Good service and good quality from Lihue Nail Spa! Since I rarely get my nails done, I don't have much experience with salons. That said, Peter (who I assume is the owner) did a nice job on my full set of gel nails. Only Peter and one other lady were working the morning I went which made it quiet and relaxing. With the falling rain outside, I almost fell asleep! Peter also did polish on my toes which was a little sloppy but I knew the polish on my skin would wash off in the shower. He stepped out for about 20 min so I didn't want to wait to ask him to clean it up. For a full set of gel nails and polish only on my toes, it was $83. Is this pricey?? Again, I have minimal experience with nails. Definitely make an appointment since it's a small shop. read more

Went here to have my acrylic nails filled. I found the male owner that did my nails to be very cocky and overbearing. He was trying to tell jokes that were inappropriate and didn't make sense. I also felt that it was very unprofessional that they had their "baby" there running around while him & his wife were trying to service the customers. I kept breaking gel nails and having partial acrylic tips put on then gel over them....they weren't looking good. They got me in right away but they use the dremel tool to take off the gel polish. This means that your nail may get thinner. Truly it was a horrible experience, they did not do the nail design I wanted. Not only that you can tell that they only work on square nails because my almond nails turned out horribly. The young girl was grumpy. I asked for white, she said no you don't want white and painted them pink! I asked her if the pink will turn white? So, she did repaint them white, but was grumpy. I didn't dare ask for them to be cut shorter...they are too long! She didn't seem like she wanted to be there. The owners are great. I wish they had a better ventilation system though. I had broken a nail and needed it fixed. We drove to them just to find the doors locked at 1230pm and when someone walked up, she was they were very busy and all filled but. But then proceeded to say she had to pick up her kids. Understand that one nail being fixed isn't as great as doing a full set but it's not like I was asking for everything. The massage chairs were nice, the woman that did my pedicure did a great job and they even had a little plastic cover that pulled down around me so I could enjoy a soda during my pedicure. I was in the mood for a quick manicure. Almost splurged $35 to have it done at Alexander's Spa at the Kauai Marriott, but they had no immediate appointments available. I remembered seeing this nail salon when grabbing ice cream at Skinny Mike's at Harbor Mall so I decided to give it a shot. I was greeted promptly and was seated at the nail station within 10 minutes even though all three technicians were occupied. Place was pretty quiet and deserted otherwise. Pretty no nonsense manicure. My technician was pleasant but heavy handed and energetic with trimming my cuticles. No blood was drawn - several of my nail beds feel a little tender though where she snipped off a bit too much skin. Every other part of the manicure was done well. Good shaping, tidy polish application, great hand massage, and my polish dried within five minutes of being under the drying station. Cost of manicure was $17 plus a little over 4% of sales tax. I was looking at their price lists and the services were about $5 more than what I would see charged on the mainland for similar service. Overall a good place for a no frills mani if you're in the Lihue area. read more

WOW! I am completely guilty of selfishly NEVER taking the time to post a review but I MADE myself sit down for this because this business absolutely deserved it. I loved to Kaua'i in April from Seattle and was desperately needing something done with my feet. I like to walk around everywhere barefoot so it's essential to have my toes painted so you can't see how much dirt and funk are under the nails! Lol. I walked in and was told that a shellac pedicure would cost me $50. I was shocked at the price but decided to go through with it because they REALLY needed done and maybe this was just typical Hawaii prices. I proceeded to have the absolute best pedicure I have ever received. BY FAR. No, they didn't do all the little fancy fancy things that make it appear like you are getting quality work... they just did extreme quality work. Like ACTUALLY pushing back the cuticles instead of pretending to with the metal utensil. And truly taking great care with shaping the nails and cutting the cuticles and REALLY doing by far the best job I have ever had in my 31 years on this planet. And I have had A LOT of pedicures in my life-time. So weirdly enough... the $50 seemed totally worth the high quality work. I would happily pay that to know that I am truly going to have incredible toe-nails that last a super long time. I also think that this shellac job is going to last extremely long, she did a lot of prep work and I'm excited for my investment in my toes today! Loved my pedicure. I'm a clear fan or Kauai Nail Spa in Kapaa but my friend & I spontaneously wanted to get a pedicure and decided on something in Līhue. I always wanted to try this place. It's low key and quiet and I like that. We walked in and were taken right away. Lady working was friendly. Both of our pedicures turned out great. My only wishes are that they 1) got a paint job themselves. The shop is so spacious and has lots of potential but is just so plain and looks unorganized. 2) played spa music because the silence was too quiet I did go in with a friend but we mutually just wanted to relax instead of talk 3) all I could smell majority of the time was pine sol.It would be nice if they had scent options for the scrubs.
