Compared The Plumb Hero with 3 other plumbers, and all had about the same pricing, but The Plumb Hero co-owner, Jaron, noticed a potential fire hazard from the same piping that was installed on the water heater, and replaced it with the copper piping that is required by code, as well as installing an expansion tank on the heater, all included in my original quote. Most importantly to me, after installing the proper copper piping on the water heater, he was honest when he told me that the old water heater piping didn't look bad, which assuaged my concern about having to re-pipe the entire house at this time. This honesty in a world of scammers was refreshing and really appreciated. Have already recommended this company to all of my neighbors. The other 3 other highly recommended plumbers on Yelp, all with 4.5 stars and up, all seemed knowledgeable and friendly, but I went with The Plumb Hero because they got back to me the fastest with the quote--same day as the inspection--and I could tell Jaron really loves what he does. Thank God my husband and I were home for the day when I realised there was no hot water prompting us to step into the garage to find the hot water heater on fire, requiring a fire extinguisher and a call to 911 plus it was leaking everywhere. I attempted to contact him by phone with 12-15 calls in total from multiple numbers, text messages (a number he previously texted me on) and emails through his website where I have been left with no response still to this day. Both the unit and his work were still under warranty (an additional cost I paid directly to him) I expected some response considering his highly recommended status locally, instead I was left with paying another plumber to install a new hot water heater less than a week before Christmas. Additionally, I have been left to fight with the manufacturer to warranty the heater which resulted in receiving less than a $400 refund from the company when his work and the unit should have been fully covered under the purchased warranty resulting in full replacement. I paid $2300 for the unit, work and an additional warranty to only find out with the equipment used was subpar (likely purchased on some discount or discontinued item list) and the lack of updated piping and pressure valve (20 yr old home) should have only cost me roughly $1000. Not to mention the fact he did not properly install/wire the unit hence sparking the fire, I could have lost my pets, home and all the contents within. Now weeks later still no response from Mark or anyone else from Leader plumbing assuming there is anyone else besides him after two certified letters also mailed. A reputable businessman I am finding he is NOT from interactions I have had to try and locate him and ensure warranty of the work and item installed.
