I'm a little sad to make this review, I came here last summer and it was great. I especially loved a woman who worked there. She was so polite, happy, caring and she really just made the whole place have a great feel. This August I came back to visit Dauphin Island and I didn't see the woman this time but the entire atmosphere was just NOT polite and happy at all. It's like they didn't even care to have my service... no smiles, and even an attitude when I asked for mayo on a breakfast sandwhich I got. Then this is the weirdest thing that happened.. I was waiting by the car for my friend to come back out and the camper parked behind the bakery someone lives in the house and camper and I was screamed at by the crazy woman living there when I was by my car on the lighthouse bakery property! She definitely seemed to be on drugs. I don't even know what she was screaming and yelling but over all the experience this last time was not at all it and the coffees/food were very overpriced and weren't even that great. :( so I'm bummed because I was really excited to come back here and it was a disappointment all the way around. read more

This is a quaint family owned bakery that has lots of homemade options. The cinnamon roll is a must have as it is super flavorful, full of cinnamon and lots of love. I enjoyed being greeted by the kind staff as they made time to listen to ask where we were visiting from and let us sign the visitors book. We make it Dauphin Island once a year and this is a breakfast spot that we never miss. Actually, there aren't really too many options for the morning meal! The food is good, especially the bacon twist. All of the sweet things are huge and extra decadent. Of course the cinnamon rolls are great, as are the pecan rolls. There's not anything too unique about them, except that they are extra sweet and super messy. Is it possible for something to be too sweet? If so, this is it. The coffee isn't anything notable. You're probably better off to make your own back at the condo/hotel/house. The biggest problem is how crowded everything is. It's not obvious where the line is and it's IMPOSSIBLE to stay socially distant here. Everything is different in COVID-19 life and this spot isn't well suited for that challenge. There is a cute porch, though. If the weather cooperates, you should try to grab a spot on the porch. read more

A bit disappointed in both the quality of the pastry and the service this time. The specific pastry selection we made from the case was not the pastry we were given in our to go bag. Absolutely the best food we have had a far on Dauphin Island! Great little stop to ride your bikes to while her. My husband had their pecan cinnamon roll and a latte. I had their crab omelette with tomatoes, green onions, and cheddar cheese. I think this omelette change my life. Simply delicious! Packed with fresh crab and cooked to perfection. I think this is the only cafe on the island, unless you count the waffle bar. Came in at 2 o'clock on a Saturday and they were almost completely wiped out on pastries, but I came for coffee. I got a hot "maple spice" oatmilk latte and it's definitely one of the best lattes I've had! Also got a small loaf of french bread, which was very good. Very kind workers, everyone's got great customer service and greeted us right as we walked in. And the shop is cute! Pretty decor, and clean bathrooms. read more

You step out of your car and the smell is there. No mistaking this bakery. Very quaint place that is only open W, T, S, and S. Line inside but the wait was not bad. Ordered to eat there - small cinnamon pecan roll, cranberry pecan muffin and oatmeal raisin muffin. Milks for us both. Chose a pew type bench on the porch and a young lady brought our food to us. It was wonderful. Happy to be there and very friendly customers coming and going. This was a Sunday morning in early March. Really nice place to relax and enjoy a real treat. read more

Wonderful service and exceptional food. This one of the food places on the Island that are beyond friend to locals AND tourist. I can't even explain how absolutely amazing their food is. Their hazelnut turnover- divine. My sister loved hers so much she went back the very next day. My favorite was the peach cream cheese danish. First danish I've ever had where the cream cheese goes to the edge. I ate way more than I care to admit. The prices are very reasonable, the hospitality is exceptional. Besides the ocean I'll miss from vacation this places comes in second (barely). I will be dreaming of their food for awhile. Must visit if you're on the island. read more

Found this cute little spot on our way down to take the ferry across to Fort Morgan. Didn't know how we felt as pulled up as it looked like a cute little house on the corner but did not see any cars. We decided to head inside any way and so glad we did. We were greeted by a very friendly staff and good selection of food. I personally ordered the chicken salad sandwich which I normally don't do because I'm very picky when it comes to that sandwich but they nailed it. I ate every bite of it doesn't o licking each finger. Inside was quaint and cozy, with the staff it felt like I was home and my grandma was fixing me some lunch. On the wall as we left it said "come in as guest, leave as family," and that is exactly what it felt like coming here. If you're headed through, give it a try, you won't regret it. read more

Walked into this cute place 30 minutes before closing on a Saturday afternoon. They were so kind to serve us and allow us to eat in the dining room. Nice service, cute decor and a hometown vibe. I've heard about the Lighthouse Bakery for years but never seemed to be awake on vacation early enough to make it by. This year my cousin & I decided to make the special trip. The bakery was packed however, the wait didn't take very long even considering the amount of people in line. They were out of regular cinnamon rolls which was fine because there are plenty of delicious items to choose from. However, I do recommend the earlier you go, the better. We purchased a variety of items so we could try them all and we were not disappointed. I'm not often a sweets person but the freshness combined with the softness of all the Danishes we tried was unbeatable. I highly recommend making the Lighthouse Bakery a stop on your trip to Dauphin Island and make sure you pick up one of their funny & clever souvenir shirts! read more

Something has changed since the last time we were here. We were not given the pastry we selected from the case. The cinnamon roll was stale and they didn't offer to heat it up.
