I have been a Lighthouse customer for 10 years but finally getting around to writing a review since I am becoming familiar with Yelp. I was only at the Route 9 store once so my comments are focused on the Airport Plaza store. The humidor is spacious, well stocked and environmentally well maintained. Every time I walk into that room, which is floor to ceiling, front to back stocked with varieties from every price range, style, wrapper and legal country (Cuba some day, hopefully), I'm like a kid in a candy store. Ralph, the owner, is always friendly and willing to help me find the latest and popular smokes. You're never rushed towards your selections and there's plenty of space for you to enjoy your cigar right there in the store. There's a TV in the back room if you want to watch a show or sport with excellent ventilation. For those who like to play the lottery, you can get your fix here too. Being from Staten Island I drove down to Hazlet to check out a local coin shop and long behold I saw the cigar shop..The place was amazing. They had every brand that I could imagine and I'm a very picky individual. Pricing was very fair and they had in-house smoking which made it great. Very high scale shop, many sticks are $20 to $30 per, but the stick i got fell apart in my hand, i dont like to handle cigars and squeeze them, should not have to, be careful here folks read more

This is one if the best places to go for cigars. The humidor is always clean, neat and stocked well. The wide range of prices, types, and origin is great. If you have a question, you get it answered. I'm giving them a 3 based on the negative customer service reviews. There were two guys there, one older, one younger, seemed nice, no problem. As for the shop, it was OK, small but nice humidor room. The only thing I would tell them is they should have it better organized, I think by country. The more popular brands should be front and center. However, it was doable. I stayed in my lane and bought 2 brands that I am familiar with, and 1 that I was not, 5 stogies in total. Compared my bill with the online prices of them, and they were sixteen bucks over, not pleased! A white montecristo was 4 bucks more than what I normally pay, and I left it right there. If I'm in a pinch, and my humidor gets low, and I need a couple to get by, I'll go back! read more

This place is less than 5 minutes away from my house, yet I drive 15 minutes to go get my cigars in Matawan. Why? Because the people who work here, mainly the lady at the counter, are some of the nastiest, insulting, rudest people you will ever do business with. The first time I went in, I asked if they had a specific brand and the man at the counter simply responded with, " I don't know"-- no offer to look for me, or ask someone else. I also understand that they have to card younger customers, but when I came into the store several times in a two-week span, and dealt with the same worker who very rudely asked for my ID each time, that was enough for me. The last time I went, as I showed my license I joked, "I was just here the other day." She looked at me with this snarl and nastily said, "Oh, were you?" I vowed that I would never go in there again. They lost me as a customer, as well as many of my friends who also smoke cigars and now go to Matawan as well. read more
