My dog Tuti gets amazing care from Dr. Upchurch. My dog is a 10 year old rescue Puggle and she was not well - in pain and panting excessively. Dr Upchurch took great care and now my dog is getting better. We appreciate Dr Upchurch and the Team at Beach Pet Hospital. Thank You Mrs Marsh and Tuti.

This place is the BEST vet I could have ever belonged to too. Our Moose came down with pneumonia and was only 9 weeks old. Dr. Dawn Johnson put tireless hours of work into keeping our puppy alive! The staff was so caring and we could not believe how they make you feel like family !! Thank you Christina Sims for all that you have done for Moose as well !!! For all the bad reviews I have read on here I'm astonished anyone could say anything negative about Beach Pet!! This is the place where you are family when you step foot in the door!!! Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to my puppy.. God Bless all of you and Moose will be visiting very often !!! This place is a 5 Star through and through !!

Jemmy, happy and healthy and in no pain after neck surgery and treatment!

I've been taking my dogs here for 19 years! Without fail they have gone out of their way to take care of my little ones. I am always amazed at the love, kindness and top care they always show. Thank you to Christina, Lauren, Dr. Andrews and Dr. Back for being amazing! I would never go anywhere else.

    I. Love. This. Vet. My dogs are my kids, and after a progressively bad experience with the last vet, I was skeptical. But from the moment we walked in, they were kind and absolutely interested in our three dogs. After we signed in and sat, we really didn't wait too long before being put into and examination room. The assistants were so pleasant and gentle with our dogs. The doctor was invested in their care, didn't rush us nor try to sell us. I am so happy and comfortable here. The staff is amazing with our dogs and made it so simple and easy to care for them, and they are priced very well. I trust this clinic and I highly suggest them if your looking for a place for your pet.

So I've been taking my animals here for about 4 years now. At around 430 Loki our male wasn't feeling right. So we called said we can bring him in. But after 5 mins we cancelled but decided to go anyways. Because he's are baby. So we get there they come out and tell us there is a walk in fee. For emergency because we didn't have and appointment. Because they were closing at 530 .. well we were there at 4:45... all I have to say is that's kind sketchy in my eyes..

My cat Azumi was ill and considering her age and our finances I was worried they'd tell me we had to put her to sleep. My last two rescues has similar symptoms and suffered. I dropped off newspapers and the front desk woman was grateful they use them for cleanup in pet crates This was my first visit and it was a bit of a wait very busy day. However we were greeted immediately and my Azumi was well cared for, without the pushy salesman type of vet attitude. He was very sweet to Azumi as was the staff and she got testing, meds and has recovered. I was both relieved at the pricing and swift service once we got in the room. We loved the full size fish tank that appeared well cared for. I will definitely return,my only complaint is it's an awkward traffic pattern but they cant control that the service and pricing make up for it. 5 stars!

I would give 6 stars if I could. My husband and I recently added a new puppy to our household, and within days, had a major medical crisis on our hands. Our puppy had serious medical issues that were not detected by the breeder (or the breeder's vet), including significant neurological symptoms, a UTI, bladder stones, contracted tendons, and (as Beach Pet discovered) a liver shunt. We've used Beach Pet for routine medical care for our other dog and have always been very pleased, but in this crisis, they went above and beyond. The vets provided excellent medical care and an accurate diagnosis of the primary underlying condition immediately. They respond promptly to messages with urgent concerns, and although our puppy has a long road ahead of him as he gets better, it has made such a huge difference knowing that we have a stellar team of medical professionals providing him with the best possible care-- he will need surgery to repair his liver when he is older, but in the meantime, his symptoms have been all but eliminated under their prescribed regimen. Our pup's care is primarily managed by Dr. Lawrence and Dr. Upchurch, both of whom have made an incredibly difficult situation much easier to cope with. If you are looking for consummate professionals who genuinely care about your pet's wellbeing, this is the veterinary practice for you.

Beach Pet Hospital is a cat friendly practice, with the certificate to prove it!

But after having 3 different awful experiences with this woman I cannot stay silent. My first encounter with her that went awfully was when I had brought me and my moms new puppy and intended to carry him so he did not have a leash since I was conscious about him touching the floor and carts being I did not know how well they had been cleaned and he had no vaccines yet and I was unsure if his mother had any vaccines. She spoke down to me once again, forcing me to put a slip lead on him and put him in a cart despite me being uncomfortable with this.  The next time we had been late on our puppies vaccines and he had to restart his vaccine course to which this woman spoke down to me and my mother about how if we had come in earlier he wouldn't have had to restart and in general was rude and nasty.  This last experience that I had yesterday is by far the worst and inexcusable. My personal dog who is human reactive had been muzzled bc he is large and scary when he barks but has 0 bite history. I stood with him near the door to try and catch the woman and ask her about where we should stand because my dog sometimes barks at people. when she came out she very rudely told me people had been waiting and I couldnt cut in line. I expressed that i was trying to alert her to my dog and keep him from people to which he is reactive. She told me she would have to help the others first and that the line started in the back. I assured again that was fine and she started helping people to which my dog started screaming because he saw another dog and got excited so she told me to go wait on the other side. I moved me and my dog to the other side of the door behind a pillar and was giving him treats and praise for ignoring the people and dogs. She came back to told me I needed to wait around the other side of the building all the way at the end and she would get me. I waited out there for 20-30 minutes crying because she made me feel shamed for trying to properly keep my dog under control and everyone comfortable. My mother ended up coming to help me speak to someone because of the treatment and we went straight back to the manager to speak yo him and were placed in line. When we walked in she tried to make an excuse that she somehow didnt know I was waiting outside despite her telling me to wait there. Everyone was amazing and helped us perfectly fine until my mother was trying to check out at the front with some items she was purchasing and heard the front desk woman telling other customers to "watch out for the girl and her mom with the muzzle dog who was lunging at others" to which my mom had an argument with her and left. My mom called me and informed me she was up there speaking about us and the woman standing in line next to us informed me that she had also been given the same warning about me and my dog and I alerted the manager of this. As I was leaving she was once again speaking about me and my dog If you look at any other negative review of this clinic it mentioned this woman and her repeated behavior like this. So this begs the question: are some dogs inherently less deserving of vet care because of their reactivity and does this woman get to decide?

I have been going to this clinic for a decade but will no longer be going here because recently…read morethey stopped letting pet owners go w/their pets to receive vaccines which I find to be highly suspect. The big reason though is they would only sell me 6mo. worth of heartworm medication when I normally buy a years worth because it is cheaper that way. The want me to pay for 2 tests a year when no other vet in this country does that. Of course they did not tell me this until AFTER doing the test so now I am forced to pay for it. My dog has NEVER lapsed on his tests or medications so there is NO REASON for them to not sell him a years worth of medication. This is VERY SHADY business & I wonder if it is fraud. I will be looking into it.

A strong word of warning about Dr. Ashley Powell and Animal Medical Center:…read more We took our dog in for an emergent but common procedure. He was diagnosed quickly and surgery was recommended (to be performed by Dr. Koegel). Hours go by with no updates so I called to find out what was going on. Dr. Ashley Powell (the co-owner of the practice) got on the phone to tell me our dog died during surgery and Dr. Koegel was upset so she sent her home. Dr. Powell gave an - we don't really know what happened the procedure itself went great he just didn't do well - explanation of what happened. We went in to say goodbye and during our second post-surgical interaction she said the same thing - no clear explanation of what happened. My husband and I are both in medicine and knew something was off here. On our THIRD conversation after demanding to know what transpired during the procedure step by step (and demanding to speak to the lead surgeon Dr. Koegel) we learned that Dr Koegel mistakenly cut into our dogs diaphragm and called Dr. Powell into the room to help stabilize him while Dr. Koegel attempted to suture the laceration. This unforced surgical error was what killed our dog (admitted by all parties in our 4th conversation). What is more disturbing to me than a mistake happening during a procedure is the lack of professionalism, transparency and ethics by Dr. Koegel and Dr. Powell at every step. Dr. Powell runs the practice and found it reasonable to send Dr Koegel home instead of doing the ethical thing of facing the family and explaining what happened and taking that responsibility. Most importantly, Dr. Powell was not honest during the first two conversations about what happened during the procedure even though she was in the room. Medical professionals have a solemn obligation to conduct themselves with integrity even in the tough moments and Drs. Powell & Koegel lack that fidelity. We can't accept the idea of something like this happening to another family so please reconsider your vet care - Dr. Powell also co-owns Ally Urgent Medical Care off North Great Neck Rd in addition to co-owning Animal Medical Center. Dr. Koegel has since left AMC.

Let me explain what I enjoyed about this practice: - they had calming music (classical) playing throughout the office which immediately calmed my two cats. - there was feliway in every room of the vet! ***** FIVE stars just for that! Upon entering my cats immediately stopped meowing and were calm because we have feliway diffusers at our home too. - the veterinarian was very nice and so was her vet tech. The veterinarian was very knowledgeable. She took her time with both of my cats examinations. I felt listened to. She heard all of my concerns and addressed each one individually. I felt that she spent enough time with me and with my cats. A very pleasant experience. - the exam rooms were very cosy. They encouraged me to open up my carrier and let my kitties roam if they so pleased. There were little perches on the walls and good hiding spots to help my kitties feel safe, as well. - one of my cats had to get 2 vaccines which the vet tech & doctor performed effortlessly. He didn't even flinch! This office was a little bit of a drive for me but worth it for the care that I received. I would recommend this office to any bougie cat moms who want the best for their babies!
