What a fantastic lighting store servicing the Cameron Park area. They are a showroom that does a lot of work with designers and businesses that operate during normal work hours (ie. 9a-5p Mon-Fri) but they also take care of the public's lighting needs. The place has been under new management since 2019. They have both indoor/outdoor, modern and contemporary, bath vanities, ceiling fans, anything for interior lighting! If you don't see anything in their showroom, you can always check out their HUGE website www.lightingu.com or ask one of the ladies working there, they are super nice. Juanita is great and helped me pick the perfect ceiling fan for my dining room. They also have pottery! Cant believe Ive never been in here before, I pass by almost every day. read more

is this place a front for some kind of criminal enterprise?! What retail store catering to home owners who likely work would not be open on Saturday (or after 5pm for that matter)?! I have been in here once before and noticed that they have a good selection of lighting, however everything is over priced. I need a lamp on short notice because mine just went out and I don't have time to have one shipped to me before Thanksgiving. Not impressed with this place. They are way to busy with other things than help customers even with an appointment! They came highly recommended to me so I was excited to get a quote and get the ball rolling for our new construction. I had an appointment to see Kathy, but during that appointment which was held up because she was so busy, I was passed off to Michelle, and it was her first day there. After three visits and MANY emails back and forth, I was no further along than when I first walked in. Fast forward two months to selling my house, which needed updated outdoor lamps. I emailed Kathy and she responded with a couple questions. I answered them and sent pictures but never heard back, so I called and left a message. Still no response. I must be one of those that "slips through the cracks", but my opinion of this place is pretty low. read more

I hate writing this review because I try to support small, local businesses over the big box stores. I've ordered products three times from this store over the last decade. Every single order had an issue. Poor quality control standards, missing parts, defective pieces, refund problems, and poor customer service while attempting to fix the issues. Okay, I have to admit. Im shocked to find this company has any less than 4 star reviews. Let me describe my experience. I keep driving by the store and meaning to stop by, but it closes at 5 and businesses that close at 5 are inconvenient for me as an average home consumer. That is my one small gripe, but I also understand as a business owner the challenges that come with trying to find hours that make the most profit. (psst 9am-7pm in this case) But that is the only thing I can find to complain about! I was greeted in the parking lot while checking out the pots by a gentleman that offered to unpack a new shipment for me right there on the spot if I saw anything that caught my fancy. The prices were better than Green Acres and I actually saw a couple of unique pots I havent seen anywhere else. Ive been all over ElDorado and Sacramento County looking for a really big pot. Then I went inside and....wow. It is a gorgeous showroom with beautiful lighting! I moved here from Carlsbad, CA so finding a store like this in Cameron Park was quite surprising. For just a few moments I felt I was back in a land of taste and style.. LOL The ladies helped me find something perfect for my vanity which was a huge challenge because Im dealing with some shiny brass trim that was dated when it was installed. I think this fixture will totally tie everything together! On top of that, as we browsed options they came across the one Id narrowed in on after extensive searching, but it was 600+ dollars so I havent been able to bring myself to buy it.. and even though they could tell I liked it, they didnt hard sell me, they showed me another option that was almost 1/3 of the price that works even better. I really appreciate that. I like supporting local businesses.. but I have to admit after I read one of the last reviews, I looked up the fixture online to see what kind of a deal I could get.. well, in this case it is the same exact price as the lowest one on wayfair and Im a pretty saavy web bargain hunter. Id rather order local. Im pretty sure you wont find a better selection of lighting in the area. Maybe I have missed someplace, but Ive been from here to roseville looking for lighting (and furniture). Stopping here would have saved me a ton of driving. read more

We have had several great experiences at this store. The most recent was during our kitchen remodel this spring/summer. We knew exactly what we wanted but were on a very tight timeline as we were acting as general and our subcontractors had minimal float in their schedules. Our orders for pendant fixtures, switches, outlets and other electrical items all came in before expected. We promptly received a call to pick up and our order was already checked and safely repackaged. Everyone was very courteous and accommodating. We will certainly be back as we always seem to have a new project and love our statement lighting! read more

I just had the most wonderful experience with Lighting Unlimited. I had an entryway light fixture that I was struggling to install. Mark, the electrician at Lighting Unlimited was so responsive and helpful. His pricing was beyond reasonable and he was quick, efficient and just a super nice guy! The associates that answered the phone, Michelle being one of them, were all very helpful and friendly toward me. I also feel the need to say that everyone was wearing masks the two times I was in the store. I highly recommend anyone to check out their beautiful showroom or call on Mark for any lighting needs! Poor or really no customer service. My husband and I came all the way from Elk Grove because this place came recommended. 3 women were working and not one greeted us or asked if they could assist. We walked all through their store for at least 15-20 minute and all they did was discuss their personal business. On our way out we had to pass them and that's when they were forced to say something which was simply "thank you for coming in." We had money burning a hole in our pocket looking for a nice chandelier for our brand new home but it was clear they did care about selling anything to us. read more

Went there for the ceramic pottery. Amazing pieces for the best price around! I researched stores from Sac to Shingle Springs, their prices & quality could not be beat. Super friendly & helpful staff. David got two super heavy pieces into my car & he went above & beyond to make sure they were steady & safe for my drive home. I will be back! read more

Excellent experience here. I'd previously bought light fixtures from the box stores and I guess you get what you pay for. My wife and went here to get a new chandelier for Christmas. I left work early and raced to Lighting Unlimited knowing I would only have a few minutes before they closed, but I know exactly what I want, so I wasn't too concerned. After fighting downtown Sac & Hwy 50 traffic fro 50 minutes, I made it to the the parking lot at 4:48 (per my cell phone). They close at 5. I get to the door, and it is locked. An older lady opens the door....no hello, no greeting, nothing. Just a "if you are not here to pick something up then we are leaving early today" and she proceeds to close the door in my face. This lady acted like I was inconveniencing her by showing up 12 minutes before closing, and there are too many options out there to deal with this type of service, so I will spend my money elsewhere. read more

Today I went to look at this store for a kitchen remodel. As I walked into the store there was a sign on the outside of the store to wear a mask and social distancing of 6ft. I had on my mask as it's state mandate to wear one in a public place. Out of the 6 people (which appeared to be working at the store) I saw in the store who all appeared to be chatting and sitting or standing near each other none were wearing mask. As one employee sitting at a desk saw me with a mask she did put one on. All 6 people looked at us a few said can we help you. I stood for a few minutes waiting to see if anyone else would put on a mask as I walked into the store more and no one did. I decided to leave not before saying you have guidelines on the front door of your business and your not wearing a mask shame on you. I couldn't believe this store is not following the guidelines that they have posted on the front door of their business. There are stylist, barbers and other businesses who can't open or have to work outside in the hot sun but this place chooses not to follow the rules they have placed on the front door. Shame on them I would not recommend going here since they can't follow the rules and regulations put in place. read more

Don't cheap out - go here for great lighting for your home. If you enjoy replacing fixtures every few years, by all means go to a big box store. But if you want great advice and quality, trouble-free lighting go to Lighting Unlimited. For instance, the 5 under-cabinet florescent fixtures we bought from Lighting Unlimited have worked wonderfully for the last 3 years. No flickering, no yellowing of the plastic enclousure. Just today, 3 years later, I've finally had to replace my first burnt-out bulb in one of these fixtures. The fixtures these 5 replaced (contractor-supplied inexpensive ones) regularly burnt out bulbs - about 1 every 3 months, and eventually the covers became so brittle they shattered. read more

So, I was looking to buy some exterior lights... lots actually... $850 worth. I was going to order them online, but one of the 3 different styles I needed was not in stock. Then I remembered that this place is right down the street from me. I stopped in there a couple years ago and I know I left empty-handed, feeling quite surprised about their poor customer service, but I really couldn't remember anything else about the visit. I do like to support local businesses, so I decided to give them another shot and see if I could order everything from them. They didn't carry one of the brands I wanted though, so the two women working there (who were being very nice and helpful) looked to see if they had something similar. The older of the two, whom I suspect was a manager, found something kind of similar to the one I wanted and then assumed it would work for me. Meanwhile, the younger one asked if I wanted to order the first two styles, that they did carry. I say, "Well, could you tell me the price please?". She looks... $78 each. "Oh", I reply, "The site I was going to order them from has them for $49 w/ free shipping." I was really saying it more to myself and I feel like it was clear I wasn't prompting them for a response. I started to consider the actual difference in the total bill and how much extra I was willing to pay to support a local business, but the manager lady saved me the trouble, interrupting my thoughts with, "Well, you better go buy them there then!" Her attitude changed in the blink of an eye and the snarky look on her face seemed to suggest that I had insulted her personally! I won't make the mistake of going in there a third time. read more
