Do not use this company. They will cancel your child's program and never refund your money.

I do not recommend Like Mike. My child is entirely new to basketball and the first practice slot was made into a Zoom parent orientation (which went on far TOO long and was incredibly repetitive). The second practice was extremely disorganized, communications were lacking, the pre-ordered basketball shorts were not available, the uniforms were not available, and Coach Jimmy was far too harsh and sharp to a group of kids around 7-9 years old. There was very little positive reinforcement and mostly just yelling and "no - wrong - do it again" type comments. Coach Jimmy also said his personal 'rule' was that the kids would be given a 20 pushup punishment if they didn't hold the door open for their parents. A sports coach has no business parenting or assigning consequences for things that occur off the court. It was entirely inappropriate. Like Mike MIGHT be okay at coaching a more advanced class with older kids who have thicker skin and have been through a few coaches/sports and who understand how things run. For little kids or an intro to basketball, do not bring them here. Find a place who excels at working with kids, positive reinforcement, exciting 'pump you up' instruction, and facilitating a love for the game -- this is not Like Mike's strength. So I have been waiting to write this review now for about a month I wanted to calm down and give this program a REAL and HONEST review not an emotional one. I read in a lot of their responses here that they "Value" Feed back but this just isn't true. That couldn't be further from the truth. They'll listen but only to tell you that you are wrong. We where here for over 2 years! And this never changed. Their lack of communication is their biggest down fall add the helter skelter make up of the organization and it's a mess. In the 2 years we where here they had 1 Parent meeting 1!!!!!! And that's because they had 3 parents who were very displeased with how they coached. The head coach Mike Glaze is quite frankly anti social you have to walk on egg shells just to speak to him he hides in the corner mostly and NO he was not at the parent meeting. Honestly I could go all day with what's wrong with this league seriously all day!!! From them switching up the teams during the finals game to just down right not having a plan for the kids to play. You are not going to get real coaching. You will get cone drills cone drills cone drills it doesn't matter the team is losing because they cant hold on to the ball nope CONE DRILLS! One thing I will guarantee you your kid will get use to losing here. The straw that broke the camels back for me was being assaulted by one of their coaches who from what I understand is still employed by them. I was complaining about the coaching and next thing I know I got this wannabe hood coach standing over me cursing and talking down to me when I stood up I got hit in the face. Not only did they never apologize not only did they justify his action but when we where waiting on the police to show up they locked me AND my sons out of the gym and eventually abandoned us there after hours. After 2 years here of being loyal to the group they treated us like garbage. They cant hire good people the only coach who's good is Coach Jimmy and believe me most people stay just because of Coach Jimmy the kids love him. But when you get to club level there is no consistency they cant keep coaches. I could never ever ever be ok with someone allowing their employee to harm a parent much less someone who locks me and my sons out when I wasn't the one hitting people. I lost the little respect I had left for them at that point. They proved that they stand for nothing but profit. Pros of this league Its cheap compared to the REAL programs waaay cheaper. But you get what you pay for. Now before you ask then why did you stay 2 years? Because of comfort bottom line, Price was comfortable my sons developed friendships and me and the dads had great relationships. But if you want to grow you have to get out of your comfort zone so this was a bitter sweet thing. God works in mysterious ways. This is where id normally say if your kid is just getting started this is a great place but I cant. I just cant support people who have shown me their lack of Character. Period. read more

We just finished Like Mike summer basketball league and had a great time, it was a really good league that we have registered for the fall league too. It was very well organized and structured, we liked that they had practice on a different day as it allowed my son to learn more with the coaches spending more time to teach them, rather than a short practice on the day of the games like other leagues. The games and practices were in one location so it made planning our schedule easy. Loved the coaches of course, Coach Jimmy was awesome with the kids even though he pushed them. I would recommend this league if you are looking for something more competitive where they teach fundamentals. Its by far one of the best league we have attended. read more

My sister signed my nephew up for camp he lived in another city prior and she received notice after she enrolled him that he has to go to summer school. She contacted Mike and asked for her money back and he told her he didn't care what the situation is he wasn't giving her a refund. This is poor service. Who takes advantage of a single mother. He could at least give her a partial refund if he's that hard up for money. SAD!!! SAD!!! SAD!!!! read more

What an absolute disappointment this league was. I think there is a lot of potential for sure but the organization itself is total mess. Did a season with them and will not come back for sure. Lack of communication, completely disorganized, extreme yelling at the kids, 0 level of encouragement and recognition to them are just some things we were frustrated about. Again, there is a lot of potential but they have a loooooooong way to go before they can call themselves a serious basketball league. They also need to hire some good coaches, some of the ones they have now are nothing but talk and talk and do a good job putting the kids down after every game... Not good at all. read more

I signed my daughter up for the Thanksgiving break skills camp only to have it cancelled the morning of the camp. It's been 2 full months and I'm still waiting on my $142 refund. They will no longer return my calls. I'd recommend you find someone more professional. read more

My son started here 2 years ago and he has improved more then I ever thought possible. They hold the boys to a very high standard of play. They teach basketball IQ, which I love ! This program will push your kiddo to be better then they were yesterday. I wouldn't put my son anywhere else. read more

Words cannot express how AWESOME Mike and the academy have been for my son!!!! We have participated in several basketball leagues and organizations across the United States, and Like Mike Academy is 'second to none'!!! Mike is a great coach, who is not only extremely knowledgeable about basketball, but also exhibits sincerity about development and growth of the kids' skills and basketball IQ. My son has tremendously grown and improved his game in a short period of time. Based on our great experience with Mike, I can't fathom my son playing for any other team!! My son frequently says this has been his best basketball experience and wants to stay with Mike. read more

My son has been playing for Like Mike for over a year. He started in the league and then moved up to AAU. His game has improved in a very short amount of time. Coach Mike and Coach John care about the players not only on the court but off of the court as well. Both coaches strive to develop the players in both skills and basketball IQ. My son loves his team and the Like Mike organization. Everyone has become like a family and I could not ask for a better experience. read more
