When we first met Chad back in May 2021, we were looking to get some low lighting in the front & back yard. Chad was very knowledgeable as my wife and I did not know much about low lighting. Chad gave us a lot different choices and he recommended Phillips Hue system that gave more variety with colored effects than just white lighting. He came back a few times with ideas until we made a decision. We installed the system in January 2022 and for the first few months the system was great! However a few months later we started getting issues with the cabling and Chad came back out to diagnose the issue and resolved it. Every few months we were having issues with the system which was very disheartening as it was an expensive system and the issue was the cabling and Chad no longer promoted Phillips Hue after our experience. We are still having issues with the system it was usually in the back yard but the past 2 times it has been in the front yard. When I have contacted Chad he has been responsive and I usually have to wait around 2-3 weeks until he was able to come out and fix the problem. In October 2024 we had another issue with some of the lights flickering and sometimes it doesn't switch on. I contacted Chad and it took a couple of texts to get a response saying he would be unavailable for 2 weeks but he would be in touch to come and look at the issue. It's been more than 6 weeks and he hasn't still responded to any of mine or my wife's text or messages, as we were concerned of his well being after silence. He has completely gone silent and it is unlike him not to reply but we have been left stranded and ignored. We would have preferred for him to respond and say no I can't keep coming to fix the issue rather than just to be ignored. We regret putting the Phillips Hue system and wish we just put in white lights and my wife + we feel very disappointed and let down with Chad also considering we gave him some work at our HOA. We are all about helping folks and promoting good work. Chad is a great guy, we are sorry our system is problematic but he charges to come and fix issues, we are disappointed to be left stranded with silence to texts, emails and messages. This is not the way you treat a good customer and we felt he was not happy coming to fix the issues as it was every few months, which is unheard of. We are very disappointed in Phillips Hue. We were not about to change the system again to just simple white lights after spending thousands. We now find someone else to help resolve the issue. We wish Chad would at least support the failures and help us rather than having us restart the process with a new professional. It saddens me to write this review as if you look at my reviews they are always generally positive but this experience is one we needed tor share for awareness. read more

Can I give 10 stars??? I could not be happier with the service from lighting republic. They showed up on time, with masks, and ready to work. I needed installation of a huge 200lb chandelier, on a ceiling over 25 feet. I spoke with Chad on FaceTime to give him a visual of the ceiling height, and the specs of the chandelier, and he provided me with a very fair quote within 1 business day. The crew that came out, could not have been more knowledgeable, friendly, or professional if they tried. They safely set up scaffolding, and made sure that my ceiling could hold the weight. Ensured the electricity was working well, secured extra mounting, to be extra cautious ( we live in earthquake central/ southern ca) and hung up the chandelier; based on the height I desired. They then took the time to hang the gazillion crystals that accompany the chandelier, in gloves, avoiding getting them smudged! It was a tedious job, and I can't imagine going with anyone else. If you want to make sure your chandelier is hung top notch, and not going to come down in an earthquake.. go with these guys!! Pricing was very on point ( I called around and got numerous quotes). Prior to the start of work, Chad gave me two estimates- one in case the junction box was plastic and needed to be replaced and a second if the junction box was metal. Chad is Awesome, great guy to deal with always upbeat and super optimistic (in a great way). I had him do a main panel upgrade and run a 100A subpanel to a detached garage. It looked like a fairly straight forward project. It turned out to be an incredibly difficult undertaking. Turns out under a bunch of the dirt for the trench there was concrete. The spot we wanted to put the panel was concrete filled cinder block. Main electrician (Ron, awesome guy) had a family emergency. I can keep going on. But the end is this Chad and his team took all the difficulties and rolled with them, and did a fantastic job. Inspection was passed on the second try, and I am thrilled with the results. The final price, was the initially contracted price, no surprises. Although low voltage landscape is only part of what they do, it's clear that Chad is an expert. Not only is he professional, but he is wonderful to work with. We contacted Lighting Republic with a challenging situation: our backyard area and deck had been wired for lighting by the previous homeowner, but many of the wires and fixtures were disconnected or broken, and the design didn't suit the space. Chad responded to our inquiry quickly and came out to look at what we had. He shared his recommendations with us and talked through different possibilities for a redesign. Chad provided a detailed proposal, built around LED landscape lighting and a smart app controlled transformer, and he guided us in selecting new fixtures that would work nicely with the design of our house. The installation followed shortly after we finalized the plans, and Chad took care of everything, including removing the old hardware and showing us how to use the app to control our new lighting. These guys are great. I had a couple of old lights that just gave out in the kitchen. I wanted to convert them to LED lights and was about to do it myself until I met an electrician who had just suffered an electrical burn injury.
