company for less than $7000, which is about a third of the estimated repair cost from Lightfoot. Lightfoot has left my elderly mom stranded without hot water off and on for *days*. It's a different story every visit....the latest problem is that a previous Lightfoot employee installed the wrong regulator for a propane Rinnai system. Their after hours "emergency" number is useless. No one can come out and a manager will not return our call. All of this for a Platinum member that has spent tens of thousands of dollars with Lightfoot. This is bottom of the barrel customer service. read more

We were longtime customers but they got so expensive we decided to not renew the Total Care program. They sent out a tech to do the spring inspection. He asked if we wanted to renew the contract ($350) and when told no, it was too expensive, he "inspected" our 3 units an said all good. Actually one unit was not even working, breaker tripped, compressor out. Now replacing but using Gregg Air who are reasonable and efficient. Last year Lightfoot quoted a new unit that was $1500 above a competitor. Quoted $8300 for new ductwork, but got it done for $3250. They are all about the money and not the customer. read more

I called Atlas Plumbing and found they had been bought out by Lightfoot. Okay, I need someone to fix a leaky bathtub faucet. Timing was quick, plumbers were nice and used shoe covers before entering house. My first complaint is the OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH PRICE. The charge for what was essentially a thirty minute repair was $342. I was given the price up front and told that of that charge $17 was for parts. Now, second complaint: the lever faucet was installed so it turned the wrong way and I had to get them to return. Third complaint: the week after the work I got an expensive high gloss advertisement from them offering a $50 discount on repairs. Wish I'd had that when they came. I WILL NOT use these people again. read more

He said he would call and another tech would be dispatched to my home today. I called them back at 8:20 to confirm they were still coming out. They saw it in the system but no one was ever dispatched. They told me someone would be out between 9-10. They called me back at 8:50 to let me know I would be charged $250.00 after hours fee for their mistake. read more

Do not have this company do any plumbing for you! Had a leak under my pier and beam house in late 2022 and called them out for a quote. Was quoted about $4K for the repair or about $10.5 K for a complete repipe of incoming water. I contracted for the latter having a 60+ year old house. Took them a month of off and on work to complete the job (I thought). After they where paid and left i went to use my hose hook ups at the front of my house and they didn't work....was told it was "too difficult" to reach those pipes. They also left holes in my dry wall and several old pieces of galvanized pipe (trash) in place. They did come out put 1 piece of pipe with a bib in the front yard a foot away from the wall. Fast forward to yesterday have a major leak under my house call them back out. They tell me (after just over a year) that my warranty is out, try and charge me $400 a hour to pump the water out just to locate the leak. Shoddy work at inflated prices. Stay away. read more
