My new friend pours his heart and soul into everything he does within those 4 walls at Cugini's Pizza Cafe. From the antipasto board, to the incredibly fresh ingredients topping the slow cooked sauce atop a crispy pizza crust, to the heavenly Nodini (pastries topped with Nutella, honey and powdered sugar)...you can taste the love in every bite. I've sampled 4 different pizzas from the menu and they are all equally delicious. If you are looking for Quality, and are willing to pay a little more for a great pizza, you will never be disappointed by Cugini's. Just don't expect him to rush your order or give you the cold shoulder, because Germano's warmth and true love for his craft will make you want to stay and chat for a while as your pizza cooks to perfection within his ovens. Easily foldable. Follow it up with just the right amount of quality ingredients are brought together in just the right proportions with quirky flair. Upside down pizza (cheese first, sauce on top) or stranger still, a double carb potato pizza. Speaking of, the potato pie is so good. All the ingredients from a potato mille feuille with a hit of fresh rosemary and grana padano atop the well made crust. Rich, creamy, nuff said. Equally good the mushroom with its "mushroom cream" (think a thin duxelles) base, rosemary to season and meaty creminis and motz to round it all out. Finally the sopressatta. I mean, come on, who doesn't love a cheese pie made even more complex with goat cheese, honey and grana padano? Sold by the slice or whole 18 inch pie. Inexpensive. Is it better than the NYC pie? There are a number of signature pizzas they offer or you can also build your own. I've tried many of them but my favourite was always The Diabolo. Sadly, it was recently removed from their menu but with the help of a chef who worked here for a while we were able to mostly recreate it. Tomato sauce, cheese, mushrooms, bell peppers, Calabrese sausage, and the most important piece: garlic oil! The only thing missing was eggplant which they didn't carry any more.
